  1. Thanks Bingo. That sounds more realistic.
  2. Bartram is quicker with a huge tank and can run with opposition small forwards. Cheney does not have the pace. The statistics dont back Bartram as one of the worst kicks in the side. He has been alot better that this season. If Rivers and Garland are injured and Warnock is traded then Martin gets a run and we move Bruce onto the 3rd up tall forward. Cheney at 186 cm wont get a look in for those roles. If you are back up or depth then you are not vital. And Cheney is capable at VFL level but not dominant.
  3. If Hale is cheap (and he isnt) then PJ is worthless on the trade table. They have a surplus of talls and they want draft picks for developmental purposes...so they will look for the right deal. Rohan Bail in the future?? But Bartram is a keeper for the moment.
  4. I doubt it. At 186cm he listed shorter than Grimes and others. He is a tweener that is comfortable in the VFL but has neither the height nor speed for either talls or smalls in the AFL.
  5. I just dont know why you brought Lovett into the discussion at all. And I would not call StK's termination of Lovett successful at all. It ended in the hands of lawyers and was another tawdry media sideshow added to an already appalling situation. With Fevola, a woman has blabbed to the Press but not the police. Something may or may not have happened yet the Lions acted swiftly. The same cannot be applied to Lovett at all.
  6. Well put RPFC. THe only sweetener I need for MFC to trade for Alwyn Davey is the words NO WAY.
  7. I agree Tarrant is a good player but given the Clubs that are weak in defence, they would jump at the opportunity to get him. He wont be cheap and MFC have more pressing requirements in a list where we wont have too many players coming off it. MFC isnt weak in defence and if Garland has a long way to go and comes 10th in the Bluey after no pre season and missing the previous year then we have a beaut of player. And why we are talking to a player who you have once more labelled as a back up for Warnock who cant get a game..FMD. BTW, I'd take David Mundy if he was on a bargain contract.... I'd say its incurable.
  8. Warnock is currently behind Rivers, Frawley and Garland. You want to get Tarrant. Both Hawthorn and Carlton need an experienced defender now as their flag tilt is in the next 2 to 3 years. Even Essendon and Richmond cant be counted out for Tarrant. So he is unlikely to be cheap with a short contract deal or a low draft pick. We have 3 places known on our list with delists and retirements. We are likely to upgrade Jordie and Spencer. To put Tarrant on the list someone has to come off. I am not sure we are willing to dump any more than one other OOC player. It is ridiculous. I based it on your words that you would give him a 2 year contract even as a back up. And given Rivers, Garland and Frawley up back I see no sense chasing a 30 yo who will not come cheap. You didn't. Our hyperbolic friend did.
  9. You need to learn to distinguish between strategy development and execution. I dont think thats the issue at all. I dont think that marshmallow Brennan is a must keep at all costs. I am not sure there is any need to bring the Lovett case up at all. Its a completely different set of circumstances. Apparently Brown has given his public suppport to Fevola. There has been sufficient time for charges to be laid by the police on the carpark matter. All they have is one woman's testimony. And if there is no collaborating evidence then the charges will be thrown out. If it gets to Court then its her word against Fevs. However, the Lions seemed mighty willing and waiting for the opportunity to suspend Fevola.
  10. If the young players pass him (a great player) in one or two years time then how does it hinder their development??? I doubt MFC will be hot in the market for him particularly given the alleged price on his head (It seems a little high for his current contract. I could believe his manager would be pedalling the $500k+ plus to boost his commission cheques on the future contract). Indeed.
  11. Agreed. Has speed but is liable to poor decision making under pressure. No thanks.
  12. The Carlton rumour has been floating for a few weeks. If the Hawks are in the market for a defender as well then I cant see any financial sense or logic in chasing Tarrant for depth or as a back up.
  13. We have Warnock and arguably Martin. I'd save my phone money. Spot on 2 Sheds. Tarrant wont be showing him much when Garland is AFL and Tarrant is a back up with Casey. I think there are smarter and more meaningful metrics to measure our defensive structures. Any chance you might want to spend your phone and lunch money on a KPF opportunity where we actually have a need.
  14. Agree with that. It only backs my point that I dont think Jones has any pace at AFL level above the average. Cant fault Jones's application as he gives it his all.
  15. I thought Swan had Jones easily covered on every base. Swan has been very good for years and in the past 2 years has been elite. In R22, a 32 yo Harvey made Jones look pedestrian....very pedestrian, Jones will run all day but his pace is ordinary and he needs other strengths to combat that.
  16. Bradshaw only had a year to go in AFL and is neither here nor there. The betting the house on Fevola and an assortment of NQRs has been a disaster. The Board/ Footy Dept management should be held accountable. I have always wondered about Voss's judgement when one night he went drinking with Lawrence and Gehrig and kinghit a patron outside a pub and luckily escaped criminal charges.
  17. You are right. A premiership team is made up of many types. There are players who are your "stars" that are critical to your success. You build sides and plan your future on and around these players. Jones is not a star and is not a crticial keepsafe for the push to a flag. Jones' role can be filled by other players over the course of the journey to the top. BTW, I not sure there is any player that isnt doing his best for the team. If the FD find a deal for Jones elsewhere then so be it. If our talented youth develop, mature and improve the standard bar will rise and further challenge and overtake the futures of players like Jones going forward.
  18. Spot on Vossy realised that if Brisbane were to compete while BBP were still around then he would have to act decisively. Brisbane were on the skids before Voss go to them. Yep well said
  19. While we are not sure just what he has (or has not done), I think your assessment is accurate. I find it slightly ridiculous that this incident is the "get out of jail" card for Brisbane after having moved heaven and earth to get him. I think they are committed to making the most out of the contracted time with Fev as a footballer while Brown and Black is still around. If the issue is serious and he is outed or sacked for this by the Lions then their should Board members and football department people who should also be sacked for punting the house on a long shot. They should be held responsible and accountable for the outcome.
  20. Why? What does he offer that we dont already have in place?
  21. Thanks for proving my point. Hmmm. Hard one B) Last year he was being compared with Greg Williams. So he has definitely slipped. Valenti is good at VFL level. No higher.
  22. Agree. Valenti is not AFL standard. His ability is limited. I am not sure why MFC supporters want to play up the performance of a mediocre footballer. Highlights the gulf in standard between AFL and VFL. One of the last VFA greats was Billy Swan.
