  1. I hope Beamer heeds his own sage advice and wreaking havoc on a regular basis. I am tipping a big year for Colin just like I tipped it in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011......
  2. The issue is not about whether a player is an extrovert or introvert. Its about ensuring that the player has character and profile to get the best out of himself as footballer and as a positve contributor to a team. Talent is relative cheap but the value is have the character and personal capability to harness and use that talent positively and effectively at an AFL level.
  3. Its not up to Neeld to instil and command discipline in the individual. Its the individual himself. Fev is not the person to target! Any chance behavioural sciences provides some facts. Its not about taking a risk it finding the right player and Fev is not the answer.
  4. Can you name the MFC draft picks in the past 2 or 3 years that dont have that? If you chose to examine closely Fan's assessment of new players is spot on. While its not you there is an impression we have only recruited "lilywhites" and its so far from the truth its laughable. I want players that can make sound decisions under pressure in traffic (eg Geelong midfielders and defenders). You can skip with "white line fever" stuff. Its unnecessary.
  5. Graham Dilley dies prematurely after an illness. Deserved a longer innings A sad loss to any ever youthful bowler who was better than Dilley ever gave himself credit for. RIP and thanks for memories. http://www.theage.co...1006-1la8y.html
  6. Absolutely agree. Riewoldt is a talent but he can be damn selfish at times with his decision making and body language and does not need to be. Very happy with Chippa. At the end of his career he should be seen as a top echelon defender. If he is in the same category as Scarlett then we have a truly great player in the MFC colours. I hope so.
  7. Exactly. People are definitely confusing issues. I am glad that people like BP dont.
  8. I dont think that changes at all . Its not about getting the "nicest" personalities. What all clubs are trying to avoid or revalue in the pecking order are: 1. Serial ratbags: Fevola, Angwin - Avoid at all costs. 2. Immature players who will never have the strength of character to fully utilise the abiility - Travis Johnston, Michael Gardiner - I doubt under today's assessment they would be No 1 draft picks.
  9. I agree old Dee. And as the season wore on he got better. He played some very good games in the 2nd half of the season. He is a definite cracker and I am glad we have him.
  10. If you compare those lists over the years, the situation can and does change...quickly. Oh come now. He wouldnt do that. No way. He does not make rock solid statements so why would he need to do that? I agree. How do blokes like Ablett, Bock cope in poor sides? Oh thats right. If a player is worthy of top 50 we dont have to find excuses for them.
  11. i would agree Fan. I'd rather have Chippa than Beamer. Bock had a very good year at GC in an underwhelming side. James' brother Brent would be livid at that!!! Scott Thompson over the journey from 2005 to 2011 has been far far superior to Beamer. Thompson was a harsh loss at the time and we have never properly covered that.
  12. Nothing speculation and innuendo in the absence of fact. When Luke Ball left St Kilda his body was fit and capable for AFL. This was after a long and dehabilitating battle with OP. If you care to do the research on OP, its treatment and management is a case by case situation. And in some cases there is not full recovery in the worst cases. Its a unreasonable and baseless slur on Misson and others to draw that long bow. Ordinary effort
  13. Injury riddled and white line fever that provides plenty of MRP holidays. Great when up and firing and could be a gun player....but isn't. Caveat emptor.
  14. If Mike was to check behind the quantum of stats, you will see the Beamer racked up the bulk of those stats against GC, Adelaide, Brisbane and other weak sides. His performances required Jamar fit. A harsh term but Beamer was a flat track bully IMO who cashed in on the easy games. He went perennially missing when the pressure was on and continually got shown up when MFC came up against the stronger midfields. Can you name me a player that would not be better with more support around him? Hmmm. It such a flaccid claim to support a player. I think many of his own supporters know him better than the media experts. If he starts continually performing against top 6 sides he will get a reassessment. He is lucky appointment to the Top 50 imo.
  15. Beamer is fair but you challenge those others!! Hmmm interesting.
  16. Sheahan got sucked in by the Brownlow count by Beamer getting votes against weaker opposition. Lucky selection for mine.
  17. It doesn't at all. You dont know when to stop WYL. You just keep digging a bigger hole for yourself.Amazing.
  18. Lets be clear WYL. I have never accused you of making rock solid statements....quite the opposite. And you are right I do know best. I'll leave it you to work out whether a 31 goal loss is plateauing or a sharp descent. Classic stuff that.
  19. I would have thought his pride coupled with even the minimum level of common sense would have him not returning to MFC at any time in the future. I am not sure what his "unfinished business" is? He will never lead that group of players at MFC. And he receives pizz all credit as an assistant if he wins the flag. Its a weird point of view.
  20. Here is what you said WYL I dont have to change your wording at all. I dont know why your typing in CAPS. Does it hide your embarrassment?
  21. Only a big statement to you WYL. The episodes of Lyon and Schwab either publicly criticising or failing to support the coach are on the public record. They also sacked Bailey over the phone and did not have the good courage or grace to tell him face to face. Astonishing, regardless of how he performed. You made this statement "Bailey would return in a few years in an assistant capacity if offered....He was very careful to not burn any of his bridges in public." I dont see the relevance of your highlighted comment other than to protect a future option at MFC. A bizarre objective at best in the circumstances. Unfinished business?? Weird He might be a flawed coach but he is not stupid. Even a village idiot could work out that its well and truly over and he rightly turned his back to find better options.
  22. Exactly. This has to be a rumour there is not a chance in hell that Carlton can fit half of Goddard's salary under their cap. They would have to release one of their top six players to do it. Ouch!! He is contracted at Northern Bullants, er Carlton for 2012. God bless them for taking him.
  23. Yours a good example. I think you will find that the Jnr sacking had Schwab and Connolly's initials all over it. History will show him to be an unsuccessful coach. Lets ensure he is critiqued for what was actually his accountabilities. You have taken my comments out of context old Dee. The reference was doing the Board's duty 2008 to 2010 where he clearly tanked games, played youth to give experience.
