  1. Short memory. They pumped us in round 22. And unless you've been living under a rock, GWS are flag favourites and Carlton are the lowly club. Carlton have been into Marchbank for some time, so it's no surprise. The day we become a destination club, nobody here will be complaining when good players nominate us. Until that day arrives, suck it up, because the trading landscape has changed.
  2. Laverde has re-signed with Bombers for 2 years, so his supposed self-confidence will not be an issue for some people on here.
  3. Great player, but he was sacked as an assistant at a poorly performing club. Egan would seem to be a good fit.
  4. Thanks Flamingdees. Barlow - He's out of contract, and I'm surprised his name isn't mentioned as a trade target by any club. Hogan - Your source's assessment of the Hogan situation is the most credible I've read on here.
  5. Have Freo started their preseason already?

    Nathan Vardy

Spencer has played 36 in 9 seasons and kicked 6 goals. Vardy is averaging a goal a game. Exactly the type we need and won't cost anything other than a spot on our list.
  7. I'd feel more confident if the highlighted line wasn't included. If it's a foregone conclusion that he'll re-sign, the club wouldn't have to work really hard to retain him.
  8. Dangerfield was never interested in any other club than Geelong. We may have asked questions of his availability, but so would have 8 other clubs. As for Prestia, GNF was definitive that it was GC or Melbourne. I've said it before. GNF's source is clearly a MFC fanboy.
  9. I'm not disputing GNF's statement about Hogans Snr's health, but his assertion that Fyfe comes into play is ludicrous. One minute he is saying that Hogan wants to put negotiations on hold, which is fine. But does anyone seriously think that Fyfe is happy to make a decision on his future based on a contingency plan of another player? Fyfe becomes a FA next year and can walk to wherever he likes.
  10. So you've gone from "UNLESS IT IS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED, NO PLAYER OR OFFICIAL WILL DIVULGE CORRECT INFORMATION ON EITHER INJURY OR CONTRACT" to "what I have written above is more the norm". There are so many parties involved, and each of these parties have friends, relatives and work associates. It's not hard for stories to be leaked. BTW, the info I was given wasn't a guess.
  11. Wrong. A couple of years ago, I was given info by a close relative of a senior club official about the likely destination of a player on the move. The media were reporting another club as being the destination, and my source was proven correct. As Members Wing said, you are naive to think that information of this nature doesn't leak out.
  12. That's totally different to GNF's statement that Hogan had committed to the club.
  13. Spencer for Zac Dawson?
  14. Ok, but I never understood the rationale behind GNF's 6 month timeframe. As CIP has stated, only Hogan's signature before tradeweek is a desirable outcome for the club.
  15. GNF stated that he's committed, and would re-sign in 5 months from now. That's not October on my calendar.
  16. We could justify that comment in relation to Dawes, but when he did play, Wells' output was at a high level. It really was a stupid comment by an outgoing president of a club that is on the nose.
  17. Try telling that to GNF.
  18. You do realise that Gawn, Jetta and T.Mac were all recruited under the previous regime? And are you expecting us to pick up a Dangerfield type with a late pick?
  19. So Hawthorn are unprofessional because it's been "leaked" that they are interested in O'Meara, Mitchell and Vickery, and are likely to get all 3? People on here are out of touch with the modern AFL landscape. Most player movements are known before trade week, so to think that club have some ace up their sleeve is folly, and contrary to what GNF would have us believe. The reality is that Hibberd is our only likely recruit of note this trade period.
  20. You could say the same thing about retaining M.Jones. At least Dal Santo still has an impact at AFL level. And if all our kids can perform consistently at AFL level to overtake Dal Santo, we'll be pushing for a top 4 spot. We should be past the stage of gifting kids games if they don't perform week in week out.
  21. It's the easiest job in the world to convince a state league ruckman to sign with an AFL club. They'd jump at the chance knowing that injuries are a part of football, and they may get their chance at the big time. As for a ruckman currently on an AFL list, if they have a better skillset than Spencer, they would be competing for the position if Gawn goes down.
  22. The impression that I get is that his source is a coterie member who is a fanboy. Coterie members are usually fed snippets from board member friends, and in turn they like to embellish the story, because they see themselves as being privy to confidential info. This is how I see it: - Member of football dept tells board member that we have made enquiries to Fyfe's management. Leaves out that 10 other clubs are also talking to Fyfe's management. - Board member tells coterie member a glorified version that we are right into Fyfe. - Coterie member tells GNF a glorified version that Fyfe is the likely trade if Hogan wants to go home.
  23. High B & F finishes in a poorly performed side is not a great guide. Do the names Matt Jones and Terlich ring a bell?
  24. Neither team has that sense of invincibility. The bottom 6 on both sides wouldn't greatly improve our team, if at all. Looking forward to seeing the Dogs take on the Hawks. I reckon they'll give them a run for their money.
  25. I'm barracking for the Cats, but that was as obvious a deliberate as you'll see. Poor play by Lonergan.
