  1. He's made a few turnovers from memory.
  2. We are in this if we convert our chances. Wasting so many!
  3. So many utterly wasted opportunities in the last 10 minutes. Pathetic.
  4. Dawes is a fantastic addition but his misses have cost us the lead and the momentum.
  5. Well done JKH! Need to get the next!
  6. Desperately needed another goal before half time there. Still winnable but we just can't get and keep possession.
  7. Think we clearly ended up winning in his defection. Vince or Sylvia? Not even a question for me. Can imagine other players riling him up in the WAFL, telling him he's not good enough for Freo. He wouldn't take those comments lightly, but his problem is he doesn't use criticism as ammunition to try harder. Lazy, lazy, lazy.
  8. These bastards hijacked the news coverage for our first win of the season, and Jonesy's BOG match. Just another reason to hate Carlscum!!!! I saw the news crews filming the team at recovery yesterday but didn't see anything about it on the news.
  9. Be interesting if Roos could turn him into a bit of a Crowley-esque tagger.
  10. The difference in on-field leadership has been really great to watch. Dawes is a terrific (and somewhat modest) leader, and probably unofficially became the leader of the forwards when Clark retired. Hogan's development is in great hands! I heard Crossy mention on the radio today that the group he's "in charge of" is Michie, Viney and Tyson (or Toump, can't remember). I'm guessing this is something Roos and Stone have put in place to help develop our younguns?
  11. Be disappointing for him if he was ignored because of the Bombers loss. If anything, the sign of a true rising star would be the player that stands up and makes themselves known in the face of a crushing defeat. Didn't watch the game but his stats are pretty impressive.
  12. Hah, take it easy there mate, was a fairly obviously tongue in cheek comment about the Hogan/Kent household. Hogan's in great spirits if his latest MFC interview is any indication, despite the running theme being 'Hogan looks kinda miserable at training.' Hopefully means he's not too far off his debut. As for the "comment re the game against Meth Coast", if you're referring to when JKH kicked his first AFL career goal and trudged back to the centre square without the team coming over to congratulate him, I did find that a bit mystifying. But clearly I'm not the scholar of the game you are. Anyway, certainly not worth lowering the convo to personal attacks.
  13. I know they're a young club, but how have the Gold Coast responded the week after most floggings? Do they go into their shells, or come out the next week and push that much harder? Clearly Carlton were the former, but Gazza is a superstar. He'll rally them up.
  14. He'll have plenty more chances this season to show his potential, but can't think of many other under-10 gamers that had much of a highlights reel this round? Although that was a freakishly good/lucky goal of his (probably best of the round), the smarter option was passing to Dawes and he copped a spray as a result. It was the riskier option at a time when the game was still in the balance. I have no idea what the criteria is for rising star noms though, so he might be in with a chance. EDIT: Based off this, no chance: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_rising_stars_round_performances?year=2014&round=4&sby=14
  15. Are attendances again down year-on-year this round? Has to be a very worrying trend for the AFL. Although they're financially viable from the healthy TV rights deal, if ratings continue to plateau the next bidding war might not prove as fruitful for their coffers.
  16. Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall tomorrow when Miller meets with Roos to discuss the game and Trenners' form? Not sure what Jack can do to reinvent himself, but something's gone terribly wrong with him during the Neeld years (although he isn't alone there). All I can assume is the burden of captaincy has broken his mental fortitude, rather than making him thrive from the experience and pressure.
  17. Just sprayed a glass worth of water all over the monitor.
  18. Derm's definitely a few cogs short of a watch, but he's definitely the sort of bloke you'd want to have a few beers with at the pub.
  19. I think it just shows the difference it makes to our game plan having that key forward on the park. The coaches have been saying the same thing after every loss, and to nab the victory as soon as we get the key forward back in is a huge monkey off the team's back. They were true to their words and the game plan started to take shape. I'm under no illusions we still could finish off the year with only a handful of wins, but I was seeing some very clever, very structured plays that led straight to goals. Whether that's just an indictment of Carlton, or the cogs finally clicking into place for our list, will be clearer in a month or two.
  20. Great interview, the man really is a fantastic speaker and representative for the club. Makes really thoughtful comments and not just the usual uninsightful puff you often hear from football players. Would love to see him move into coaching after he finishes playing, as Eddie said.
  21. Ablett is the match winner though and needs to be target numero uno.
  22. Wasn't aware of that. Nuts. Well, get in the boy's ear and tell him to drop off this year so we can take him as a third rounder.
  23. We're talking about Paul Roos here. His recruitment at the Swans was second to none. I predict we'll get Stretch with a second round pick, so what the club will do is offload our high second round pick (probably between 19 and 22 at this rate) in exchange for a player and low second round pick from another club, likely at the top end of the ladder (teams overflowing with depth and keen on better picks so they can continue developing youngsters). Then we can use this lower pick (around 30 to 36) on Stretch. That way we get the value out of our second rounder, and the kid who wants to bleed red and blue for us at a bargain pick.
  24. I'm glad Kent is rooming with Hoges. He can go home and take the positive mindset with him. Hopefully it rubs off on the slightly depressed looking Jesse.
