  1. Good post Twinkies. I cant believe the pile of uninformed tripe that has been served up by people on this site allegedly "in the know" or have fixed or firm views on who would be the best coach here. They are all so far from the where true analysis is done it not funny. But saying that if it is Bailey....welcome to the greatest and oldest club in Australia. I hope you bring many changes and much success to us.
  2. Couldn't agree more. So much for all "He got so much to give" assessments. Never have I seen a more apathetic attitude in the senior player. Good riddance indeed.
  3. Its amazing the poor souls who are feeling a touch livid about something they clearly know bugger all about the candidates nor their contributuions in the recruitment process.
  4. Possibly improves his trade value. :D I dont know what currency 10 goals has against a side that is evidently tanking and presumably flogged by a hell of a margin.
  5. I would do it like this: in: four injured players out: four fit players (would exclude Pickett from that category!) :D
  6. Agreed Nozz. Speculation in the absence of fact.
  7. No contradictions at all. If the footy department and new coach approached next year with the likelihood that they would end up with less than 4 wins then they should not have been appointed via the process and it has failed one and all. There is a difference between planning for the likelihood of underperformance in a year (2008) as opposed with dealing with outcome and consequences of underperformance in the current year.
  8. Is pick 18 the 2nd round PP you were down playing on another thread? Gee doesnt it come in handy! FWIW, they probably would do the deal. Its screws MFC though. Normally the deals posted go the other way.
  9. If the Club approached it on that basis, then the footy department should be sacked. It is ridiculous to argue that the extra 2nd PP will not be a plus to the list to assist us to win. A win against a shallow tanking outfit is meaningless and forgettable and does nothing for the Club. Its all depends on what you class a win for the Club. I know where the true victory is.
  10. Would MFC be happy to offer a 5 year contract? Personally, I dont like them as so much can happen over that time with injury and form that MFC could be left with a poor deal based on 2007 $$$. I would have thought Carlton and Richmond might be interested and up the ante with a better pick. I would like to get an late second round/ early third round pick from StK to go with pick 9.
  11. Arent they swapping one injury-prone underachiever for another?
  12. They give up a high quality hard to find AA FB, an AFL standard player for a one paced middle of the road midfielder (how many goals has he kicked this year from the midfield?) and a NQR below AFL standard player and two second round picks. Rutten would command more. I would do it in a flash. Its a stinker for Adelaide
  13. Sylvia has been on our list for 4 years and will be damaging in 5 years. 9 years is a long long time for a midsize player to deliver. That's not class..its unfulfilled potential and under achiever. ....Another TJ on our hands. When is Moloney going to be injury free? Clock is ticking on his career and he has missed 2 years already.
  14. Great deal for the Kangas. They give up a player who fit AFL Standard and who could be something very special and they get a player who has missed two years of footy with OP and is still in trouble and another player who has been nursed through OP for the past three years and may have a few out of hours problem. They should take it!
  15. Spot on. Why are trades always posted that are potentially good for MFC and absolutely rotten for the counterparty on this site?
  16. Almost as good as the inside word..... <_<
  17. A very good point Kryton. I think many of the debutants this year had a real baptism of fire amongst mounting injuries to senior players, absence of on field leaders and the general lack of team confidence. They deserve special merit for their efforts in a poor side in a difficult situation. I am enthused about the future for Newton, Buckley, Pettard, Frawley. Garland and Bode got a taste and could be better for the run. Its interesting that some of the 2006 debutants (Bate and Dunn) went through form troughs in difficult conditions. All the more reason to celebrate the unerring efforts of Nathan Jones.
  18. Why do people make those stereotyped generalisation involving Aboriginal players? It clearly is no more the case with them than with non Aboriginal players. Having Pickett, Whelan and Davey in the same club has had no discernible positive impact on the individual form of any of them this year. Its a falsehood that keeps being trotted out.
  19. Spare me the name calling. Its childish, belittles you and your point of view and you should refer the Code of Conduct on this So much for always playing in the forward pocket? Did I say he was a midfielder? He played all over the ground. Streaming from the backline can be the midfield but it certainly aint the FP. Enjoy watching the 2004 GF again on video. Its amazing what you miss when you are at the game! B)
  20. Good post Dr. I would lower the height on a good ruckman to 200cm +. I aint seen many that a good over 205cm. I will take one if they are any good.
  21. It might be nice that instead of ffffffotsteps, he were to be intimidating with the football in his hand. What you are arguing is a nice to have as opposed as need to do. For all the intimidation he reeks, it shows for little unless opponents have a child memory of Garfield the cat. Bollocks. Pickett has played all over the ground even at MFC. He would have been the first player to win the NSM from the FP. And he did not go in the midfield once? As I recall he made a number of seering runs off the backline through the midfield going forward. You might like to watch the GF again and check your "facts".
  22. I didn't. I dont know you and I made no judgement on you. Wow! Sign him up to scare the kids in the other team. What a useless measure to justify a player on the list. At present he intimidates no one with his lack of fitness and conditions and embarrasses the Club. The way you intimidate oppositions is by being hard in the contested situations, consistently winning the ball week after week, four quarter a game and using it well. Thats intimidation and that how you do it in AFL. There are other forms of aggression but they will get you penalties a la Baker. It a credit to the low standards we accept that we are now celebrating the fact that he has dropped excess weight from mid year when he still does not have the match fitness to run out a game of football. We have to hide him in the forward pocket because he cant meet the pace in the midfield. From his games at Sandy he was huffing and puffing after very little exertion. Its the same in the AFL. If that's his passion then we should prefer others.
