  1. We need to use a pick in the draft to upgrade Jetta to our senior list, as he was technically a rookie list player this year.
  2. Would guess Garlett going between midfield and half-forward if Roos' comments are any indication. JKH more as a small forward.
  3. I think the holdup with Geelong is just the Buckley/Varcoe/Bali situation. But there were rumours about the second and third rounders being packaged. So we'd get Lamumba and Geelong's third rounder.
  4. I like it... I like it a lot! Bulldogs get their key forward, GWS get their man and only give up one player, Melbourne get a gun midfielder.
  5. Basically a free small crumbing forward entering his prime. You ripper!
  6. Wouldn't surprise me. Basically get him for free unless GWS want a fifth rounder. We could probably bring in a fourth round pick in another trade and give them that. I'd say 83 is reserved for Jetta now though.
  7. So, anyone confused about how this deal will happen now? Our third rounder is for Stretch, our fourth rounder went to Carlton for Garlett and our fifth rounder is for Jetta. So... are we trying to get two players for our second rounder? Frost plus a third rounder?
  8. Feel horrible for the Dogs. First Ward and barely being compensated, now their current captain. Seriously, WTF? They've taken every scrap of talent in the draft for 4 years straight and now they're taking captains from other struggling clubs.
  9. Geez this is becoming frightening. Very scared for retaining Hogan now despite the contract extension. I'm guessing this means the Saints are keeping pick 1 after we forced their hand with McCartin at pick 3. Interesting.
  10. That last part is fascinating. Petracca also said we asked the hardest questions and it took him a few minutes to answer something we asked.Roos comes across as such a personable and approachable type. Obviously likes to see how draftees cope under pressure. He must be quite different behind closed doors. Or who knows, maybe he's just incredibly revered by draftees and that boils the nerves.
  11. So much for this trade being done first thing in the morning.
  12. Possibly giving up our second rounder to GWS for their third rounder in the Frost deal. Maybe that's the aforementioned third rounder? Adelaide then give us their second rounder, so we still have some picks to trade. But you're right, bit of a dent in the rumour.
  13. Blease, Tappy and Strauss no longer have trade currency with the advent of delisted free agency. Any club that wants them can get them for free after trade week, so why bother trading them in? At least picks have currency.
  14. Wouldn't surprise me if we gave Carlton our 4th rounder for Garlett. If GWS want our second rounder badly enough they'll bundle it with a fringe midfielder like Tomlinson, and we'll bundle our pick with Blease.
  15. No way we should pay more than our 4th rounder for Frost. Especially when we can just let him walk into the PSD and get him for free. We'll have a better idea of the club's plan once we see if Garlett is a straight swap for Blease. Roos would be holding on to pick 23 for another Bernie Vince type midfielder deal.
  16. Roos earned a reputation of being fair in trades. He likes win-win deals, as evidenced last year. The reason trades are being held up is because other clubs are being ridiculous with their demands, and it takes a week for anything sensible to actually happen. It must frustrate Roos to no end who would rather just get [censored] out of the way. For example, GWS demanding our second rounder for rookie pick-up Frost. Yeah, right. We'll really give you pick 22 for a <20 game defender. He's OOC you numbskulls, we will happily let him walk to the PSD and you can receive nothing if you like? We're being generous with our fourth rounder, so take it and run. You need to cull your list anyway. In short, we aren't here to screw anyone, but we're not going to simply let bigger clubs walk over us with ridiculous lowball trades (the Bulldogs paltry offers for pick 3 are another example of pathetic trade attempts -- it doesn't work with a guy like Roos in charge). Offer a fair price and the trade gets done. If clubs stopped looking for ways to "win" a trade then things would go much faster.
  17. We'd only do our second rounder for 2 GWS players. Frost and a midfielder. On his own he's a 4th rounder at best. Tomlinson and Frost for our 2nd rounder would be alright.. throw in our 4th rounder for good measure.
  18. Considering Roos spent all year talking about improving the midfield... we're not... uh, actually trading in any midfielders here. I see a half back flanker, a key defender, and a small forward.
  19. Obviously clubs just play funny buggers for the first week and nothing serious actually happens until the final 2 days. If GWS legitimately think we're that stupid... well... isn't he OOC anyway?? Let him walk to the PSD for crying out loud.
  20. Our second rounder for Frost?? He was taken in the rookie draft and has played 12 games. Tell 'em they're dreaming!
  21. Yes, quite spectacular that the only thing about it on the AFL website is a glowing propaganda piece about this "creative" idea. "Thinking outside the box" is the headline. Probably seemed a better headline than "Two finalists collude draft tampering because Essendon are stubborn [censored]."
  22. Doubt any club will pick up Tappy, Blease or Strauss as steak knives in a trade. All 3 become DFA at the end of the year, so any club can pick them up for free if they choose. Just as we'll take Gwilt without giving St Kilda anything.
