GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
And Derwit has just explained why the sling tackle has become so 'standard'. The umpires paying ridiculous holding the ball frees has meant the ball carrier is desperate to get boot to ball when their arm is held, they lose control of their body. The tackler is desperate to prevent them from disposing of the ball and that is the best way to do it. Gil, you have [censored] this sport and put players lives at risk. I hope you get your ars sued to kingdom come.

I think I've worked it out...?
This is how most coaches fail. They come up with a gameplan and then try to fit their players into roles. A successful coach will identify the perfect role for each player to utilise their skills/strengths, while working on their deficiencies. In the latter stages of a players career they will have gained enough ability and preparedness to play different roles. Fritsch backline, Brayshaw wing, Harmes backline. These are all examples of trying to push a player into an unsuitable role. Sure there may have been reasons for doing it, but it's not the way a successful coach goes about it. For mine you could even add Salem as a defender to this. He was an out and out mid, moved to the backline and is now stagnating. He could've been our perfect outside mid, but I doubt he'll ever get serious game time in that role.

Heroes wear helmets!!! Harmes needs to be played back into form and stay there. He's the best tagger in the comp. Half back, no. Wing, no. HFF, no. Take the number 1 mid every week and let's see what happens. Hell, might even win a clearance.

Umpiring
You're not reading it wrong DG. It's being adjudicated wrongly. It has been for years. Clever coaches from the Clarkson stable have exploited the poor adjudication for a decade, and only now, when Clarkson's side are poor, he's called it out. He wanted the loophole closed, however what's happened is an exaggeration of the poor interpretations. Players need to be coached to drop the ball at the slightest contact. Far less likely to give away a free. No, it's not football, but that's how they want it played. [censored] Gil

Goodwin shows some emotion...finally
So does that mean it was a skill issue or decision making?

Two Metre Peter
Seeing the leg-ups the AFL have been giving GCS, I really see them doing everything they can to prevent that from happening. Within the rules or otherwise.

Demonland Podcast Featuring Glen Bartlett Wednesday 1/7 @ 8:30pm
If we can get rid of any AFL assistance does that make it easier to push back on the draw that we generally get? I'm talking Geelong, Essendon fixtures where we're always shafted.

Question marks on Gold Coast
And the 1 they called play on was when Hawkins had May on his wrong leg and May actually pulled up expecting it to be paid. Hawkins spun around beating him easily.
