I wouldn't have thought Georgiou would be in the gun unless Garland is going to come back and take that spot. Even then, I consider whether he couldn't stay in in Terlich's spot. If Terlich is out it would be one of the best performed flanker/mids from tomorrow or Garlan if he is right. I still have a concern with only having one ruck, although I believe brining in another is a waste of a spot, unless they are a forward who can go into the ruck (which would be Gawn or Fitzpatrick). What I'd really love to bring in is a gun half back flanker with serviceable defending, good speed and run, and great disposal and decision making. The play maker off the back flank role is currently being done by whoever has it, and if someone could really step up into that we'll be a long way further along in development!

Pederson career highlight. Cannot believe that goal.

Cheers. Anything in it?

What happened there?

I'm not concerned about the drop in Howe. I really believe he will learn a lot playing down back, and when our forward line is functioning he will go forward again as the third option that Dunn is currently taking. Dunn has been servicable up forward but I think he is better down back.

Barry Clisby Salem and Morris named on the bench in the ones but not in twos. They play ones regardless. The others drop back to the twos of the MFC emergencies all play at Casey I assume.

6 Tyson 5 Howe 4 Cross 3 Georgiou 2 McDonald 1 Dunn

I'm with you Nasher, it's killing footy for me. It's not the losing. It's watching tree players whole approach to the game change, their heads drop. There is no intent. It makes it hard to support.
-
I hope he didn't. I don't think the fumbles and mistakes are laziness I think they are a lack of confidence.
-
We are either scared to stuff it up or just not smart and therefore too slow to make decisions. When we don't honour leads around the ground everyone stops running and stays putting their hand in the air saying "just kick it to me here". No idea where our preseason confidence has gone. Looking optimistically, this is where I believe leading teams style group talking and debriefing could help change the culture. The change needs to come from the players. I think they are working hard enough off field but need to get it together above the shoulders on match days.

Actually all we've established is that you're a [censored]. Put your own votes up and justify them. Spencer played as our sole ruck all day, 40 (?) Hit outs, ran hard, made efforts to shepherd both sound the ball drop and in pay, used his body and actually kicked the thing when in hand. He may not have been a dominant player but not for lack of effort, and I rate effort more than polish. Toumpas ran very hard all day, long runs regularly. Was often used as a target and fought hard, despite it not being his position, and he generally used it Ok. Was a solid game. I have already said my assessment of Georgiou was based mostly on a few key plays that stood out and I didn't identify him stuff much up. Can you give some examples? The other options for 1 vote for Tyson (a lot of turn overs), trengove (who imo had no impact either), or Matt Jones (who was sold but unspectacular and I thought Georgiou's efforts stood out in my mind more). Unless you have something worth while perhaps you may as well log off and go so where else.

I'm happy to be corrected on this one. The times I recognised him I was happy with his effort and application. It might be a case of not not seeing him enough! And perhaps I am being harsh on Vince. He deserved to be in the top 6, I just felt his misses really cost us.
-
6 N Jones - in everything 5 Watts - would have got 6 if left on the midfield 4 Dunn - rarely beaten 3 Toumpas - gut ran all day 2 Spencer - threw his body around, great effort 1 Georgiou - encouraging signs first up, defended well If Vince kicked straight he could have had any of those votes!

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
deanox replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Basically Dank thinks he has done nothing wrong because other people did it too and he feels victimised. He has obviously broken the WADA code else he would just provide the information. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. BTW my source in the Essendon IT department says everything is backed up off site, weekly, monthly and annually. If the records were there they are still there. -
I like the emblem. It should be on our stationary letter head, and on official type stuff. We are the mfc. I like having a demon around as it is our nickname. The Demon shouldn't be in our emblem but it can be in other non formal logos. The demon shouldn't be on our jumper, but I don't think the emblem should be either. The demon can be the focus of the kids membership etc. no worries.

Trust me. Grow one.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
deanox replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
The players were apparently told not too tell anyone because the program was their confidential advantage. I understand that may have scared then out of telling family or managers. But it doesn't excuse them not calling asada to check or googling the substance names on their own. The consent form they signed listed a number of illegal substances. They were duped into receiving illegal substances while insert the impression they were being given something else. They all knew what they were getting. They were negligent in not checking the rules themselves. -
That is utter bull. It should be illegal to "report" like that. Cannot believe they get away with this sort of [censored]. Journalism standards are so bloody poor it is ridiculous.

It might be quicker to go via the queenscliff sorrento ferry! -
Good luck boys, sorry I can't make it!
-
Rollo, you'll have to count me out with a lunch kicking off at midday unfortunately! Best of luck boys!
-
Rollo, I have a lunch from 12ish so I'm unlikely, but depending on location and timing etc. I may be able to sneak down for a bit. Would love to be involved again, but don't count on me just yet.

Grant Thomas twitter attack on Paul Roos???
deanox replied to Vipercrunch's topic in Melbourne Demons
In some ways Roos is setting himself up as the saviour. The club avoided that with the 2 year deal etc but all the comments about the fragile mental state etc and how he wants to fix it contradict that. BUT it makes it harder for him to walk out with the job half done. He saw the problem, decided to get involved to Fox it. And if he walks out after 2015 without fixing it, it's his reputation on the line. -
Anyone know if it is televised?

New coach Paul Roos shocked by Demons' scars
deanox replied to Undeeterred's topic in Melbourne Demons
On the Plan B thing. I have often lamented (at least in RL, maybe not on DL) the fact that we don't have a Plan B. But when saying this, I do not expect a change in game lan, or game style. I expect that the key back who is getting slaughtered could be swapped for an alternative player, OR another defender could be instructed to make an effort to drop in front of them. I expect that when an opposition midfielder has run around unmarked for 2 quarters getting 25 touches to half time, we could try moving a tagger onto him, or even try to get another midfielder to man him at stoppages, instead of letting him roam free. I expect that when an opposition back flanker is getting leather poisoning running the ball out of defence while his opponent, and our forward hasn't touched the ball but is chasing him around we might shift that forward to full forward to try and drag him away from the play. I expect that when we are constantly bombing into an unmanned forward line and turning it over that we make a conscious decision to hold it up for 5 seconds on the wing to allow players to get back. None of these are significant changes in game plans. But is frustrating when we see the same things happen over and over and over within the same game, without any positional or tactical moves to try and neutralise areas the opposition are winning.
