  1. Regardless of what was released and its validity, was something put on the screen for melbourne vs hawthorn?
  2. Thanks guys. I'll give it a crack. Was part one worth viewing?
  3. Did the footy show have a squad for Saturday's game? No-one seems to have posted it anywhere. I caught the last half hour or so and other teams' squads were presented. So ours must have been? Have I missed it here? Or has no-one posted it?
  4. I don't know why the firetruck these videos never work for me... I have a PC and a Mac. Doesn't work on either... Why? I blame it on Vlad!!!
  5. I was at Waverley back in '87. I cried all the way home and still believe we would have beaten Carlton in that Grand Final had we made it. I LOATHE HAWTHORN and will feel that way FOREVER!!!! 22 years or 122 years, there's no "too long to hold a grudge" in football. That's what great about this game.
  6. Re Chris Johnson, I saw him play for the Bullants last week against Coburg. In a Bullants side that dominated the Tigers, he was very inconspicuous on the field. I'd say his absence from Friday night's game was because he is not in line for senior selection in round 1. Can't say I feel for him at all.
  7. Thanks HG. I'm so used to just logging straight into the main discussion forum to read the latest news that I didn't even think of checking there. B)
  8. Haven't heard anything about the Scorpions game this weekend. Was anyone there? Would have thought someone would be all over it with Watts and Garland playing...
  9. The difference between your case and LJ though, is that his rehabilitation process will most likely be far more rigorous and supervised. Whereas you may have seen the physio once or twice a week at most (possibly even only once a fortnight or once a month if you weren't as serious), LJ will have people at his disposal almost every day of the week. Though I agree that 12 weeks is optimistic, a return mid-late season 14-16 weeks away is not out of the question. But considering our record of late, I daresay we ill be conservative with LJ. Also to think about is that his attitude towards his rehab will help determine when he can return. Considering the vast cultural difference of LJ's background, his lack of previous injuries and probably inexperience with interacting with the medical profession, it will be interesting to see how he approaches this challenge. He will need to have a lot of help from his team-mates and the club to get through this and back ono the field.
  10. Jurrah definitely looked like he was holding his arm, but you also do that when you dislocate a shoulder. But it did look more arm than shoulder. Bell looked like clavicle injury (collarbone), but could also still have dislocated the shoulder. Maybe he fractured the clavicle and that's why it looked like a dislocation (because it was disfigured).
  11. Unfortunately (or fortunately for those who want to save money), that's what competition has done in this new world that's emerging. Once upon a time Telstra were the big boys in town with very little competition. Pride was taken in customer service but costs were high. It's the same in the aviation industry with qantas or American Airlines (which is an absolute disaster nowadays, but used to offer top notch service in the 70's and 80's). Now that there are multiple budget alternatives, the old school companies that used to offer great service have had to cut costs to compete and maintain their share of the market. This means cutting costs on customer service.
  12. Fan, with all due respect, YM has a very long history of being a s stirrer. His post is utter garbage. Do we really need this guy here? I understand that forums are for everyone and I will not personally attack the guy as I know he probably doesn't mean half the bs he posts and just wants reactions, but fair dinkum, they just get worse and worse. YM, why can't you just post normal stuff like everyone else. Why do you have to sensationalize things? Why can't you just pose a question... "did we pick up the right player... discuss". Instead you make outlandish assertions based on little fact. Of course people will respond. The fact that Fan and other mods have to waste their time deleting or editing posts in response to a person who, whilst clearly passionate about the dees, has made it his mission in life to put a downer on other people's perspective on their beloved team is just getting stupid. I'm really getting fed up. I really have never, ever had any beef with anyone on this site and have never gotten into any heated debates. I don't want to now. I just think that this site is not for posts like YM's.
  13. Regarding the old players I mentioned, I wasn't trying to compare Neville to those past greats. That was a separate point about not writing off small, slow players just because they are small and slow. I used the greats as examples, but league history is littered with other very seviceable small, slow middle-tier players who were valued clubmen. I like to think that good footballers can still make it if they are good enough regardless of their shape and size (within reason obviously). It is getting harder these days in a world of giant athletes, but I still think it can be done. Anyway, agree with most of your post above except for not rating him as highly as Bennell at this stage. They have both delivered about the same output vs their potential thus far. I guess time will tell. Bennell has the potential to be a very explosive and exciting player which I feel may lead people to rate him higher than a no-frills, hard-at-it player like Jetta. But a footy team requires many different types of contributors and the less flashy types are no less important than the live-wires. Both boys are promising and both excite me moderately. Like you I also worry about Jetta's lack of height and pace considering he wants to be a midfielder. But he is smart, has good skills and can hold his ground. If he is good enough and applies himself, he will make it. On the other side, Bennell has a very slim body type and got pushed off the ball very easily at times last year. Yet he has pace to burn, moves gracefully and looks beautiful in space. Again, if he is a good enough footballer he will make it.
  14. Peter Bell Diesel Williams Tony Shaw Tony Liberatore Don't give up hope just yet for the short, slow midfielder. Though footy is evolving towards taller, more athletic players, there is also a trend back towards natural footballers. But specifically on Neville Jetta, not saying he will make it, just not keen on hearing him written off based on lack of pace for his size. He is not that slow, just not super-quick like a stereotypical small indigenous footballer. Don't expect him to be this stereotype. He seems to be one of a relatively rare type of indigenous footballer to make it to the top grade that makes up for what he lacks in pace with toughness and awareness whilst still maintaining some of the freakish indigenous skills. I don't know how we can conclude he doesn't have enough tricks at age 18/19 after 1 season at AFL level. I heard an interview at the end of the 2009 season during which a recruiter recounted how he saw the freakish abilities of a young Neville Jetta whilst preparing for the previous year's draft (he was not talking about the Jetta drafted this year and he also mentioned Cyril Rioli as having similar freakish footballing abilities - was not comparing their pace obviously). I actually rate him as a prospect from what I saw in the 2nd half of 2009, but for sure he has a lot of developing to do.

  16. I'm away until March 5th. If it's late Feb I won't be able to play. Disappointed, but what can you do. Will be following with interest. Of course if the game is post March 5th I'm in.
  17. 'Cribbes to Dazzle to Blessed hands to Hards/take your pick'... in forum footy parlance, that's akin to 'Cox to Ablett to Judd to Reiwoldt'. Or in future Demons terms, 'Gawn to Trengove to Scully... to Watts'. Sounds like a demolitiob job I want to be a part of. Would love to see anyone try to beat us. Must say Rollo, I'm not so keen on Demonland vs. Demonology. I have sensed the occasional bit of animosity between some members of the two sites (a minority admittedly). We are all Demons supporters and I don't see any reason to cause any stirring up of angst between the sites. I have no opinion on demonology as I have never really explored the site. One demons site is enough for me. But it's nice that we play together and I think we should keep it like that. I don't even realize who is from which site when we play together. We're all just Demons playing for the jumper. And who would get to wear the traditional jumper... would be a disappointed mob that had to wear an alternate strip.
  18. Training photos and reports in Jan are probably the next thing to look forward to - especially the pics. Then we can at least crap on a bit about body shape and development etc. In the mean time, either content yourself with what is on offer or sign up as a Melbourne Victory member and start watching the soccer.
  19. I'm in if scheduling permits. May be away from 10th of Feb for a couple of weeks though.
  20. Nope, still referring to Scully B) .
  21. If this was a collingwood website, we would all be on here marveling at this supreme athlete who is also a genius.
  22. David Zalcberg is the table-tennis player. I think 2 olympics and 2 or 3 Commonwealth games as well as 2 Maccabiah Games and I think was on the bridge that infamously collapsed there some years back. And now he's swappd over to the other Jewish profession... he's also a Doctor
  23. Haha. I joined. Someone has shortchanged him a couple of cm's though! Thought he was 208. We all know now how important 2cm's can be in footy now after some recent threads.
  24. Well if you're going to break a hand, this may just be the time to do it. The bulk of the fitness training can still be completed, therefore preventing a loss of fitness. Plus our players will be having a longer Chrissy break due to starting pre-season training earlier (I think that's the deal the made with the FD), so he won't miss as much as he would had it been sustained in the new year. The main loss will be in the weights room. A shame, but I'm looking at the positives :D .
  25. I'm generally not one to have much of an opinion on commentators. Sure they vary in style and quality, as in any area of life. Some of them could be the most brilliant caller in the world, but will still be hated by some people for a comment they made about the team they support or something they did 15 years ago as a player. And certainly different types of people will find different styles of commentary more or less appealing according to their own particular tastes. But in general, almost all of them can be listened to at the very least... Except Rex. As others have already said, he spews absolute garbage with EVERY sentence he says and I can't work out what the hell is going on when he calls the game. One criticism that no-one has really highlighted here. The bloke does not even call the football most of the time. He is too busy trying to be funny instead of focusing on the task at hand. He sounds like a person with Schizophrenia who is actively psychotic during a game and is unable to vocalize coherent thoughts because his brain is a mess (formal thought disorder). And also, I thought the mark of a good caller was to allow anyone to tune their radio dias in and easily follow the game. To understand Rex, you have to have either followed him throughout a few seasons to work out who he refers to when he's calls out some weird nickname. What in God's green earth is wrong with (in English) giving regular scores, describing where the ball is, who has it and what they do with it? FFS, simple principal in radio commentary one would think. The man is a moron. Bye bye MMM.
