Although I don’t rate Viney overly highly, he’s worth more to us than what we’d get for him in a trade. IMO we’d only get around a mid-second rounder for him.

He’s contracted until the end of 2020, will be 28 next season, would be onto his fourth club and is very injury prone. Sounds like just the sort of player a club in our position needs.

I agree. The ‘everything will be ok’ is just wishful supporter thinking. Most of us have been supporting the club to know that this actually isn’t the case. Successful teams like Hawthorn get ahead of the pack and make tough calls on players before it gets too late.

I agree with that combination of midfielders being our best. I suggested last week that Viney should be moved into defence, probably not a great idea given his lack of accuracy. Might be worth a shot up forward.

I also think Viney upsets the balance of the midfield. See ball, get ball, kick ball (anywhere) or get caught with ball. Not that I’m entertaining a trade but Brayshaw’s trade value would certainly be higher than Viney’s.

If I had to sum up Brayshaw in one word it would be ‘ineffectual’.

Exactly, and no doubt they have the money to keep him after missing out on big RFA’s they saved up for over the last couple of seasons. Plus Brown’s quite a consistent, leading big forward. Doesn’t sound very ‘Melbourne’ like.

Spoke to some mates who support Fremantle and they think Hill is worth a second round pick, somewhere around 25-35. They all had a good chuckle at the suggestion of pick 2 for Hill and pick 7.

Move Viney to half-back. I think he upsets the balance in the midfield. There’s nothing to gain from the remainder of the season, mix it up a bit.

We’re rated as 16th for talent under 23, no way we give up pick 2 in a trade to get Hill. We need to retain 2 to have the best chance at getting Anderson. Hill’s worth an early second rounder.

Brown gets half his goals from free kicks, he won’t be getting those frees is he comes to us so the goals will dry up.
