It was fantastic.!! You know what else I loved??? I loved barracking for the Dees and cheering each and every goal. What was pleasing also was the fact that apart from the first part of the first quarter, they had a four quarter performance and I cant remember the last time they really did that... good foundations for next year and to think that was a real makeshift team with so many injuries so we can rightly be optimistic. Sure, on form and current injuries etc we wont win the last two and we will grab those prized picks but Carlton will need to be on their game next week or they could well ruin our chances yet again with a poorly timed loss. I dont think so, they are aiming for top 4 even if they say they are not looking at that specifically. Saints will want to finish the h/a on a winning note to take into the finals and I cant see us beating them.. next week is going to be a little tense till we see whos on and who's not... I am very proud of the boys and although the opposition was mediocre to say the least, we didnt let up when we got a good lead - I am happy we won..makes the loss v Tigers well worth it.

Me either!! Sure Judd is a champ but he is going to be well past his prime when we will be up challenging for the flag. Trengove and Scully will be running rampant by then and we will be enjoying the fruits of a rather ordinary 3 years and have no qualms about the losses we had to have. I dont believe there is anyone I would want to trade for the#2 pick that we would REALISTICALLY be offered. Sure, we could hypothetically say Geelong will offer us Selwood or Ablett for pick 2 but we know we would have better chances of winning Lotto by ourselves individually. It wont happen. I admit I havent really seen anything of Dangerfield and he may well be a gun and perhaps it might be a line ball decision but I stand by the keeping the two picks. It wont happen again - the PP like this. We are the last team to be able to take advantage ( hopefully) and its too golden an opportunity for my liking.

Carlton. i have family that follow the Blues so would be sweet to give it to them at last. If it stuffs up their finals campaign a bit well all the better!

I agree with all the sentiments and comments made that this is truly a great post. It is nice to see positive thinking and I agree with all that was said. I have followed the Dees for many years now and had started to worry I would never see a flag with the way things were going. I now know that most likely I will and that will be due to the hard decisions and work the current admin and coaches are doing - including our list management and experimentation on game day. These things are things that I couldnt see being done in the past but are necessary due to the upcoming arrival of GC and WS and the compromised drafts for the next few years. If you were going to bottom out and rebuild this was the last year you could afford to do that for some time. We have sucked up the pain pretty well as we can see a glorious light coming through our "tunnel" and I cant wait to walk towards that light!!! In fact I wish I could run but there are 3 weeks left and one win out of those 3 weeks will see the light starting to come out this end of that tunnel. I LOVE THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had Lyon started coaching us say, when ND went, so basically instead of DB, he would have the exact same problems DB has had and would be in the same position probably now. So, then would you be calling for his head if results didnt come next year??? I am fully behind the club and DB and think he has a sound plan and is looking to the long term future of the club, not necessarily at his own future. Naturally, one would assume he would like to be part of our success but he can see where he wants the club to be in relation to the players development and I am inclined to think that he has that ahead of his own future as the coach. BTW I am not against GL coaching us but I would say it would be at least another 3 years or so anyway.

If everyone will cast their minds back, we were in front at the final siren. So, we did win but just not in the normal way winning is seen. We got our desired result but they players certainly should consider that game a win and therefore keeping the "winning culture"advocates happy. I was, admittedly happy and sad at the same time when I should have been rejoicing in a Demon win..and then the mark being paid and the goal scored and a loss.. and the same thing..happy and sad.. I hate all this barracking against the club I have loved forever but we are not cheating. We are experimenting which we have done for most of the year and last year trying to find out if we have the cattle to go all the way. We have some of them but some do need to move on and this is DB's way of finding out which way they go.. on the truck to the "knackery "or into the field for another year and to await the prize "bull/s" to join the herd at the end of the road. I will always buy a membership and fully support the club and the way they are taking care of things. Not one single club, I am pretty confident in saying, would do any different to us should they be in our position and with GC and WS coming into the draft in the upcoming years. They would all take the priority pick gleefully and brag about it and would do all in their power to get it so it's highly hypocritical of those who are bagging us out for tanking. Just hang loose...this is probably the last game we have to hold our breath and hope for a competitive loss. Another last gasp kick would be hard on the heart but would make for a game worth watching.

What channel is it on? Not sure they show it up here in sunny Qld.

Last week, against our Dees, she was atrocious and so was keen to see if it was just that I was so annoyed at the way she didnt know the players, bagged us out constantly etc that made her calling so bad. It wasn't. Her voice is the problem. She has this monotonous droning voice that just grates on you after a whle and whilst she did a better effort naming Hawks players, she does let her Geelong bias show through. She is a shocker and it's not cos she is a girl, hell that doesnt matter if she knew her stuff, and perhaps I would be no better but at least my bias is for the right team!! Get her off!!!

OOOh add me to that club!! Johnno is my all time fave. I am as true a Demon as the rest and my blood runs red and blue but for the good of our club and the long term future and premiership success, we have to suck up some losses for now. I can do it, we are used to it ( which is sad but true) afterall and it shouldnt be that hard to endure when we can see what is tantalisingly around the corner. I admire those that just want to keep winning, and I wish we could do that and still get Mr Scully, but we can't - we cant have our cake and get to eat it too so I say let WC and Freo eat cake and make themselves sick on it for all I care!! I want the cherrys (Scully/Trengove or Scully/ ? ) atop our premiership cake in say 3 years time. Noone is going to much remember a win against a falling Swans team, a lowly North, Richmond or rabble such as Freo apart from the fact that the win cost us a champion. It wont make us a better team for winning against teams that have little or no hope of finals footy and so have taken their foot off the pedal. What will make for that winning culture is some wise recruiting and good list management - the team we put in for tomorrow will do ok.. hopefully put up a good fight but just fall short. Competitive performances will gladden most Demon hearts over winning ones now. Our joy will be on November 28 when we have just selected pick 1 & 2 and sit back to make our choice in pick 18. Then all our pain of this year and last, will fade into the distance.

It was suggested to me by my good mate Tarax, and not sure if I posted this here or on Demonology but if you scrubbed the PP (after t his year of course!) and then the bottom six would fight it out for #1. The winner of the prize would be the team with the highest points/percentage at end of Rd 22 for that group. This would ensure that all teams were still trying to win right up to the end and make for better games. Highest % and Points #1 2nd High #2 etc etc What do you all think?????

It has been suggested by my good mate Tarax, that to stop the tanking argument, the first pick should go to the team with the highest percentage at the end of round 22 ( from the teams in the bottom four, six or eight). This way each team will be busting a gut to score well and win and still have a chance at #1. Fortunately for us, this will not happen this year but its not a bad idea. What do you guys think?

Am so disappointed re Butcher tho as I had the Scully/Butcher double has a given. Scully is getting me excited already.. I am not at all religious but please God keep him safe.

Ok all Here I am with the official word from the Queensland Demons. No official function - mainly due to two visits in a month and the dinner they have on tonite at Crowne Plaza. The Queensland Demons invite all to a post match drink at Emerald Lakes Golf Club. This is almost directly across Broadbeach-Nerang Road and will be open till midnight. We have spoken to the manager and we are all welcome to roll over and celebrate our game. For the record, I would like to think we can take it up to the Saints but will need 4 quarters of what we saw in the second half of last week and more. Another big one from Col would be nice and even better if he had a few mates with similar figures!! Saints have to lose one eventually and it would be great if it could be here. HOPE TO SEE U ALL SATURDAY NIGHT P S For those able to make it, training tonite (Friday) at 6 pm for approx an hour. Opportunity for kids to get pics and autographs.

If we get picks 1 & 2 and its looking a good possiblity even at this stage, I would be very upset if we traded 2. It would have to be for a real star already that would be in the right age group and would fit into our needs. Other than that at this point I want Butcher and Scully. That will set us up well for a bright future if all these new kids live up to potential which is a big if but we gotta get some good fortune somewhere, dont we???????????????????????????

Queenslanders have this annoying habit of not wanting to attend these sort of things very often. I have tried numerous times to set up days like this and get perhaps 4 or 5 if I am lucky!! Am currently working on a plan to get "game day hosts" throughout Qld. Working like this.. find a hotel that has foxtel/austar and let me know. I will put it up on the website which is about to launch in the next week and then people can contact this person. So we need volunteers willing to be at the venue most weeks if not all, and that will be willing to field calls from supporters in the area. Not sure if it will work but if any queenslanders know of a pub ( and yes the Pineapple does play games) and would like to be part of the new plan, then please PM me and we can work something out. Doesnt matter where in Qld - it just needs a "leader" and paytv as thats where we seem to be featured 95% or more of the season.

Just discovered a Hankook dealer here on the Gold Coast at Nerang. Sure probably more but never noticed it before and all of a sudden there it was staring me in the face. I wont need new tyres for some time as i have a new car but will be recommending them to family and friends.
