  1. It isnt. Its more an issue of other clubs and their supporters. If we are "hated" because we are successful then that's fine. But I think respect from the broader football community rather than opposition ferals is a greater accolade.
  2. I have not dismissed anything at all. I have tried to engage how you will measurement of perception will occur which we both agree is based on opinion. FWIW, Freo has large attendances in the West and large membership base with a full suite of sponsors but is deemed an chronic underachiever that is soft. Spin, the media and the net will get you so far but if you are not winning games then you wont be classed as a top performer. And selling jumpers (?) is no measure of any form of perception. I am not sure what straw poll conclusion you can draw from that. And as we have seen with politicans media polls, the general public is a fickle beast that can turn quickly in a short space of time. That's why perception is nebulous, difficult to measure and impossible to maintain if you are not successful on the field. And I used Russell and Denham as examples not as bellwether
  3. All payments are through the salary cap and we always paid to the top of the salary cap when we were in debt. Where the debt bites is in the funding of facilities and coaching and other non salary cap areas. Its clear the money we did not commit to Scully some of it went to Clark. Awfully good spin and chest beating comments by Schwab. *Cough*...A tall accusation from someone of your stature. I not surprised you would slurp up the first bit of spin without much thought. But there are "no excuses" this year.... It will be fascinating to watch
  4. I dont think the Clark signing had anything to do with being debt free. When we did have debt we still at or close the Salary cap. If I had the time I would search for your similar " no excuses" post from 12 months.
  5. Unless you buy off a few journalists or we start winning games then this topic becomes nebulous. The business world is a subset of the general public normally with tighter financial parameters around their interests. Your belief is that the perception is going to change. Fine. I dont believe you can provide a sound measurement of that at one point in time. Its only your opinion. Its then easy to change perceptions....you just change your opinions. P.S I leave the cosmetics industry to your good self
  6. Should we check with Paul Johnson to see if its OK? Only kidding. Indeed. Paul Wheatley was blood sucking money grabber.
  7. .....And its clear each of those perceptions different. How would you know what the public in general actuall think or how the "business world"? By slagging articles in the Murdoch press? Its great fluffy topic that is abstract enough to gets some supporters in a tizz when Dwaynee Russell has a verbal jab at MFC or Denham presents as a "Demon hater".
  8. Fair comment. If we going to be critical of the class of 2004 and Newton was pick 46, I am more disappointed with Bate and Dunn who we blew first round draft picks on. Hopefully Neeld can turn around at least one of them. I am not sure if there was issue with Newton's seven years. His resignings at the time were reasonable given the state of our list. And the last 3 years he was on minimum wages/rookie payments.
  9. Good idea. Let him play selfishly and let others make up for it. WYL knows better Rude Boy.....
  10. But it does not mean the Club has or needs to lie. Why would MFC be playing poker over an unloved train wreck in Fevola? If it wanted to, MFC has been in the box seat to get Fev. Its had all this year. It has not done so. In fact its made a number of statements to suggest its been against Fevola all along at Casey. While you may be skeptical about comments made in the public arena you dont need to cut your nose off.... BTW, Fevola is 191cm tall...not necessarily a tall forward. JCB will still be pushing for Fev next year
  11. I thought the same thing. Frankly I could not give a stuff what people think. This sort of topic is an ideal barrow for those to air their negative perceptions of the Club.
  12. How do you distinguish between business and football people why are football people any more trustworthy? As we have got Clark sown up the remote prospect of Fevola is now on odds with people on Mars. But dont tell JCB. For the record, I would have thought Harrington, Mahoney and Connolly would be football people. Didak and Shaw are football people and not business types. Do you trust them?? And if they were seeing the smallest advantage over integrity then they would take Fevola... Hmmm. MFC have shown no interest and have stated so.Sometimes you read between the lines and....
  13. Because he didnt make a stupid decision in regard Fevola. I think he wont even shrug at the all on the alleged. Did you read much into what Sheedy did in the past? I would have thought healthy skepticism in regard Sheedy was always the best approach.
  14. I have no doubt Black will be affored the highest accolades for his career and rightly so. He has been a champion. At 33 with a creaking body, I would have thought you would reward essentially what he is expected to provide going forward not what he has achieved in the past.If he was 30 then yes lets talk. And its not the aged individuals themselves but how the whole process is perceived by the other players as well. Its semantics really. I think he wiill be 300 game player at the Lions and finish a fabulous career with them.
  15. Agree. Honest but borderline. Warming a spot for others. If we need to clear space on the list beeing OOC and fringe is not a good combo.
  16. I think Black has a wonderful record and has been a great player. But his body is shot. I cant see how we can gift a 2 yr contract to a 30+yo player after we have put the 1 year blowtorch to so many MFC player 10+ years players. Farren Ray......You're kidding
  17. Given we now have Jamar, Martin, Clark, Gawn and Spencer....Campbell will be lucky to get a rookie contract
  18. Fevola is about a seventh chance hero Jack. Its says something about Fev if even Sheedy is steering clear.
  19. Krakouer erred in his ways and redeemed himself in WA. He was young enough and talented enough to have another crack. Lovett and Fevola have had umpteen chances and have yet to convince that anything has changed. Lovett's innocent verdict does little to eradicate a train wreck of social problems that are radioactive. Both are serial culture cancers. Clubs are smart enough to see that if player quacks like a duck......
  20. You could pair him with Fevola and you could have a winning combination. Clubs could not go past that...could they?
  21. 20/20 or 50/50 - Psst it played on the same day on the same wicket. So the reason to bat or bowl in short forms of the game are not dictated by the state of the wicket as in the longer forms of the games. Check that the captains you have observed follow that basis without you falling off the edge. If you actually do the research JJC you might find they dont always adhere to your square earth policy and the result of the game was not dependent on which the toss of the coin. Most times in longer forms of the games you bat first..... but wait for it.... not always. Shock heresy i know but there you have it.
  22. I could not help JCB. This is the part I agree with. Good work but the rest of it is a contradiction.
  23. Nearly everyone Robbie F?? Really?? Not like you to make things up. I dont think I have read that any one here has said he would drop away. I am sure if you started a thread I believe that most would be predicting a strong future for a player who has been impressive in his first year. Its stands to reason even if it clashes with your well researched straw poll.
