  1. That was a delicious tackle. One of them every quarter from here on please, Mr. Vandenberg. Don't even care if you give away the free kick, but I'd be happy to see the Dees playing unsociable football from now on.
  2. Inclined to think their arrogance cost them the game at selection. "Oh, it's Melbourne, a guaranteed win so we can finally drop Jesse White!" "Oh, it's Melbourne, Elliott's not ready to come back but we'll make him the sub and he'll still find a way to kick 3 goals!"
  3. Was interesting. Gotta wonder if it was Chunk trying to galvanise his team? Would love it if that were the case.
  4. Some disgusting umpiring in the 4th quarter there to help get West Coast over the line. Too bad the maggots ended up creating a draw. That non-call for a blatant holding the ball was as close to corrupt umpiring as I've seen all year.
  5. North smashing Carlton now. They fall apart like the hot garbage they are. I still reckon we could beat North though. There's a stench about that match in the same vein the Bulldogs, Richmond and today's match had.
  6. Caro brought this up in the pre-match interview with PJ, questioning Roos' dedication to the club with the exit deadline approaching. Seems PJ had the discussion with Roos staying on in some capacity, conceding he'll find it hard to leave the club after everything he's done to get them off the bottom.
  7. It's almost entirely above the shoulders, I reckon. We just need to keep getting wins, whether ugly/indifferent/scrappy/impressive, and continue to eradicate the losing culture of the past.
  8. Well, Sue 1, Lamashtu 0! Very happy to eat humble pie today! T'was a bloody good win. Thought the tall forward line would be a disaster but even Dawes' misses didn't matter in the end. Pies smalls didn't fire and Elliott being the sub made a huge difference overall I think. Turns out Cloke's 5 goals on Queen's Birthday may have been the difference after all! So please Demons, please carry this form, run and attack into next week's match. We do appear to respond to the poor publicity, which is a nice change of pace. Now it's time to break the embarrassing two-in-a-row hoodoo.
  9. Need to get our run and dash back and put 2 or 3 quick goals on the board in a row. If we don't score again, we lose (obviously). Collingwood are too good at attacking.
  10. Matching the first quarter against Brisbane right now. Don't forget though, we have an inability to run out games in the same way we start them.
  11. Not getting my hopes up. On paper this is looking encouraging, but if the team don't bother showing up...
  12. Somehow I expect Buckley is coaching his team in an effort to play finals, not an effort to fall down the ladder and secure another top draft pick. Of course, they may view this season as their final "key draft period" for this phase of their cycle; they'll be enjoying many years at the top from next year if their development stays the course.
  13. Very interesting sub for the Pies. No Cloke or Elliott for 3 quarters, both of whom combined for 10 of the Pies' 17 goals on Queens Birthday. I'm sure Moore will step up though. He looked scary good last week.
  14. Vanders hasn't quite been the same since his injury. Perhaps rushed back in too quickly?
  15. Right now, we're roughly where the Saints were probably 2 years ago (going into the 2014 season). Was interesting to hear the comments on SEN yesterday though about the frustration of MFC fans. More pressingly, the caller who was discussing Peter Jackson and the way he deals with people. Seemed quite scathing but well known amongst industry people about his less-than-charismatic approach to people management. Anyone know what they were getting at?
  16. Somehow I doubt Garland would move interstate. He'll be looking at Richmond/North, methinks.
  17. I think it's almost questionable the Geelong result would've occurred if the last 41 seconds of the Saints match had resulted in a win. Teams respond to heartbreaking losses, but we haven't found a way to respond to wins.
  18. The dumbing down of the game by the broadcasters is a disgrace. I just roll my eyes at the gimmicks they continually invent, patronising the "stupid, unintelligent" viewers who simply can't comprehend AFL and need it spelled out to them. It's like Play School for Aussie Rules. Funnily enough, you see no such thing in cricket, basketball, NRL, and so forth. Seven's been nothing short of a disgrace since Ten lost the rights; not having a free-to-air competitor was the worst possible situation for fans of the game. There's no competition, no need to prove themselves, no need to... I don't know... show games in the 21st Century standard that is high definition?
  19. The moronic statement last Friday night about Mitchell probably not getting a game in the ones at 17 other clubs. Probably the dumbest thing Duck's said since, well... we shouldn't go there. As for Wayne's priceless response after the presser (while shifting uncomfortably in his chair)? "Well, Clarko, I called Mitchell and apologised, so... you've got... your team lost tonight! Get over it!" All to rapturous laughter from his equally braindead commentating cohorts at Seven.
  20. Trade to GWS for two first rounders, on-trade one for Prestia, on-trade another for _________ and keep pick 4 for Parish?
  21. LOL Did anyone just see the Clarko presser? Teed off on Carey after a laughable Mark Stevens "interrogation" about Frawley. Boy, oh boy, was that some telly! Glad I stayed up. Carey's body language afterwards was absolutely priceless.
  22. It's pretty ridiculous that they're complaining about not having any first round players on their list. What do you expect when you make a play for the best young midfielder in the comp off Collingwood, of all teams, before his contract's even finished? Of course they're going to rob you blind! Don't turn around a year later and whinge that you have no first round picks anymore! Morons.
  23. First time I'd heard that about both players, but the recent activity of O'Meara in Melbourne certainly makes a lot more sense with that information.
  24. Agree on all counts. The picking and choosing of deliberates was particularly perplexing. Deledio just walked the ball over the line minutes earlier, under no pressure, and the umps can't wait for a stoppage and throw-in. The most minute chance to penalise Hawthorn though? Deliberate! That "in the back" call was an absolute joke, and the fact that umpires can interpret 4 or 5 different potential free kicks from the one incident leaves the game far too open for mass confusion and umpiring favourtism. A... relatively senior MFC personality told me earlier this week that the umpires had "absolutely no f***ing clue" after our Saints match, and after tonight it's hard to disagree.
