  1. Its not about casting blame so much as trying to understand the reasons and their intermingling impacts upon the outcome of the season and learn what measures need to be undertaken. Facilities, injuries and football management are all relevant points to be considered. When allegations and are made in absence of facts or understanding it aint common sense. He will be looked at as part of review of the whole football department. And so he should be. But lets drop the innuendo and guilt by association in lieu of the outcome of the review. It achieves nothing.
  2. Exactly Maurie. Drafting a big man with your first pick is not the silver bullet people are building it up to be around here.
  3. He would be one of the ultimate fluff balls At 31 next year, his ability to regain fitness is highly doubtful. He got sacked from Port Power in 2005. He has turned up 2 seasons in a row fat, no football conditioning and overweight. He does not front to a game during the year because he was drunk. And you ask "if the passion remains?" His attitude is a cancer on the already questionable culture of this Club. Our ladder position reflects that. He is only getting a game because we have 26 fit players. He is not best 22. He is an embarrassment against the footballer who won the NSM in 2004. He was brought on to give us a harder edge especially around finals time. It was a worthy experiment but it has been a costly and embarrassing failure. I am completely amazed that some posters celebrate the tiniest morsel of footy output and an overblown reputation for intimidation (useless if you cant run to a contest) from him as a misguided and soft basis to retain a player that has drastically failed the Club, his teammates and supporters in a big way. He should be gone by next week.
  4. I agree. People are overlooking the ranking for picks in the PSD where I would much prefer pick 2 to pick 4. Given the number of players we should delist/retire the PSD will become important to us this year.
  5. Thanks Bobby. In all honesty I have not done much research at all into Bohdan and I dont have an opinion either way on his ability. However, I have read some extraordinary criticisms of him by people who clearly have no idea of the role of football departments and fitness experts and have blamed him for a variety of club problems which do not appear to be the role of the fitness adviser. I am awaiting a spurious nexus of Bohdan with global warming! When challenged these critics respond in manner that only highlights they are not in an informed position to make the unfair judgements. However, as part of the review of a horrendous year all aspects of the football department should be subject to informed and sensible scrutiny including Bohdan's role. If he has failed his role he should go. But that should be the result of the investigation and not a suuporter site witch hunt.
  6. With his crippling OP, Judd aint worth half his best value. He cant run and cant kick ATM. Given MFC's players problems with OP, I would not chase another player plagued with it. OP is worse than a knee reconstruction. At least there is a set and proven treatment and recovery process. With OP....its an endless uncertain road with limited upside.
  7. From the person who has as his signature.... "BRETT RATTEN - THE ONLY MAN TO LEAD THE DEMONS FORWARD"
  8. The Club is not holding back the announcement. They are continuing to work through the process which was looking at an early September announcement any way.
  9. The game starts and ends in the midfield. We were crap this year. Its only gets down in the backline when the midfield get beaten. Franky I think you are spot on with this. Whelan's rating on this site trades on past glories which have been overcome by injury and lack of form. He has struggled the past two years and has not cut itr further up the ground. IMO, next year could be his last. Agree with both points Maurie.
  10. His opponents would need to be standing next to him. Frankly I could not care what sort of tackles they were (but most violent ), he is still under AFL condition and only got 11 touches of the pill. Its a quality that befits a team that is playing off for the wooden spoon. He is just making up numbers at the Club and has cheated one and all this year. He can ponder his future at the end of Sunday because its not with MFC.
  11. Read the Match of the Century Thread - Post 70. And next year dont complain about team and list deficiencies if we win on Sunday. The sentiments shown about losing are exactly those supporting the team.
  12. Short term pain for longer term gain. I look at today....would you rather Bell or Woewodin on your list? I'd take Bell. The Woey decision was the correct one at the time and has been shown to be so. Hard decisions need to be made to the list. HIs position should be part of that review. I am concerned that physically and performance wise, Robbo ihas been struggling both form and output and if we dont seek appropriate value for him now, we lose that window of opportunity. He is far from untouchable ATM. Its a problem done at MFC that mediocre performing players are treated as such.
  13. I think the rule is that you need to have less than 16.5 points in the H & A season for PP entitlement. That's 4 wins or less.
  14. Just as important there will be no PPs in the 1st or 2nd round.
  15. You are seeking to hold him responsible for issues that are broadly the responsibility of the whole football department. He should come under scrutiny for issues that he is definitely responsible for. So far its been speculation and innuendo.
  16. It may not be just his option for the decision there. At who's option for the 3rd year. If the club wants to keep him. Just give him two years and then assess at contract end. How about set additional real targets that also assist the team of tackles and defensive efforts? If you give him a games/goals target he will play for himself. I think he shown some evidence of that this year.
  17. The fact is that Bohdan was responsible for Jones's program which he the player has public commented on as benefitting him. I am at a loss at what the relevance of your first point. Why isnt Bohdan's training suitable for AFL players? Has this long time (gives credibility) fitness trainer seen his program at MFC? I have a number of friends who study sports science too. What's your point in raising that? You socialise alot?! Jaded, do the sums on the sides body weight. Aside from Jones, how much weight has been lost from this year to last by players on the list? Which players trimmed down? There was a post on this about six months ago that including Jones it was about 10kgs in total. When you are looking at about 36 players weighing an 85 kgs each. That's about 0.3%. That does not include Byron's blowout which would probably end in a net gain in weight overall for the team. Our tackling has been poor for a number of reasons with the absence of McLean, Pickett and Bartram from midfield rotations. As a side our lack of intensity overall and jelly like performance of many of our senior players further added to that. Our form early and the impact of injuries further crushed players confidences. You should light your torch for the witch hunt on this one Jaded.
  18. No I have never met him. Why is that relevant? I just dont buy into witch hunts on public figures in the Club based on misinformation and speculation. I work on facts and evidence which is not always a basis of criticism on this site. The finger has been pointed without any clear evidence.
  19. If Carlton and Richmond win, then MFC are spooners ( ) MFC get picks 1,17(PP), 18, 34,50,66... Neither Richmond or Carlton get a PP. Great stuff. MFC gets a 2nd round PP. If Carlton wins but Richmond lose then MFC is 2nd last. MFC gets 2, 18(PP),20,36,52,68. Richmond and MFC get a 2nd round PP each. If MFC wins and Richmond wins MFC gets 4, 20,36,52, 68 Carlton gets the spoon and a 1st round PP. (ie Picks 1 & 2). Richmond get no PP pick 3. MFC get no PP and pick 4 If MFC wins and St Kilda wins -most likely outcome IMO <_< MFC gets 4,21,37, 53, 69 Tigers get the spoon and a 2nd round PP (18). Carlton will get picks 1 (1sr round PP) and 3. Hell, I hope we lose it next Sunday. A perfect Father's Day present. But I can see three teams all being hit by a mystery virus that was brought in from Japan!
  20. I would have thought for all the misinformation spread about Bohdan, I think the fitness progam for players like Jones have paid off in spades. Would it be a problem if the new Coach kept Bohdan?
  21. Fine form Redleg. Many who have been arguing against this issue I think should have probably seen the light and gone to ground. I dont think Carlton are good enough to tank it at the micro level on the ground but FCS they have given the best impression of it at the selection table and through the interchange. What annoys me is that we will probably find a way to win it!
  22. Agree. It also highlights how much stock you should place on posters who made big uninformed calls on players who have only just been drafted. Frawley looks alright to me in his first year.
  23. The injuries we have had have not necessarily arised from collision. Some of them have occurred from landing awkwardly from a mark, some have occurred through losing footing when in motion, others have occurred from occurrences while in the action of play. There are a number of long term injuries which have been occurred by stresses on the body (eg OP). The answer to your question though is not necessarily. There are many factors at play when two moving objects collide and having the stronger body may not mean you are less likely to incur an injury. There are many reasons why each and every injury has occurred this year and I am sure the Club's medicos will review this at season's end. Its a cover all to say its bad luck. Its absolute BS to lay the blame at the hands of the fitness adviser. While no one on this thread has made allegations, there have been a number of factless and misinformed smears at the fitness adviser, Bohdan. In addition the claim of smaller body size/weight this year and its negative impact on the team has been ignorantly and mischieveously applied. FWIW, Nathan Jones is the only player to have scaled down some body size and isnt he better for it. Been a star this year because he has the ability to run out games which he could not do last year. In all truth, the whole football department will probably change at year end (sans CAC). As a consequence of this change, Bohdan might be a casualty of this broader broom sweep. If he does go, I hope the unfounded and misguided slurs on him go as well. They have as much credibility as Kevin Andrews acting in the best interests of Australia.
  24. Agreed. After the season we have had, we should explore all options with Robbo and other senior players at seasons end. I am worried that a three year contract has a similar ring to the generous retirement package we signed up another player with an unlucky number to who has lost the capacity for AFL.
  25. Not only is Nasher correct. When we have played direct football Miller was not part of it. I dont see how picking up cheap uncontested kicks in no man's land on the centre wing is of any value. FWIW, I would be happy for a CHB to concede the CHF cheap positions on the wing. It means he is not getting a sniff near the F50 and you know with Miller he cant use it and does not hurt oppositions with the few possessions he does get. The problem with Miller is not the coaching. He just isnt as good as supporters wanted him to be and are finding bizarre scapegoats rather than dealing with the fact. If a player is 24 and been on your list for six years and cant cut a regular game how much better can he get and what development should there be. he should be entering the best part of his career. He is not. And I dont see the relevance of the 30 + plus players many of whom are at the end of fine AFL careers where at their peak *cough* 22 to 28 they were established AFL capable players. No its not. Miller was not good enough when Bate was not playing. BTW, Bate is a better but different footballer than Miller. Miller has been tried up back and failed. His limitations up forward dog him down back. I agree with the third rounder. As I have said I would take it if it came up. If he cant be traded he will probably be retained for depth unless Miller plumbs for the PSD. Who gives a stuff what other supporters are thinking. Its not relevant nor does it make Miller a better player. Nasher is on the money.
