Sometimes coaches are just not suited @ senior level.... Great @ young development ... Happens in every team sport.. Dark time of our footy club... PJ addressed many structural issues would not have helped many coaches to succeed..

Let's hope our current recruiters do it justice...as our history of early picks is diabolical!

What was wrong with the trade system... Players nominate the club they wish to go to & they do the trade.... Eg Judd to Carlton .... WC got a decent player & a pick... Win win! Right now Hawks lose nothing & gain a kpp vs Melb a early pick & hope they develop in 3-5 yrs

Difference is Hawks give up nothing to get him.... Bottom clubs will need to give away the farm & pay overs! What was wrong with the old system? Eg Judd nominated Carlton & deal was done... Both sides had a win win... We may get a pick 3 & play lottery in the draft wait for 3-5 yrs to develop him... Hawks get a Kpp player ready to go.. I guess that's a fair outcome!

As Roos said biggest anti equalisation policy.... No issue with Frawley wanting to go to Haw etc ... But what was wrong with the tradie system... Both clubs would gave to give something up... Wr as now Hawks give up nothing ... We get a pick something.... Appears they can top up to pinch a another flag!

Very concerning to hear from the players association saying that the players should not be responsible for the equalisation of the comp... Well last time I checked it was players who kicked the ball, marked & scored etc... They must remember that we have 18 teams in this so called comp & someone has to finish last & only 22 players can be premiers each year!

FFS.... The club is trying to create stability & build strong foundations for the future.... Goodwin was appointed so he can work under Roos for 2 yrs & take over.... This will ensure to the same message is continued & the players become accustomed to their new head coach.... The strategy cannot continue to change every 2-3yrs... I would think our history since 08-13 says it all...

Simply put he can't play 2 way footy.. Very basic .... You attack & defend ....pressure the opposition & cause turnovers... FFS not that hard....

RIP.... A champion & true clubman.... Was a great time to watch him play finals in 1987.... We now have lost Sean White, Jim Stynes & Flower from that final series.....

It's a marketing fixture driven by ratings & which teams will achieve the best ratings on TV.... Until the afl find away of a true home & away & play it's other twice the comp will never be fair!

Spot on Roosy.....free agency will make the competition less uneven! Makes a good point only 2 players didn't end up @ their club of choice pre free trade commencing! If ant broke don't fix it!

As much I would love to have a gun like him.... It want happen.... How many other good players good we get with picks 2 & 3? I still believe we need to invest in young talent, hawthorn bit the bullet & traded away experience to get kids... We need to have a long term plan....giving away the farm is dangerous....I'm starving for success ... Born in 64 & yet to see a flg... Rather wait for another 4-5yrs & build a premiership club! Good clubs continue to build their lists... No short cuts..

We are club which finished 17 has not won more than 5 games each season since 2011! We have to be realistic on who want yo play for us... Will over pay overs to attract to make players move!

FFS... Let it go... Get the best picks/player swap & move on! Previous mfc mgt are to blame for creating a bad environment.... Frawley wants out fine... He's only 1 player.... Didn't stop hawks winning a flag without buddy!! We need to build a new list with fresh/renewed players, new culture...

Early picks is one thing it's what culture & the ability to develop which our club has done very poorly..... When you look @ Geelong. & the Swans they had not many early picks but great culture & the ability to develop quality players... Until our club gets to that stage most players will struggle to develop...

To ensure an even competition the swans are not allowed to finish below 8th & all free agents can fit into their salary cap!

I live & hope & think the club has the right people in place both on/off the field.... However the Hawks 18 yrs ago did not compete with free agency & less teams, capitalised on good drafting & development....

Absolutely this goes for all teams... I think free agency will damage the game & give top clubs a powerful tool to get talent & maintain their success ... Do we all want to see the same teams compete for a flag each year? Remember there are18 teams in this so called competition ... Someone has to finish last.... So the system the afl implement to save the competition in the mid 80s appears to be coming apart ? You either have an equalisation system or you don't

Luck?? More than that... Yes all clubs have early picks which fail... But good clubs get the good ones right! Along with good culture & development...I'm frustrated to see posters say they wr lucky getting stars drafted etc ... You dont win 3 flags in 7 yrs inc back to back thru luck!

I don't know which club you were following ... But prior yo this year it was absolute diabolical on all fronts..
