Let's try and pin point the actual issue.
Opposition realised that they cannot bomb long to May, Lever and Petty. They have gone to work on using short passes and changing lanes to get shots 30-45m from goal. May and Co have no impact and our forwards need to man up and not just guard space when pushing back to defend. Collingwood will be a very bad matchup for us on their forward entries. I think many of our issues can be addressed with a change of defensive style and some personnel. We need to adapt our game to take away opposition weapons, but Goody only focuses on “our style” which is not working.

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs Carlton
We need to change the lineup and dynamic as we are too predictable. The taller our forwards, the more we bomb it to the goal square. Out McDonald, Harmes, Jordan, and if injured Grundy In- Smith, Woewodin, Tomlinson and Hunter. Tomlinson needs to play and on form would be ahead of Lever as a pure defender. Lever has been putrid this year with Petty being shuffled forward. We need accountability down back, not dropped chest marks.

I actually think that we are best served by playing boundary line, safe footy atm. We have terrible foot skills and cannot defend turnovers. Collingwood are a great one on one team, going through the corridor suits them as any mistakes can be cleaned up. We are sloppy.

Goodwin rank among AFL coaches
I have never asked for a change since the Mark Neeld days, but I think Goody has shown a real lack to adapt in the previous 2 years. Not sure if he is stubborn or just lacking in tactical skill. I think we will continue the same path as we have since round 10 last year. This will be Goodys last year I feel and we will be outside our window next year.

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Walyalup
I just think that he offers so little in terms of competing in the air when the ball is not kicked to his advantage. On the lead, he is a weapon. But sides block his run and drop back in front of him. The way the game is played this year, ground ball in our forward 50 is critical, that is why Petty and JVR are our best option. BB will play only when Grundy doesn’t.

To win this one, our defence will need to be impenetrable. May and Lever will need to play strong games. Max will need to dominate in the ruck and around the ground. Last time they beat us, it was in the air. Surprised not to see another tall defender, but maybe Max will drift back. Taking my young daughter who is pumped, weekend in the city, so looking forward to getting out of Ballarat cold to enjoy Melbourne cold. Go Dees!!
- Will you BOO Luke Jackson this weekend?

Lachie Hunter Loses Bid To Overturn 1 Week Suspension
Not surprised by the result. AFL script this stuff, controlling results is in their DNA. Hunter could benefit from a freshening up. Jordan or Brayshaw will cover him for a week.

Lachie Hunter Loses Bid To Overturn 1 Week Suspension
We will appeal and he will get off. The slide from Rozee caused the contact above the shoulder, nothing Hunter could do as he had the right to contest the ball. *Fine Print- MRO will ensure that 1 Melbourne player per round is suspended till 2026.
