I'm a bit peeved about the timing of this announcement. My viruschecker had expired since early Jan and I picked last Wednesday to purchase a new program from a rival brand. Locked myself in fr 2 years. Rotten luck, but since we have a 3 year deal, I'll still get to purchase my Kaspersky program before the end of this 3 year deal. May even be an excuse to buy a new computer earlier than planned!!!

Chris Johnson's performance so far has been pleasing. 2 kicks, one that cost Carlton a certain goal when he bombed away from 50 with 2 blues alone in the goalsquare and another kick on the full under no pressure. Visy may yet live to rue the $ they spent on that hack.

??????? Is that a joke occo? Can the expletives be edited off???? And I'm with those wondering where this came from. Haven't heard any Jones bashing in ages.

Actually, I am working in ENT at the moment. Next week I'm switching to breast surgery... let's hope I'm not called upon for expert advice on MFC injuries in that area!!! Although the way some of them played last year...

The 'ear-drum' or tympanic membrane will usually heal itself after a minor traumatic perforation. I don't see why Bartram would need to miss much footy if any at all. He may get some funny whistling sounds on the odd occasion (eg. when sneezing or nose blowing), and his hearing may be decreased in that ear. Plus a perforation predisposes to middle ear infections, especially when exposed to water. But it is more nuisance value than anything and he'll be fine. Balance is not a problem, as this is controlled by the vestibular apparatus which is much deeper behind the tympanic membrane.

Well , I did have some ideas re shades of white for shorts. I was thinking the cream, the bone, the white, the off-white, the ivory or the beige...

I'm not sure that I know how it should be handled, but all I'm saying is that the silence is making me more nervous rather than feeling reassured. All I worry about is the future existence of our club. Some people think it is assured, others (me included) are not so confident. All I am asking for is perhaps an update. It doesn't need to give away any details (indeed that could be counter-productive during negotiations). But I would at least like to know that the club is pursuing options post the Mission failure and that there is still a good chance of a deal being done. A simple email to members reassuring us that all efforts are being made and no stone is being left unturned would suffice. The alternate jumper and captaincy things don't really concern me in the scheme of things, but I am really edgy over the sponsorship issue and would love ANY correspondence at all...

45, you have just made me have a great laugh. Have you been watching '[censored] eye for the straight guy' or something ? Not calling you gay or anything (not that there's anything wrong with that), just having a laugh at the eye for detail. What shade of white do you think we should have as our away shorts to best match the red jumper? Should the socks and shoes also be colour co-ordinated? And do you think we should get all the players to have the same hair-do... Classic! (btw, not having a dig, just genuinely thought it was funny how much detail people notice... maybe that's why I don't do so well with the women...).

I talked to someone tonight who played with him last year. He said that Jurrah was an absolute freak. Of course many people have already posted this information on the forum, but prior to tonight I took it with a grain of salt. After all, all of the Aboriginal boys have freakish skills. But with the glowing terms this guy used to describe Liam, I actually have to admit I'm a bit excited. However ... It is still no certainty that he'll ever even get close to playing an AFL game. His integration into Melbourne life is of crucial importance. If this part of the massive effort required to get him up to AFL standards fails, we will never see him in the red and blue. Fingers, toes, hairs and anything else you can think of crossed!!!

Not convinced. In fact, I may not even be convinced even after a sponsor is announced. I'm getting a bit sick of being in the dark on so many topics for so long - eg's sponsor, alternate strip, jumper numbers, captaincy etc. etc.

We are already a laughing stock and we will not have one by round 1 let alone the NAB cup (no source, just gut feeling). Actually, I'm not even sure we're even courting anyone or that there is anyone to court. The club's silence on this issue is deafening. I am VERY worried.

How we were dudded by Mission Foods @ The Dogs
pringle replied to Sydney Pennski's topic in Melbourne Demons
You're right, but it really is a horrible looking logo. Though that takes nothing away from the fact that the Dogs have a sponsor and we don't. They may look terrible on the field, but at least they can be sure they will have the money to field a team over the next few years; we might be extinct. -
Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon. I think they're the only 3 Victorian teams left in the competition. At least that's what it seems like when reading the papers. In fact, over the past 2 weeks, I would not think it ludicrous if someone added up the stats and told me that 50% of all football-related articled were about Collingwood. My Age subscription is not worth the 25 bucks and the HS is probably worse from the odd days i bother to open it. I'm sick of it. Does anyone else feel the same? There's my 2cents for the day.

Hi all. Great win again by the mighty dees. I can't believe how good we actually are every time we take the field. There seems to be an over-abundance of really talented footballers who post both here and on demonology. Each game we have a few new players in the team, and they all just pick up from where the absentees left off. Some who have never been to watch these games might mistakenly believe the standard is not that great as these are only 'scratch matches'. But I can assure you that is NOT the case. In fact, I dare say our best team would give some amateur clubs in the VAFA a real contest (well, maybe D grade and below). Some brilliant passages of footy worthy of any standard of footy. I have downloaded the photos and video of the team song onto this picasa web album. If it is better for people to view them directly on this thread page, then someone with the computer smarts can paste them in. Demonland vs Talking Carlton Photos

Rollo, went to the physio today, and I'm a definite non-starter. Sorry for no reply to your last email, but I've been working just about every waking minute of the last week and a bit. I'll still be there to help out, and I can bring a camera to photograph any classic moments. My brother Dooky is doubtful. I've been bugging him, but because his better half comes back from overseas tonight or tomorrow morning, he may be tied to his bed by the old jatz crackers . And I'll also bring some medical supplies if needed.

I'm looking VERY doubtful to play. Although it was 4 weeks ago that I did the hammy, the healing process hasn't gone to plan. I may have tried to overdo the rehab. These things happen when you get a bit older I guess, although at 29 I'm hardly over the hill. Went to the physio today and going for an ultrasound tomorrow to assess the damage. Hopefully it's not worst case scenario and a few more days of rest will see me through. I'm still optimistic and hoping that, unlike '426', I don't earn the name '122'

BL 3281 is with me now and says he can't play. Appaerently his 100kg frame is just not up to it anymore. I emailed Dooky a few days ago, but he is away at the moment and hasn't returned my message. Hopefully I'll find out soon. As for myself, I'm still in, but battling against time with a hamstring injury which I sustained about 4 weeks ago. It just hasn't come good yet, but I still have 2 weeks from today, so fingers crossed. I'll be at the game regardless.

Forgive my poor grasp of modern lingo, but is that good or bad? I'm thinking good, but just seeking clarification. I'm a big fan of PJ, but as an around the ground mobile ruckman, rather than as a forward target; a role which I don't think he'll ever master.

Is that really necessary Don? If you have a real argument to contradict Joeboy, them I'm happy to listen. But this??? Yes Sylvia has frustrated many supporters since his selection at #3 in the draft, but optimism at this otherwise VERY unexciting point in the year is all we really have. Keep it up Joeboy. Appreciate the info and your opinions.

Buckley's chance to step up The first time I saw Buckley play in a NAB cup game a couple of years ago, I had a feeling he'd be a really good player for the club. Still needs to add a bit of polish to his game, but has the tools to become more than just a good player. His development reminds me a bit of Scott Thompson's. I am not suggesting that they are in any way similar players. What I am trying to say is that the rate at which Buckley is developing seems to parallel that of Thompson, who always looked like he would be a beauty, added a couple more strings to his bow each year, and then finally reached star status (after we were forced to trade him). I desperately hope that Buckley continues to improve at this rate, AND sticks with us, unlike Scott, who was a real favourite of mine until he left.

Maybe they are embarrassed to present jumpers without sponsors to the new players .

Welcome aboard Devoted Demon. I think all of the others have done a good job explaining the debate on this forum. Though some people do occasionally go over the top and things can at times become a bit personal, the overriding theme here is that all of us have a strong passion for the MFC. It is only natural that in a time of crisis, the true supporters will become even more passionate and debate even more fiercely, because there are more things going wrong to debate about. I'm actually curious to know how you came to support the Dees. This is currently an important issue for the club. We need to know how to attract more members and new fans for the future. Your experience and reasons for joining up could inspire a new idea for the club to utilize in attracting new supporters like yourself. Stick with us DD. It was only 2 pre-seasons ago that we were touted as the great Victorian hope before injuries cruelled us for the last 2 season and forced a re-build. We can turn this around and become a force again, and i believe it will be sooner than many here and outside this forum think.
