My concern is the club's ability to attract blue chip mids. We are going to have to tell a good story, a promising future in a relatively short term. At least finals appearances in the next two years. So I think we need to develop our own players. I would be giving blocks of 4 or 5 games to our mids to learn from the teams they are playing. Let them make mistakes but make sure they learn the lessons. I am sure that is what Roos is trying to do. Whilst I did not like what he said about the failure to man up Oxley (where was the runner) I think he was also telling them that they have to think for themselves. It was an object lesson and I would expect to see the leaders and senior players doing more on field directing in the week to come. Its the way to get them to use their own initiative. Could just be dreaming but I expect to see better on field leadership this week.

We should be looking at Essendon. Their players are pretty [censored] off annoyed with some said to be looking to jump ship. Don't know much about their roster but one for certain is Carlisle according to SEN today. I think wee will struggle to attract the top echelon.

And the Bacon Rolls are the best in Victoria. Coffee is garbage though.

Think I would give Gawn a pat on the back as well. Offered a lot from the ruck and contributed to the better performance of our mids. Oxley free ranging, red time fades and stupid brain farts cost us. Did not think we got it from the umps. Can think of two goals we got from dodgy decisions. Overall thought for 3 quarters we were good, they jumped us but we came back each time. Last quarter was not so good. Given last years 3 goal effort this years 13 goals shows definite improvement. Collingwood are not much better than us and will not win any of the next 4 games except the bye. Don't rate them at all.

I am conducting a little experiment today. I delayed watching the game on the box because the good lady was delayed getting home. We are about 1 quarter behind but I am reading the posts on here. I thought after post 247 we were about 60 points down judging by the comments. At the 14 minute mark of the game we are 1 point down in the 2nd quarter. Great work. Games played would be helpful as some on these lists have not played 20 games at AFL level yet. Writing anybody off before they get to 20 games is gutsy.

Talking to a few at Casey yesterday and this was the sentiment expressed time and again. He is just not flashy but gets the job done. Most could not work out why he gets the flick first after being assigned the better players when he is in the team. If they pick him to take Fyfe one week then drop him the next only to bring him back in to take Mitchell what is their thinking. Does not make a lot of sense, either he is good enough to take these great players and reduce their influence or he is not. They are certainly trying to build him into a tagger. Completely shut down Dwyer yesterday after he got away to a great start (2 goals in the 1st Qtr but not a touch in the second). Had no impact after the first qtr. Viv kicked a great goal and had a hand in a couple more.

Training tomorrow for AFL. Should be apparent by then

We are fans on the outside looking in so get frustrated when yoyu have the coach saying "we have improved" yet none of us with hand on heart can really say we can see it. Side issue Just watching 360 on Fox and Fyffe is playing his 100th this week. FMD Watts just played his.
