No doubt at all, that would change things. I still think we would go best available at 3. I think best available at 3 is Francis, but its one of those years where a case could be made for about 5-6 players. What makes it more difficult is that there is 2 mouth watering prospects in Curnow and Weiderman that haven't played much footy this year, or been limited in their preparation. So those 2 players have tremendous upside - but also a high level of risk. Also, Curnow hasn't really locked down a position, he is versatile at under 18 level, but not exceptional in any position, I would lean towards overlooking Curnow, even at pick 7.

Depends how you look at it. I think its smart of Parish to not over commit. Some players (like Viney used to) take the opposition players out of the contest, but also take themselves out of the contest, its not smart to do that, and Parish seems aware of this. I have been him completely miss tackles, but mostly he is looking at the 3rd or 4th piece of play. Its all about recovery, as much as I love Oliver, he often over commits to tackles, and that doesn't do his teammates any good.

Francis. I think we'll take him at 3. Pick 7 is the more interesting one. But I think a tall will slide, GC have no use for another tall - and probably a somewhat speculative one. They have Lynch, Day and Wright, So I think we will be in a position to consider Curnow/Weiderman, or take a midfielder in Oliver/Milera (I don't think Parish will make it to 7). Pretty good position to be in, but I can't see us overlooking Francis at 3, he is a Roos type player, and he ticks all the boxes, eventually he will push into midfield and be strong, powerful type (like Dangerfield).

They are going to need to these quality kids. They stuffed up big time on the Franklin deal, and that will come back to hurt them at some point.

He would've played at Casey anyway, and he still would've needed a good year down there. Nothing really changes.

I don't think we'll take Curnow. He is too sloppy to make it as a mid, and there is no certainty he'll make it as a forward. To my eye he is versatile in under 18's, but hardly exceptional at anything he does, looks a 3 touch player, not that clean. I wouldn't have him anywhere near the level of Francis. And I definitely wouldn't take Curnow ahead of safer picks like Parish or Oliver.

With Parish, Francis and Oliver the clear standouts IMO (not including Schache/Weitering), it will be interesting to see who we take first.

It will be largely dependent on how he recovers from the ACL. Based on his TAC cup form, I'd be inclined to agree with ProDee - Petracca did look like a once in a generation player. I remember watching him thinking he is as good a athlete as I have seen come through the TAC. Now it all depends on the knee IMO.

I only care about the training reports. More often than not, Saty was the only person to report on training. I can't speak for anyone else, but I live in country Vic, so I am/was very appreciative of Saty's reports. I think it is a real shame that some posters want to pick apart trivial aspects of Saty's reports. He likes to big note, big deal, get over it. Now Saty probably won't report, and Demonland will be worse off - due to a minority of flogs that cannot handle Saty dropping a few names.

IMO Saty's training reports were/are the best thing about Demonland. I look forward to his reports, and I hope he sticks around. In my short time on the site, I am yet to see a member contribute more to the site - Moderators not included.

I agree, but I do think he could rest in a forward pocket. He has a big body, and he uses it well.

I'm a big Jack Watts fan, I understand that he hasn't quite lived up to his junior form - which was exceptional. But he hasn't been deplorable, although some like to paint that picture (mostly opposition supporters/media). In saying that, there is a lot of room for improvement, I don't think the penny has dropped, and I still believe it will. I think there is a lot of improvement left in blokes like Watts, hopefully Trengove as well.

I don't think they are similar. Scully only had/has one pace, has doesn't tread water and he doesn't see the bigger picture, he is a selfish football play, not the greatest kick (because he doesn't slow down, has no poise), whereas Parish is an intuitive footballer, sees the bigger picture and will often lay a tackle, bounce up and receive the hands off, if you watch Parish play, you will see he has a great understanding of the game.

Agree, it will be years before we know whether we're winners, much like the Tyson/Salem vs Kelly trade. We don't know the quality of 2015 draft group vs 2016 draft group, and won't for some time. I think the most important thing is we get right the picks that we have.

If the money is there in the future, I think there could be room for another league entirely. I can see more and more people becoming disenchanted with the AFL. If outside interests (say China) were to throw a stack of dollars on the table, and offer up another option (new league), then I can't see why that couldn't happen. The AFL shouldn't have a mortgage on the game of Aussie rules, absolutely not. Australia is a completely different climate to other nations (US), and I think a new league could easily find traction in the future. I would love to see it happen.

I think we should take Francis, not on the assumption that he is going to be a gun midfielder, but on the basis of him being a very good player. The only question for me is - how do we go about getting Francis and Parish to the MFC? Do we take Parish first and hope Francis slides through to 7? Or vice versa.

Yeah he's certainly not soft. He just isn't silly and doesn't over commit. He has a sharp footy brain, he realizes quicker than most that if he can't get the football - then lay a tackle, or push on to the next play. In a football climate where players aren't supposed to dive on the ball, I think Parish is an ideal type, he doesn't over commit. As much as I also like Clayton Oliver, his opponent can often run off him, because he can over commit. Parish seems a little bit more aware of the bigger picture, he is an intuitive football player. In saying that, I would be happy with either.
