  1. I remember in the 1990's the Coodabeens had a merger team theme song contest where the entries from listeners were outstanding. There was one entry to the tune of "Road to Gundegai" after a team called North Footskildaroy. Never been more apt than now.
  2. So Brock McLean is an outside midfielder??? And Aaron Davey is an inside midfielder????. Clubs plan and prepare for the fact that MFC players play in certain manner with certain strengths and weaknesses and they look to exploit that. At this stage what is important is that they actually win the ball often from a contest than use it effectively by hand or foot. This is the domain of both the inside and outside midfielder. The classification of midfielders according to attributes is very relevant. Foot skills being just one of them.
  3. Spot on. It reminds me of the financial strength that was created in the Australian Insurance Industry when HIH (financial basket case) bought FAI (basket case) and produced the biggest annual loss at the time in Aust corporate history and the HIH Group sunk with billions of dollars of losses. A merged MFC- NM hybrid non entity would only make it easier for the AFL to shove the mishmash organisation to somewhere else in Australia to set up another Club.
  4. I dont think there were many who said that TU. Only those who did not see the Coburg game on TV.
  5. I actually thought in the first two rounds Spencer gave us more in the centre than PJ did. I would have the order the other way because PJ is apparently one of the best 2nd rucks in the AFL. B)
  6. x2. With Garland, Blease and Meesen(?) on the LTI, lets get them in and try them out.
  7. ....Maybe if we actually had the facts surrounding this rather than jumping to uninformed conclusions
  8. There are varying degrees of injuries. While it is a stress fracture now it may have been a lesser injury before. He could have aggravated it against Geelong.
  9. After their shellacking in the finals last year, they had to rejig the line up to improve. Now Harvey is injured, Wells and others out of form and their experiment of running Firrito and Harding in the midfield after good seasons in defence has hit a wall and left their backline exposed. You are right about the off field issues many involving the Coach whose use by date seems to be coming up. I have said all along that North were the first club in the fire even when every poster was doom and gloom at MFC. We are not out of trouble yet by a long way. North were always that step further toward the cliff than us. If they were keen on survival on their own terms, the North Board should have gone to the GC and taken the money. They chose not to and they will face the consequences.
  10. I cant give a name but the person is close to the Club and a reliable authority. Make of it what you will. I was prepared to bet another poster here a notable contribution to MFC if Meesen were to continue on his existing contract at year end. And I dont like to give easy money away. B)
  11. Agree. Just makes his post # 70 look ridiculous. Bobby would be the last person to work that out.
  12. He isn't critisized in that manner at all. Grow up! Talk about petty.
  13. I was not banking on that one!!! <_< B)
  14. I blame Bohdan Babaczuk for all this. He is the source of all these injuries  Oh and this is further evidence that the gameplan does not suit our list. Only kidding!!!! However i thought I would get in before the torch wielders and assorted pretzels garner their potted logic and start making spurious allegations.
  15. I was trying to be careful to word it but I should have got a legal disclaimer to go with it so it did not imply or intended to imply your question.
  16. True Nasher. NB: I did say near decent.
  17. They whited out the old press release that orginally stated that Fitzroy and North Melbourne should merge. It deserved a run since the swine flu mediademic had fallen off the front pages.
  18. If true and with Spencer and Jamar out we have no near decent ruckman available this week. Crikey!
  19. He's had six years 73 games, an OP crippled body with attitude problems and a lack of footy smarts and little performance. Other Clubs would be salivating to give up their valuable draft picks for that!!! Trade week is the most over hyped event on the football calendar. FWIW, Sylvia though he frustrates me no end is probably closer to a retain than other NQRs atm.
  20. Accepted. I know you mean no harm. By stating that I only want to play 18 to 21 year olds which is not the case you do look silly. I note you have pushed it back to 25yos. Very sensible to do that. Far smarter. The players I have earmarked at year end are players who cannot get on the park fit and have a history of injury. Good players they once were but they provided nothing now. Wheatley and Whelan are in their last years. Maybe you cant work that out but there body is telling that. Junior has been a great player but the quicker game has passed him by. i did not think he would have another year this year. Its the end now. No good have these players around if they are on the medico's bench or dont justify their position, You were lauding him last year as the best 2nd ruck in the AFL. He clearly wasn't and now you are backing away from that. Sensible. For the record, a dominant ruckman is overrated but having a competitive ruckman at the centre contests and the fall of the ball is critical. He fails hands down . And the record, PJ does not kick a couple and offer a target. McIntosh and Fraser both kick plenty on him because he has poor defensive skills. He is a 200 cm rover that does not impact enough games either in the ruck or up forward. I dont know why you want to be critical of Jamar. PJ and Jamar are both ordinary. Its funny that PJ has played 2nd fiddle to three MFC ruckman at different times who are all bog ordinary. He's got you fooled. You are on the record as saying this about Bell. "If we had a list that resembled AFL standard, he would be the guy you'd want to see gone." I dont know why you bother with all the other stuff. That says it all. Thanks for proving my point. Bate has been terrible this year and there may be circumstances so I will cut him some slack but he is a limited footballer that I wonder what upside there is with him going forward. Glad you agree on Dunn. You are on the record as saying this about Bell. "If we had a list that resembled AFL standard, he would be the guy you'd want to see gone." Flip Flop Flip Flop. Oh whats that PJ a ruckman now? You said this about Bell...."If we had a list that resembled AFL standard, he would be the guy you'd want to see gone." And I agree. The rest is backpedalling and contradictory. Wrecker was a very good player but his body gave out some years ago. Its a sad finish to fine career. Who is my golden boy?? As I have said if we could Jamar and PJ would both go. Neither one makes the other better. i dont know why you go on about it. Another little bit of silliness?? Btw, I didn't namesdrop. I wouldn't. I told you because I thought you might want to know since you have tried a silly lampoon of my opinions, I provided this comment as another point of view from an opposition coach who has watched and assessed PJ. I thought it would give you another perspective which you clearly dont want to know about. Oh well. As I have repeatedly said....at year end. You look silly again for doing that. The 8 teenagers was a dull effort to diminish my point of view. Did not work Oh dear. If you cant take the challenging of views and it bothers you so much DD...well the choice is yours. Have a pleasant evening.
  21. Do you think a new club will be that wet behind the years like the Brisbane Bears and given worthwhile draft picks for players who have had up to 7 years AFL experience and perennially failed to have a meaningful impact at that level and often could you grab a place in one of the worst teams I have seen play in the past 20 years? Dream on.
  22. Just after I chided DD for misrepresenting my statements there you go and do your trademark of fabricating another one's views to somehow justify yours. I have been consistent in the assessment of both PJ and Bell. I have never mentioned throwing all 21 to 25 years olds on the scrapheap. *YAWN*. Richmond are on the scrapheap due to their awful list management and their retention of list cloggers. They have them by the score. And they reap the rewards. No what I did say is that Cooney was a talented player who had not delivered on this talent upto early 2007. He has turned that around. Nothing like a bit of truth to dispel a myth of yours Mo They have confidence in their ability to assess whether a player should be kept on the list or not to achieve the footy departments goals. Its not a case of blue sky mining that you make out.
