I wouldn't make huge changes for this game.. ANB for Grimes Frost for White Stretch for Vandenberg ** Petracca to play more time in midfield along with Ben Ken and Garlett** ** Stretch to play off half back along with Vince, Hunt to the wing with ANB. Harmes back to HFF as he cost us a lot with poor decision making on the weekend** ** Nathan Jones to play forward, as he looks like he needs a spell and we need more forward pressure**
-
I have watched him closely in the past 2 games, for a small guy, he really has terrible agility and this often sees him out of position.
-
I think that a few have hit the nail on the head, with the issue of leg speed. Nathan Jones needs to be move to another position along with Vince. Tyson and Viney are locked in for the midfield, but need one really quick ball winner to change the dynamic. Really need Salem, Stretch to develop quickly as they are both very critical to our game plan.

How do we get Prestia AND Hibberd to the club?
SPC replied to watchtheeyes's topic in Melbourne Demons
How do we get Prestia and Hibberd to the club? Ask them if they would like to win a flag with the mighty Dees!!! -
Very important game for us.. If we win this, then I think we silence a few critics - by way of proof we can win at Etihad again, can win after the Darwin trip, can win 2 in a row again... It will also help us to propel to 10 wins for the year, which will be a pass mark and a good starting point for a final tilt next year.. Go Dees!

Had my little nephews photo taken with him at training before the Adelaide game.. He told my nephew if he came to the game, he would kick a goal for him.. When he snapped the one around the corner from 40 out, my little nephew told me that Jack had kept his word... His level of interaction with kids is amazing and most of them leave wanting to get the number 4 on their back.

The kid has some real weapons, but also some flaws he needs to work on.. Just hope he can continue to develop on the scale he is on now.

Time to buy in Tommy Boy... The Dees on are the rise!!!
-
I am not sure on Garland, Grimes or Terlich's contracts, but there is some more money to add to it..

Great footballer, great bloke, great clubman, great signing- great news for the club!!!

I would like to see Wagner come back in for Oscar. Backline as follows: Jetta Frost White Wagner TMac Harmes Grimes and Hunt on the wings I am not too sure on how Billy will pull up after the game, but he is critical to our speed for Etihad. If he is not fit then I would bring Oliver in. Other than that I wouldn't make many changes, perhaps if Vince is not fit, then look at Brayshaw or even Benny Newton.

Sorry for moving off subject, but I am flying in from Singapore for my first game in 2 years v Adelaide and wanted to take my young daughter to Dees training next week.. When do they normally announce the training times? Does anyone know what days we normally have open training before a Sunday game? Thanks in advance!
-
They had a much smaller forward line than we had backline. I just thought given the forecast we could have taken an advantage from having stronger bodies with low center of gravity to handle the conditions.
-
But you wouldn't expect much else from a tall skinny fellow in his second year on an AFL list, who was drafted 53 in his year. Yes he has work to do, as do most new blokes- look at Harmes as an example, he has taken time to learn good habits and still needs to improve.. Talls will always take longer to develop and build confidence.
-
Not suited to the weather, should not have played, got a huge hip corky and couldn't run the second half out.. Massive upside if he can continue to work on his strength and speed, plus clean up his kicking and decision making by hand under pressure.
-
Will depend heavily on weather... Dry Conditions: In: Matt Jones, Garlett, Harmes Out: Oliver, Trengove, VB Wet Weather: In: Harmes, ANB, Grimes Out: VB, Dawes, Stretch ** No change on Vince yet **

Selection has been strange all year.. I think there is more too it than we understand. Roosy is an incredibly smart bloke and not one who would make the same mistakes week in week out.. My feeling is that he wants to keep the core group together playing, even if they are tired and coming off a short break, or up against bigger bodies.. It is like he is using the last few months of his coaching role to test the players mentally and physically, because Goody will not be afforded this luxury when he is in charge. Roos has spoken about 6 days breaks and fatigue, yet he has not addressed it. We clearly had 1-2 many talls and either Frost or Omac should not have played, but they were included.. Grimes was certainly the obvious replacement, but no change.. just doesn't add up.

I think the problem is that some people placed too high expectations on Jack... It is a great story that he is back after an injury that should have ended his career. He is still only 2 games back and working into a solid block of games.. Before injury he was playing okay footy, but not dominating. There were a few people on here that suggested he could be a 'Robbie Gray' type story, which I think is a bit unfair on Jack. Is there a spot for Jack? Yes there is.. Will there be a spot for him long term? Depends on the progress of Harmes, Salem, ANB, Stretch, VB, Oliver, etc.. I would say for now he deserves the spot and is playing some good footy, but long term we cannot carry too many slow mids, so it is between him, Tyson, Vince & Nate Jones for that spot.

Thank KC for the reply. I thought after his NAB cup game he looked like he had something, but hasn't had a good run..
-
I would say he is done..

I think the key to Buddy, like all key forwards is how he is delivered the ball.. If we let their midfielders do as they please, then Buddy will destroy us. If we work as a defensive unit, then he wont get the ball in dangerous spots, hence nullifying his impact. I feel we have a pretty good defensive structure for teams that do not have 2-3 really strong tall forwards (Adelaide/Port Adelaide), or teams that do not have 2-3 really good small forwards (Hawthorn/Bulldogs). I do not think that Sydney have either, but their midfield kick goals and they win games by restricting opportunities, closing down space and time. They are better than the Bulldogs and Hawthorn at this, and that has made is look sloppy in the past. Calling a low scoring, ugly game. Swans by 22.

A question for the guys who watch have seen the reserves; Max King- Is he a chance to make it? or is he just filling a spot on the list till the end of the year?
-
It was scrapped and called Australia Plus.. Still crap quality and still shows the worst of Australian Tv from 10 years ago.
-
I think with the weather conditions I would only make 1 change.. I would take Oscar McDonald out (Keep Frost in as he is faster and a bigger body) and bring in Grimes. This will help us match up better given their smaller forward line.

Hi All, This is my first post for a while, so please excuse any errors. My thoughts on our side for R1 next year. B : Jetta , Frost , Garland HB: Melksham, T.Mac, Lumumba C : Vince, Viney, Salem HF: Kent, Dunn, Vandenberg FF: Petracca Hogan, Garlett Foll: Gawn, Jones, Tyson IC : Watts, Brayshaw, ANB, Oliver I think the Weid is still a few months off, given his low endurance base and Trengove, while he is a feel good story, might be a little way off AFL standard and will likely play VFL round 1. Dunn will play forward and will fit in well with Hogan as he is great at creating space and blocking opponents off the ball. Some pretty unlucky players, such as Stretch and Harmes, but we seem to have a lot of guys to rotate through the forward/midfield, so for team balance they miss out. Watts will start bench and will rotate through half forward/wing. Oliver will debut round 1. Certainly a better side than the past few seasons, but can still see some holes in the list. If we can remain fit and continue the development, we should be around mid- ladder with a couple of surprise scalps along the way. Go Dees!
