  1. Arguably our best ball user and decision maker... His competitiveness wasn’t bad pre injury. We aren’t going to get remotely close to a similar player for the draft pick we will receive for him. Think Melbourne would be mad to let him go.
  2. I like weids but what if we offered him up for trade with saints for paddy.. maybe throw in a kent, stretch, frost to package it up..
  3. Is it remotely possible that because trenners has missed so much football that they are just playing him in the twos to get some continuity and consistency into his game. Then delist him and re-draft him as a rookie and have the mindset that his is now a mature age recruit of known quanitity and quality with little to no expectation on him? I know this sounds like fairytale stuff but we know that he was a very good talent. Surely he'll take his opportunity when it comes if it does.
  4. Great comparisons to Neita.. It's pretty obvious we have a really good footballer in TMac... if he can give us just a fraction of the 300+ games 600+ goals we will all be ecstatic.. Having a player of his ability able to switch back or forward whenever the game needs it is invaluable. I would be wondering if they will give Weids a run down back in the twos just to add another string to his bow... would be obviously very good to have multiple tall players who can play both ends effectively.
  5. Just got delisted from Swans. 195cm defender/forward. Wants to move to Melbourne - only 23 years old. Could be that defender we are looking for?
  6. From all accounts he's an 'elite' kick and his marking skills are also close to that category. You sound like a Jarrod Rivers type is bad?? Nearly 200 games. Some expectations on high draft picks is crazy. Just because he is a defender doesn't mean he can't go forward or into the mid ... For memory David Neitz was a chb when he came to Melbourne then transformed into our greatest goal kicker ever. Best talent regardless of position is what we need. I remember people also knocking Fyfe. All draftees are going to have knocks it's about developing them as players.
  7. Sometimes a known quantity is better than 'potential' in saying that 100% trust the development and recruiting team we have now
  8. Can see you point and agree - he just looks good to go compared to parish weid cc we need players who can come in and have an impact
  9. Probably cop flak for throwing this up - but Francis at 3 wouldn't be all that stupid. Natural footballer - big body - competitor - versatile. Seems good to go with elite skills. Could be awesome with Tracca one rotating foward while other is in midfield to help out hulk. Especially with the new interchange cap.
  10. Exactly, don't care if someone is rated 25th and we take them 3rd. Just hope they get it right, let's get the best we think regardless not fall for what pick someone should or shouldn't be. It's insane the amount of people who say oh so and so isn't worth pick 3 but would take at 6, 7, 8 etc it's only a number which is irrelevant come day 1 of pre season. Let's just get it right not take people based on their perceived worth and hype. For all I care we could take Collins, Rioli or whoever at 3 (For the record I hope we take curnow). Let's just back the current FD in selecting the right guy and our development team will bring the best out in each recruit.
  11. Could be a Sam Mitchell type in Parish. Looks decent on both sides, handballs frequently. Not quick but touted as a 'footballer'. Knocks on Mitchell is that he is slow - been pretty prolific in recent years.
  12. Curnow looks like a fyfe/stringer type.. Could get that big body player Roos likes
  13. After watching the highlights of Kennedy on MFC website he looks more competitive and harder then what we've seen out of the toump. Excited to see what he brings next season!
  14. Would a Bastinac for Howe maybe be worth it? If he wanted to go to North... - Bastinac is 24, played 121 odd games 66 goals.
  15. That's all good and well in theory if Geelong can't satisfy crows needs he can stay in Adelaide or try his luck in the draft. He wouldn't drift to Geelong. Cats want Henderson Selwood and danger, can't see them getting all three now having to deal with crows. Could be a good time to pick the eyes out If the cats young guns and see if we can snag one or two of them.
  16. What if we put together a more attractive offer to crows then cats can, 1st draft pick this year, 1st or 2nd t next year and a SA boy in Jimmy Toump?
  17. Still speechless. Rest Easy Phil - Forever in our hearts.
  18. Salem was a first year player give him another pre season learning the defensive side of the game and he'll be ready to play two way footy. . He appears to be a natural footballer. Dont forget we added Mitchie and Riley last year as well - both of whom need another pre season under their belts coming off of pretty low bases due to injuries. All of those three are great sizes for the mid (183-185cm 80-85kgs) lets see them develop. JKH looks like a great little live-wire and with a bit of luck Jeff Garlett can show him the ropes and help fast track his development. We might just have an Eddie Betts type on our hands? Lets see the boys develop over the next few seasons before judging if we wasted opportunites at the draft table or not.
  19. Great pickup for the dees - will complement toumpy/watts well i would have thought. Win the ball on the inside flick it to toumpy/watts cruising off the half back flank. We will see with the pick up of AB, CP, AN-B with the addition of JG, HL, and the Hulk really release players that have been lost for position or played out of position on a needs basis. Would love to see Watts settle in play that QB roll like a Birchall.
