Good effort Dees. Umpiring woeful as usual. The question mark over a Watts has just got bigger.

No pressure!

I hate to see any young player with the weight of the world on their shoulders. Let them enjoy the experience first before burdening them with too much responsibility. Watts is always mentioned in these conversations but I actually think the Toump has had a rougher deal

Casey Scorpions v Frankston - Round 1, 2015

interesting Bail doesn't make it into the main side. Will be surprised if we see him again. -
he's a sook - should run it off.

Still think we need a few more rounds before judgements can be made. Of course, depressingly, you could be right. I prefer to hang on to a glimmer of hope - I guess I believe all the right structures are in place and eventually they will bear fruit. Mind you it may be my medication talking.
-
I never said he should be dropped - I said he needs support. I still maintain Jamar contributed significantly to our win against the Suns. Likewise his dismantling by Mumford in the second half against GWS was important in our capitulation. Frost is not the answer as a support ruckman. We have ruck issues and those we have can't go solo. I agree Spencer is needed.

I would like to know the basis for the statement we have a group of dumb footballers. Most are young and need to develop good habits and an understanding of the game. Our development program with Macca, Goodwin and Plapp hasn't really got off the ground yet. As much as we hate it we are some time away from being competitive. There is a lot of teeth gnashing for a horrible second half last week. I think that shows our older players are not good enough leaders and that will be addressed at some point.
-
Good reason why I'm not a selector but thought he has been in our bottom 3 players the last 2 weeks . I agree the Betts match up is problematic however I think Garland has taken him in the past.

More bad luck for (former demon) Ricky Petterd

Had a soft spot for Ricky. Was sad to see him go and wish him the best for the rest of his career. -
Newton kicks goals - 2 per game is good for a mid, something we desperately need. The ruck is a major issue with Mumford wearing Jamar down and giving their midfield free reign. in: JKH and Spencer out: Frost and Jetta with Lamumba going down back.

Fair chance that money's gone up in smoke!

There is an opinion that McCartney had a lot to do with the rapid development of Bontempelli. macca has only been at our club since February- I think he will do very nicely with our group of young mids given a bit more time. I am rapt with the progress of Viney and Salem this year. Hopefully he will get into the ear of Toump and get him going as well.
-
I agree it's the older players that are the problem and the leadership is still poor. Viney and Salem have gone up a level. Brayshaw and Hogan are the real deal. Tom McD is heading for the elite category. Jamar and Cross are on their last legs and will be phased out. I think Garland may soon make way for Frost - I was a fan but am having doubts. I think the plusses outweigh the negatives.
-
Don't believe that for a minute. The on-field rallying when someone gets a goal or is the victim of an unfair bump is the best it's been for years. There is no reason not to feel the club isn't on the right track.
-
The backline is not the problem - they restricted GWS to 2 goals in the first half despite more entries into the forward 50. Our problem started wen Jamar got torn apart by Mumford and fed their star studded midfield. Frost is not a second ruckman or a forward - he belongs in the backline. We still rely on Jones too much in the midfield and if he has a stinker we're gone. Garletts and Kents inability to convert set shots is also a concern. Not sure what Dawes brings to the table. He can't mark, can't ruck and doesn't kick many goals. Can't believe what he gets paid for the little he contributes. Another long season ahead I fear.

Garlett and Kent are no good at the set shot - they have missed too many easy goals the last 2 weeks.
