  1. I just dont see how making continuous anonymous slags at the club (not you) without any affirmative actions to rectify either "lets the light in" or indeed "rocks the boat". I dont see anything constructive or insightful in what is being said I have never seen a problem fixed without first identifying the issue, understanding the implications and putting forward plausible and sensible solutions to resolve. Blind bleating and whining is self serving and does not constructive address anything. While you are voice an opinion, recognise it as such and that its not fantasize thats its innnovative, revolutionary and shakes the establishment.
  2. Making persistent criticisms of the Club at every turn is "rocking the boat"??? You are kidding. Any takers for affirmative action?
  3. Yes we are doomed. You must be enjoying all this since each post is the same "We carp. We are weak" It could well be a longer term win win for both clubs. Scully could be a champion and if we use the picks well could unearth some talented players. What would you have expected from a Press conference? An attack on the AFL? Bite the hand that feeds you. Three years ago, Schwab was looking for a senior AFL post and was pressured into the MFC role. His current position at MFC is tenuous at best. He would have done himself and Club no favours to be publicly critical of the AFL at this time.
  4. That just plain rubbish JCB. We needed leadership at MFC even when Junior was at MFC. It just does not reside in one person. While a valiant player over his career, Junior's fitness and form waned during 2010. His biggest loss was his leadership impact. But we did risk not having a player whose playing performance was moderate. Junior's exit also allowed MFC to bring on younger players. GWS's selection of a 35yo who has played half a season at OlD Xavs speaks more about playing him in the Sydney league with younger players. I am not sure what was lost by Miller at MFC this year.A great bloke and strong character but he was not getting a regular at MFC during 2010 and more than likely it would have been the same in 2011. Miller is in the same basket as Dunn and Bate atm. Not good enough to be a ket forward target. We dont have a key forward yet like Riewoldt and even when he played in Jack's shadow his on field contributions were spasmodic. Cameron Bruce took a mercenary opportunity while his legs held out. In the same leadership calibre as Green. His form was middling in 2010 and was definitely not an on field leader. Clearly was not going to be Captain and once again allowed MFC to bring through Tapscott and like earlier. MFC would have preferred to keep him on a 1 year basis at a far lower rate in 2011 than in past years (overpaid in early years based on performance. If you are pining for the impact of the leadership of Bruce and Miller doesn't that tell you something about the bigger issue for some time at MFC?
  5. We really dont know how weak or strong a draft pool is for a number of years after the draft. But all indications so far are that 2010 has been a good year. It ludicrious to label a draft "weak" in advance. One football person may express an opinion and it get picked and parrotted ad nauseam on Forum sites that it gains unsubstantitated "common" acceptance as truth. FWIW, I think GCS has been a major success this year. They were roundly expected to get blown out of the water each and every week. That did not occur in a mix of performance you could expect from a young side. Their older brigade stood up well and contributed after a slow start and their clutch of top 6 young players are indeed exciting to watch. I am not sure why you are lauding Sheedy at this point. GWS's strategy is looking problematic especially for 2012. To date there biggest fish is Scully. The Scully offer is unbelievable and he needs to be twice as good as MFC hoped to pay the way. Big gamble. They have got Palmer Davis and Ward. I am trembling in fear of that lot. They have Brogan, Cornes,Power and Junior and who else they dig up for senior experience. They have not snared Kruezer, Thomas, Martin, Pendles this year. Their young list needs to be talented because they are going to be exposed worse than GCS. I have not done the sums but if they have punted on a $800k-1m a year on Scully then Pendles wont come cheap. And they will need far more than that to make an impact. Ignoring the hoopla, I am not that impressed by GWS signings and their youth needs to be very good to compensate. They are on a hard learning curve
  6. NRL is owned and run by News Corp. NRL CEO refers to passionate fans as terrorists. NRL players have profound difficulties respecting women and coping with alcohol at levels above all other football codes and the general community. Its a truly unprofessional arrangement where the stink stsrts at the top and seeps downward.
  7. Must be April 1st. Must check the calendar.
  8. I think the there were some references that were sought by the Board at a late staqe which added to the supporters and sponsors. They did seem to vacillate over the issue.
  9. Agree. In regard to position no 10, I would also throw in runners like Morton, Bennell who will be knocking on the top 10 if it clicks what is required at AFL level.
  10. They fracked around on Cousins for quite a while and looked indecisive at the end of it.
  11. If you going to take a presser statement so literally then you are responding like the profile you dont want to be treated like.
  12. I actually agree with all of that. Well done WYL. Maintain the form. Pity others dont follow your lead on this. Rant against the hand that feeds you in public on TV is so plain dumb its amazing aggrieved posters cant see through the basics. Any agitation with the AFL should be attempted behind the scenes and with proper diplomacy.
  13. The use of the Scully photo with "Order Now" was tongue in cheek. I will remember that subtlety is not your strong suit Want a banana? The prissy practive is coveting the jumper and not the player who actually wore it? And if you look at the history of the number being given out so many duds and NQRs have used it that it makes the mothballing proposal so ridiculous. No not all. I got it off the internet today. Its Jack Mueller. And if we followed your formula then his jumper and glove would be mothballed. I have a respect for the past but I dont let it unduly dominate the future. You should do likewise.
  14. Put pins in your Andrew Demetriou rag doll and think evil thoughts about him. Its about as effective as the OP's suggestions. And anyway you should be buying your MFC merchandise from the MFC shop.
  15. How about buddy you realise Tom Scully has gone, wipe the tears from your eyes and focus on the future of the football club. Mothballing a jumper which was last used by a player who played about 50 years ago and has since been used by series of duds, NQR and mediocre players reeks of an attitude that is choked by its history. You need to get that monkey off your back. Many posters whine incessantly on this site that the Club has not moved forward culturally since we last won a flag and prissy practices like this only prolong the mental block that plagues some supporters. The Club needs to be better than that even if some backward looking supporters need their security blanket.
  16. Arent you able to google it yourself to find the answers? The ultimatum strategy with Scully was discussed and exposed for the stupidity it was. Hindsight does not make it any smarter. See if you can google "Purposes of an EGM" and then work out what you want to achieve by it. Its on a par with the Scully ultimatum.
  17. Lyon's response shows far more sense than the thoughtless torch bearing "make a stand" rabble. I am no doubt MFC are seething at the outcome but have diplomatically played a sensible hand. Having a potshot on public TV at the AFL is the perfect way to absolutely bury yourself when it comes to future negotiations on matters.
  18. Only after we give Simon Godfrey another run. Valenti is a good VFL player...period. I am not surprised Matthew Bate was up there. He has also proven to be a good VFL player as well.
  19. I could put a case up as fluffy as the 31 jumper to retire every number. A touch of reality for some posters would be good.
  20. The AFL compensation arrangements are set to a formula. Adelaide tried to challenge it with Boak and got nowhere. And Scully is worth more than Ablett on the trade table? You are kidding. One is a proven star. One is just paid alot of money now and has a question over his knee. "A strong club should at least pretend to demand it." - A strong club does not have to rely on pretence. The AFL has already dealt with the Judd-Visy situation some months ago. It should never have happened. How do you know what discussions the Club has had with the AFL over this. If the fans oughta know then the fans should demand the reasons from the AFL. I am not surprised you dont see any of this. Neither points are referable to a strong club. Collingwood could still lose players next year to GWS.
  21. How were we violated with Judd?? He was never coming to MEL. He struck a deal with Carlton well before he came onto the market. Four years ago we could not match Carlton on any financial or non financial basis.
  22. Even Nostradamus will blush at that claim.
  23. What do you honestly expect at a press conference? Shaking of fists? Wringing of hands? Going red in the face? Or all of the above? I could not give a flying one about the MFC press conference. I will be monitoring what MFC does in the days subsequent to this. This Scully decision wont come as a surprise to MFC. It was outcome that should have expected and dreaded for 12 months. They should have prepared and be ready with a sensible response. Be smart and balanced at the press conference. Be smarter and more strategic away from it.
  24. Proves nothing. Retiring the jumper is just plain dumb. Have a look at the history of it since RDB. The guys gone FFS. Move on and spare the pretence.
