  1. Awesome news KC! Love your updates and will be grateful as always to read them this weekend. Hopefully Salem tears them apart!
  2. Doesn't have to be a monster deal, the AFL offer compensation at their own discretion via the secret formula. They won't give them a PP but they'll give them overs for compensation (probably pick 2), similar to the Frawley compo for us (except we legitimately needed help to get off the bottom, unlike Brisbane who merely have a long injury list). If our first rounder goes to Prestia, moving down the draft order doesn't really affect us anyway. Would royally [censored] the other teams around the mark, though. Especially Essendon, who appear to be doing everything in their power to make their own compensation for 2 years of draft sanctions. Ruckman Giles gets the most contested marks in the VFL last week and still isn't promoted to a team in desperate need of a ruckman, utterly bewilderingly playing without one. Yep, real headscratcher that one. Almost as bad as tanking via "playing players out of position." Don't be surprised if Brisbane, too, have a few more devastatingly poor losses so they keep their percentage lower than Gold Coast.
  3. Best mates since they were kids. He re-signed with the Giants last year though.
  4. Interesting statistic I'm shamelessly stealing from BigFooty:
  5. Would be amusing if the truth revealed that both of them rated Toumpas higher than Wines.
  6. Almost undoubtedly a ploy to get their Academy players for peanuts AND still be allowed to draft regular players like any other year.
  7. Don't forget, our "recent" Grand Final appearance (where we lost) was cited as one excuse not to give us a priority pick last year. Brisbane won THREE in a row in the years that followed. This application is laughable.
  8. In case you missed it, the AFL bankrolled Greg Swann as their new CEO last year and you're kidding yourself if you don't think he's been demanding draft assistance since arriving. And, naturally, being an interstate team they'll get money on a tap from the AFL and the draft picks along with it. The injury list won't even be mentioned in the commission's report.
  9. So Fox Footy have dubbed round 18 "RedRound". No idea what this means but we're playing away versus Collingwood at the G. Perfect chance to debut the red strip, far moreso than our potentially clashing white strip.
  10. Didn't Roos say he's being groomed as a midfielder and not a small forward? I think he's very coachable, which would be why Roos likes him so much. We've had far too many players that don't listen to basic instructions, and they all get shown the door at the end of the year.
  11. It's most likely due to confidence in his body, especially after the injury concerns with his back, etc. He'd be rightly concerned about penetrating kicks and the risk it poses to his back. As long as he stays healthy the confidence will sort itself out.
  12. Geez guys, he's not going to be Cyril Rioli in his second year after 20 games.
  13. Wowee, didn't expect both coaches to give Hogan the 5. Impressive.
  14. He's said all along he drafts mids and trades for talls. It makes complete sense because a young team full of undeveloped talls with garbage mids won't go anywhere, but a young team full of promising midfielders only need the talls to get over the line (look at the Saints, Bulldogs last year, even us now). We need mids, mids, mids, mids, mids, mids, and more mids. Midfield depth. Midfielders. Mids.
  15. Patty's manager Paul Connors flew into Adelaide today. He'll be meeting with Patrick either tonight or tomorrow. Make of that what you will but the timing is hard to ignore, to say the least.
  16. Zero-wit? Might be more accurate representation of his brain capacity.
  17. How can you actually not turn up to your hearing initially to state your case, then appeal the result when it doesn't fall in your favour? This guy is a complete halfwit.
  18. No harm in just signing a simple 1 or 2 year contract extension with Adelaide and delay his free agency. It gives him a chance to just put it out of his head, focus on footy and see where the chips fall for both clubs in 12 months time. If he waits, I think he'll find Geelong fall in a heap and Adelaide actually contend within a year or two.
  19. If Dank's appeal delays the CAS hearing this will drag long into 2016 now (as if we didn't expect that already). Got a feeling the Bombers will come out very flat this weekend, again.
  20. Would be ecstatic if this happened, not only to screw over Geelong for their laughable arrogance, but it would say a great deal about Dangerfield's character if he stayed true to his club after the events of the last month. I imagine he's going through a really difficult period at the moment, but after that match yesterday I reckon it'd be impossible to walk away. Rightly or wrongly, he would be derided by punters for walking out now.
  21. Poor comment. Not only is it now apparent he was carrying an undiagnosed injury for who knows how long, but we actually have a semblance of a development team at the club now. They also happen to be doing everything in their power to rectify the development of our kids, rather than throw them off the deep end with one braindead decision after another. What he needs right now is the support of coaches not to return to his pre-2014 form but to develop into the player he was drafted to become. It's blatantly obvious he's never had this chance until now.
  22. As above, nearly spilled my red all over the carpet reading that. Thread title update, please!
  23. All I'll say is that we must finish off this year strongly, not only to give supporters hope but also entice and encourage potential recruits that we're a destination on the improve. Last year's finish was utterly abysmal and left a dark cloud over the club for months. I don't give a damn about dropping from pick 4 to pick 6 if it means nabbing another 3 wins before the year ends.
  24. We've kicked over 100 points multiple times this year. I'm convinced that's the benchmark the coaches WANT the team to be getting every week, but when things go awry we get... well, the last 3 weeks.
  25. Richo intimated in his post-match that McCartin might be sticking around in the ones now to keep learning off Riewoldt. He definitely wasn't ready upon debut and still looked a pre-season away from having much impact in their match against the Tigers. It will inform where McDonald plays next week though, if the Saints go in with Riewoldt/Bruce/McCartin as their forward line.
