  1. Simmonds wanted to be a first ruck when we had White and Jolly in reserve. Freak would rather screw the player and make them go through the PSD for nothing No its a reality of modern football that players will seek opportunities that best suit them. There are two issues here. 1. What value you get for the player. (ie draft pick) 2. How you use it (ie who you select?) The outcome of Q2 does not invalidate what you draft pick you got. They are seperate decisions. And the history of past pick 11s has no bearing on the pool of players you potentially select from in the current year. Freak's post does not apply. You want realistically know the outcome of Q1 and Q2 for 5 years. Brock may lift his game and be a star. He might as well go the other way. But given where MFC is going and the personnel coming on board, McLean was no longer the marquee midfielder at MFC and another yerar like he gave this year and McLean could have easily been looking at an appearance at Casey. Now that would be sad.
  2. What garbage. You talk of fair compensation then with a preparedness to let players go disgruntled to the PSD and the Club get nothing. You really dont have a clue what's going on. Misplaced arrogance overtaken by vaulting ignorance. Its great you had Thompson's number on your guernsey. Most likely sewn on the front of it.
  3. Lame effort even for you Freak especially given your 1440 posts of woeful stupidity. Keep the hilarity rolling big hitter! EDIT: I suspect that someone has edited rpfc's post and spliced it in with mine. Credit where credit is due. And his comments are spot on I think some of you toddlers underestimate the value of a leader on the training track. It's where Riewoldt gets his motor. And its his motor that makes him elite. Miller has his limitations, but he has got to where he is because of dedication off the field, if Watts needs any inspiration in this area - Miller can give it. Fence sitting? I know one poster who is constantly falling off the fence into the neighbours yard...
  4. Oh dear. Suggest the poster just smiles and moves away cautiously from Freak.
  5. Yes. It did get about 32 pages at the front of the rag when the news broke including personal advice from Big Brother evictees on what Carey should do next. Good grief. I cant believe that 500k Victorians shut their minds down to read it. Or some cases broaden their minds.
  6. Nah you would trade him for fools gold like Newton and think it was a massive coup.
  7. It really advertises how little you really know about the facts surrounding each of the trades. Just more of what we have come to expect Freak. Are they the same blinkers that you had on in describing Newton as having no flaws? And McLean wont knock Murphy out of the Carlton midfield at all. They will play completely different roles. The chances are that pick 11 will turn out to be a good pick. History has nothing to do with it. Or are you one of those peanuts that thinks because a number comes up one week in Lotto that its unlikely to come again the next week
  8. Craig Cameron resigned his post at MFC. Its too early to start toasting the recruiting team we have now but I hope you are right. For the record the list we are building now will include many of Cameron's selections up to 2007. Grimes,Frawley, Martin, Garland are all from Cameron's era. Laud BP when justified but credit where credit is due.
  9. Ah the Hun, the non thinking man's paper. Their journos are primed to feed the masses with copy that would often make Today Tonight blush!
  10. Thank you Really?? I had not caught up on that one. I have been in China and when Guru Bob says that when Collingwood lose in the finals, 1.5 billion Chinese could not give a toss, the Guru was right!!!! When I heard about the 60th brithday celebrations in Tianannemen (spelling?) Square I thought Geelong are older than that and Ryrie St would have been more appropriate.
  11. I have been overseas for two weeks but that's golden. Well done H and rpfc. I am happy with the decision. Could be good for both clubs and the player. Pick 11 is good value for a player who I reckon at best has treaded water over the past 3 years even allowing for injuries. With the influx of new talent and the pressure to take a pay cut, I think McLean saw the writing on the wall. I am excited by the opportunity to have 4 picks in the top 18!
  12. If Watts has done a full pre season and is not injured then I would be asking why he is not playing at least the majority of matches next year. Dont tell me Newton hits a purple patch and keeps Watts at Casey while No29 heads the Coleman medal race.
  13. I would agree. He has had a great opportunity with the passing of the old guard. He just has not taken it and I doubt he will.
  14. Is there a reason why with picks 1 and 2 this year we look like chasing midfielders? Hmmmm. Any chance we have ordinary midfielder stocks?
  15. This should equally apply to why newton was resigned. The lack of forward options is indeed an influence as to why he was resigned. If we had Buddy and Roughie you would not have bothered. We dont. We didn't at the time. And I am not sure we have turned around things in the forward line. Its not quick. Its been 2years in the making and it may take a further 2 to 3 to do so. FWIW, I am no Newton fan and I dont agree why he was resigned. I do understand why the Club would have kept its options open at a time when our forwards options were so barren. Its was not a great decision but its for a fringe player who would not be paid much. Its small beer in the scheme of things
  16. Once he is selected then his position in the draft is irrelevant. When he was resigned who were our other options up forward? If he does not fire within 12 months we choof him.
  17. I think Miller is gone. However in Club that has been bereft of leaders and players whose work rate is exceptional at training and game time, Miller has been a shining light. There is much value younger players could glean off Miller. However, I dont think he is good enough to hold his spot on the list. Its just not enough to have the leadership and work ethic if you are just not able to sustain your place in the team. As someone else if Watts can follow in those leadership and work rate attributes then it bodes MFC well in the future. I am sure Newton will judge his career as more successful than Millers on account of his MOTY. I wouldn't.
  18. I dont think you can draw much from those Coaches reports as everyone in a wooden spoon side got a good wrap. Too much sugar and treacle for the masses.
  19. Mooney must be definitely like Newton then...no doubt about it. I thought the same about Simon Godfrey and many others who have pulled on a MFC jumper too.
  20. I dont think Richmonds list is as bad as people think. They have to get rid of a number of older and NQR players and that process will be finished by next year but they have reasonable core of players to deal with. Despite their rotten culture, they still have a huge suporter base. Despite some insipid performances on the east coast in recent years, a terrible club song they do have a big supporter base, highly profitable and have two definite stars in Pavlich and Sandilands. They have an excellent squad of young players lead by Palmer and Hill that they can build on. I think there coach is an issue. Port Adelaide are real concerns for me. Unprofitable in a two horse town. A coach who is passed his use by date. Player cliques. Many of their core stars are ageing or over the hill. Awful culture. Watch this space in 2010. Mind you, people have short memories if they do want to stick pins in other clubs. MFC have done pretty well on and off the field in being the basket case of the AFL. We have no space for the hubris that infects clubs like Carlton.
  21. You clearly believe everything you read without suspicion. And you are clearly sure that his knee is OK to commit to his significant salary call (assuming Port baulk) in the PSD?
  22. I agree. Most of the Press blurb is fed to journos by player managers. its good copy for the papers to print a claim by person W's manager that X, Y and Z clubs are showing interest in person W. There is too little fact going around at this time of year. Forums like this perennially jump at shadows which in the light of days have little or no truth beyond the hype.
  23. Why didn't he think that when Neitz broke down in 2007 and again in 2008 and Robbo did his ankle in 2008 that "this FF spot is mine for the taking no more second fiddle"? He has had the opportunity and chances to claim it for himself. He hasn't. Jurrah on other hands has made the most of his opportunities and is where Newton supporters expected Juice to be. A player that does not get it and probably never will.
  24. Big deal. Its what they do when they are drafted. And for mine neither Bucks or Meesen have done enough. Meesen has another year.
