POSTGAME: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Ladies and gentlemen.. after some soul searching last night, I am far more positive about things today. I agree with Goody, we are in good shape. Last night for the most part we were average and should have snatched that. We just need to figure out that forwardline puzzle and we will with it! Need a Schache or TMAC to put in a solid block and put their hand up for the 2nd key post. Fritta and Joel Smith will be a handful as 3rd and 4th talls. Let’s move on from last night, focus on the potential for growth we still have! Finish 4th and we will beat the pies at the G first final.

Bombers are the new ‘bruise free’ footy side. Love the ball in open space, hate getting dirty to win a contest.

2023 Injury List
One thing that bugs me about these things is the announcement on Channel 7 news as a scoop. Surely supporters/members could get this info. Not watch a prerecorded presser from Richo. Anyway, feel for Petty. Think this will kill some momentum for us. Hopefully we find a way

Have we officially found our full forward?
After a bit of reflection, I think either of Brown, Schache or Grundy must play. With JVR now our key forward, we need a legitimate 2nd ruck so JVR can focus on his forward craft. My preference is Brown if fit than Schache. Need forwards that lead hard at the ball and they are closest to like for like with Petty. Accuracy is also key to replacing Petty, both are deadly accurate.

2023 Injury List
Sorry for my ignorance, but would 5 weeks mean available for first final? R22-24 plus a week break.

2023 Injury List
I think a combination of Smith, Brown and Tmac will get us through till Fritta is back. BB’s knee only allows him to play one game before it blows up. TMAC will be an option once he has some VFL form. Joel smith is good, but more of a third tall, not strong enough in the contest.

Have we officially found our full forward?
I actually think we can build a forwardline around Petty and JVR. They are both competitive animals, great marks and good endurance athletes. This will help Jefferson to take his time to come, and when ready I see him as a good third option. Melky probably keeps him out for a while and it will be interesting to see if he and Fritta can operate together with 2 other talls. The focus now I see is that 1 defender spot. May has benefited from Tomlinson being a lockdown on the main key forward. We probably need another gun defender to fill Perry’s spot and relieve May and Lever to intercept.. not sure Tomlinson will provide this next year and beyond.

The Run Home
Highly likely at the end of this round we will be 2nd on the ladder. A game clear of Brisbane and ahead of Port on %. Wow!!
