He’s an inside mid- always has been, always will be. He was held back for injury, form and education, but now that he’s been unleashed he’s looked right at home for the first time in a long time.

It was a bit of fun, good exposure and gave a very positive view of our club to the world. Was a little bit cringy that the women's team, who seemed to be present, weren't mentioned or acknowledged at all during the episode - everything was ''da boys'd love that''.

A google search of his name brings up a bunch of match reports from WA football leagues (and a small role in the Cloud Street mini-series)

I think the bigger concern would be that he seems to be living in WA, having played for Mandurah. Will be hard to get him all the way over to Victoria, and keeping him here. (Just ask his father)

To think that the Brayshaw thread three weeks ago was screaming for him to be traded at fire-sale prices... We're a fickle bunch.

Was excellent today. Great vision, thinking in traffic and very quick hands. Can see him dishing out some lightning handballs from a congested midfield in the coming years.

Improved somewhat as the game went on, but not a great night for him. Is at his best when he hunts the ball, rather than sitting back off the play. Needs to move to a wing/on-ball to make better is of his skillset. Is coming from a long way back due to injuries, but is also being played out of position.

Never understood why he was and continues to be judged so harshly; you'd think we'd be overjoyed to have a 6'5" KPD holding down full back from his third season. I really like like him and invested in his stock early. He has the potential to become a much loved player for the MFC if he continues to develop and improve his intensity.

I wonder if McCartin was next on our list in the 2014 draft..? If memory serves correctly the media assumed he was, but I’ve also heard DeGoey was being looked at.

I can give you my response now. I never once said he would leave, not once. I said it was ‘possible’ and I even underlined that word for you on page 2 of this thread. It was and still is, and forever shall be POSSIBLE that Ollie Wines could leave Port Adelaide. If they sign him- great, good for them!

For the most part I would suggest that it was the summer spent in the rehab group. As he’s never been considered a chance for JLT or round 1, he’s just fallen out of the write-ups. Hopefully when he strings some games together, he’ll set tongues wagging.

Carlton also had big doubts about Curnow which is why they took Harry McKay ahead of him. In fact, Curnow was the 6th key position player taken in that draft behind: Weitering Schache Francis Weideman McKay. None of those player have set the world on fire yet. Some will, some won’t. But the fact of the matter is we won’t know for a few more years yet. In addition, it’s probably worth noting who was playing full back last night for Carlton whilst Curnow played full forward. Liam Jones is a KPP who didn’t play a good match until the age of 26. Some guys burst onto the scene... some take time.

Has had significant ankle surgery twice already in his career and spent most of this pre-season in rehab. I wouldn’t be wanting to see him in the seniors for the first half of the year as, I’d rather see him developing and building confidence in the VFL. Pederson is definitely ahead of him in the pecking order at this stage at any rate. Weideman need match fitness and a run of good form. Not concerned... yet.
