  1. Both Danger and Beams isn't as unrealistic as it sounds. We can afford both, we have the trade currency for both (if the other teams play ball, Collingwood accept 3 & 12, Adelaide 2 & Toumpas), and we have a settled coaching group ready to take us to the next level. Beams/Danger/Tyson/Jones/Vince/Cross/Viney/Salem is an exceptional mix of experienced talent, young and old. Yeah, I'm probably dreaming...
  2. Don't think you'll have to wait too long for that wish to come true.
  3. An absolute gem. Just about the only pre-Taylor recruitment success story so late into the draft for our club. I really hope he takes the next step after a solid, uninterrupted pre-season. He has flashy moments of brilliance (Port and Essendon games) but goes missing in others. I think Garlett will probably take his role from this year, so Roos might have another idea for him.
  4. Or... this Phil guy has a pretty high opinion of himself and thinks he can turn the club around, play finals, and convince Danger to re-sign instead of losing him. Danger's only spoken to him over the phone, but presumably there's a bit to play out here. Walsh seems to have a very Neeld-esque my way or the highway approach. Will it work with that playing group?
  5. The pace of the game has skyrocketed over the last few years... Trenners has a beautiful kick and classy disposal. His set shot kicking is pretty good. But he is slooooooow for the modern game. Slow players do not succeed in Roosy's gameplan of hard chasing, defensive gut running, tackling pressure... you can't tackle guys if you aren't fast enough to catch them. And for my money Jack almost epitomises the "scarred" player template that Roos has constantly referred to.
  6. I've got it! Strauss, Blease & Tappy for Dangerfield & Patrenko!
  7. Giving up Varcoe is giving up peanuts for Geelong, when they're getting a freaking near-AA forward in Clark. I'll be much happier if we get pick 33 + Lamumba from the deal. Otherwise they're getting away with murder.
  8. Just delisted by the Crows. Any thoughts?
  9. Good to see teams not just letting go of their players for unders because they've "nominated" a preferred club, even if they don't have the currency to offer a fair trade. Except GWS, who stupidly accepted steak knives for O'Rourke. Wish we'd done the same for Clark.
  10. So he can lose even more currency if he's no good following his surgery?
  11. If Trenners gets us pick 12... I can see: Pick 3 and 12 satisfying Colonwood for Beams Pick 2 and Toumpas satisfying Adelaide for Danger Tell them both they'll be playing together so they're reassured about the state of our list, give them fat and lengthy contracts. Danger has the connections with Vince, Riley and Goodwin. Beams has the connections with Dawes and Lamumba who also can't stand Buckley. Make it happen Roosy. We didn't lobby for pick 3 for another 18 year old lottery pick.
  12. Feel for McCartney, almost all of the young kids at the Bulldogs were coming on very nicely. He definitely earned his stripes as a development coach, but perhaps lacked the strategic aspects of implementing the gameplan on match day. Serious culture problems at the Bulldogs, they're such a 'nothing' team. They don't stand for anything and almost have a worse culture than us (at least they win more games though). Would love Macca as a development coach working alongside Stone, Miller, etc.
  13. Beams, Brayshaw, Stretch, Lamumba, Frost, Garlett.... and trading out a couple of the "scarred" players (I trust in whoever Roos has identified) for high picks/established mids... feeling pretty good about the trade period now. And steady improvement next year could see us land Danger as a free agent for zilch.
  14. And that became abundantly clear over the last month.
  15. The future leadership of the club after Jones rests on Viney and Tyson. Can comfortably see those two leading us into finals in 4 years time.
  16. We're taking Brayshaw if we have any picks inside the top 3 at the draft.
  17. 'H' seems simple enough for me. Kind of like a character in those James Bond movies.
  18. All he is... is yet another victim of the pathetic management that brought this club to its knees for years on end with absolute mindbogglingly awful decisions. Roos would be completely sympathetic to the situation he's in, all because the idiots running the joint simply didn't have a clue. Poor kid did NOT deserve all the pressure that was heaped on his shoulders, and that sure as hell wouldn't have happened with people like PJ and PR running the joint. The sad reality is they weren't, and we have to make hard decisions to improve our team. It might end up being the best thing for him if he can flourish next year at another club and play finals. He's earned it.
  19. Have zero doubt we're only doing this with a bigger plan in the works.
  20. Not that it makes it right, but he wouldn't be the first loyal player in AFL history to be traded away in pursuit of someone better. Think of all the loyal Swans players that abandoned ship after the Buddy deal. Mumford, Malceski are just the beginning... but it got them into a grand final.
  21. Silly GWS, pledging their pick 4 for a 28 year old with a dodgy back.
  22. Especially after living away from him for 6 years pursuing a football career. God forbid anything happens... he'd want to move to be close with his family. I think the trade is fraught with danger (no pun intended) if we really do intercept his plans to move to Brisbane.
