  1. Could not be more wrong. ND indeed changed his game plan in late 2006 when he realised what we were doing was not going to get us the wins against stronger oppoeition as a middle rung side. We were in fact playing a "plan B style" with little preparation to do it(you dont learn a game plan in a pre season) and the wrong calibre of players to execute. Injuries and poor form only steepened the drop It was ND's last year as Coach and he took a big risk because he know if what he had been doing was not going to work. St Kilda were playing a game about where the game was going. MFC were playing like a side from a bygone era.
  2. Cute. Do you think so? Just confirmation about what we all suspected was happening. I am not sure ICC has the will or the integrity to do anything about it. The ICC is controlled (owned) by India who use Sri Lanka, Pakistan and B'desh voting blick for its purposes. I just cant see Indians seeking/wanting to delve in and change Paki cricket politics. And meanwhile 20 million Pakistanis sit around with no home, impoverished and awaiting AID..... I cant see the Pakistani Govt getting distracting over reforming a corrupt arm given the problems they have.
  3. Unless Shane Woewodin is the best candidate for the vacancy and not just a past players favour, I dont want him in an MFC coaching position as we head towards our critical window of opportunity.
  4. Big Tuna is right. I think its a pertinent point raised by pitchfork and the time frame reasonable. We have had posters talking about our window of opportunity for a flag up to 5 years out. Dew provide premiership player experience with a harden body and good skill set. Moloney is a good long kick of a football. Its just his decision making in the heat of battle does not always result in the right decision by foot.
  5. And Richardson would happily taken on a project with an effective gun to his head. Think again. A sensible approach would be to identify the best candidate and offer them a 3 year term. Mark Harvey's contract is up this year. And why he would leave a flowering list at Freo with a strong financial base beggars belief. He will resign for a further term on good bucks with Freo. Regardless, Essendon is hardly the employer of choice for aspiring coaches given they sacked the incumbent one year into a 3 year stint. They would be harly inundated with applications.
  6. Bennell played as though his season was already finished. Casey played one short with Bennell who didn't get many possessions but never looked like getting close to the ball or putting any pressure on the opposition ball carrier. Warnock will be a loss though. Was probably Casey's best.
  7. ... and weed out all those players who are happy accepting mediocrity too.
  8. *Wriggle, wriggle* Its a pity your comprehension is not very good. And you did want Carlton to smash Freemantle although you didnt barrack or support them.
  9. Its a great list they are working with. Pagan has been selling real estate for the past two years. I am surprised they have not got K Sheedy on the list.
  10. They are...?? On Fox last week, Gerard Healy said that of the 7 players "rested", 4 to 5 were definite non starters with various niggles. They rested the other younger 2 to 3 players. Freo were already decimated with injuries before the selection. Its ludicrous to drop admission prices. If a side is injury depleted then we should deplete the home side's gate take. Good thinking The AFL does not control betting and there is no reason to suspend betting. As for punters, I am not sure why they should be protected. If they punt before a side is selected with rumours of a few out. It is there risk. If they do so after the side is selected more fool them. The side selection was done completely within the rules and timeframes, punters have nought to complain about. FWIW, suspension of betting on football would be a better outcome. I trust you enjoyed supporting the Blues.
  11. 16 pages of Collingwood. Ugh I would want that time in my life back
  12. Freo have copped an unfair bagging for some time now on this site for the recruitment and list which I cant believe. They have cut alot of the old wood and drafted judiciously indeed. Where are all the critics who slagged Freo for taking Hill at pick 3 a couple of years ago ahead of Rich? And Morabito in a few years could be anything. Could be brilliant but with the odd clanger thrown in.
  13. As another poster said: "Its that time of year again" Great point. He kicked 5 the previous week. Good move give them a depth player plus an effective third round draft pick for a player who was almost AA. *Smacks forehead and shakes head* Its one way deal FCS.
  14. They were the only ones I can remember. I seem to recall WCE getting alot bigger over one pre season for 1992.
  15. Ananbolic Steriods in Charles case. Hawthorn and WCE suddenly became alot bigger in the chest/ body. Hmmmm Financial and personal ruin.
  16. Well done you missed the point. And I have explained why earlier. I wasn't. You have unnecessarily focussed on the nature of the offence. Agree but the media wont. Yep. Agree with that. There a number of legends of the past that do have a "past". It does not belittle the history of the game. I am not so sure the North premierships of the 90s are tainted at all.
  17. Garbage. The reference to Newton is that a station employed him when he had a known history of misdemeanours. Its backfired on them. I could not see how a station would employ Cousins with a past history of matters and a realistic risk of offending again. No one is comparing the offence. Its clear where thats at.
  18. The matter was relevant because both Newton and Cousins have been or are involved in socially unacceptable behaviours particularly by community standards. The extent of each matter is neither here nor there. Ch7 erred selecting Newton with "form". I cant see another station doing similarly with Cousins unless it is a self promoting stunt for the station.
  19. I think the decision has already been made. The only variable if Newton plays and out of no where it clicks, he kicks six etc. Not holding my breath on that one! Taking best available for your first pick should be a player that adds real talent to your list. If he is midfielder then he should be in top 10 midfield rotations. He should impact in his first couple of years. And your surplus midfielder becomes a worthy trade option (eg Prismall)
  20. Unfortunately, he has some really big challenges ahead and I agree he would be poison for any media organisation to sign up. Matthew Newton should ring bells. Cousins is now a media commodity with a use by date. He would want to get the book, the movie and world tour going quickly. The media is ruthless at discarding "old news".
  21. Leuenburger is starting to play some better football. Cost you at least a first round pick that you dont have and GC does. Given Brown is creaking and they gave Henderson away for Fev , I dont think they will give up Cornelius cheaply and he certainly wont be a bargain.
  22. Package Ashley Hansen and Quinten Lynch and you get a bigger No.
