As much as well all want to land a star. If we get Frost via PSD (or even without this) the offseason is clearly a success and I am amazed anyone could say otherwise. - We landed massive overs for pick 3 with Frawley - Stretch cost us below the value of an U18AA kid whose skill set of speed and two way running fits our exact need. - we have picked up a talented mature half back with speed and carry for a player we never expected to play again. - we have picked up a quality crumber with speed and carry for a pick we were likely not going to use. - we have picks 2 and 3 for the best kids in the land and the addition of a kid to our side in Hogan who would be the number 1 pick if in the pool. I expect we will pull at least one player to bolster our midfield stocks (hoping its Lyons). All this puts us in a much better list management position than end of year.

I dont understand this riddle?

Just to play devils advocate. Pick 2 and 3 is overs but Kennedy is a seriously good player. With my limited viewing of the draft kids available none of the top echelon look a sure star except for maybe Petracca. This is not about us not developing our own but assessing the risk of what the draft pool holds and how far and how quickly they could be developed. I would also consider how this may assist our current kids development. Imagine how this would fast track the development of Tyson and Viney with JK sharing the centre square. I love the romanticism of drafting our own star and hope we can hold one of these and spin that deal but if that is what it is we will improve markedly next year. In Roos we trust.

25+ possessions in 14 of 18 games and multiple goals in 7 of them. Add 5 possessions each to Tyson and Jones each game on top of that I reckon. Would make a significant difference to our side.

Great to see some well thought out sense from BB, AOB, The Fork, GOTO and Redleg. Oh for the good old days when most posts read like this. The club have built an expectation that something like this was coming. I would love to have seen the response if this had just come out of nowhere. I am unclear of what part of "everyone is tradeable", "some players are scarred by previous years and may never recover", "we will evaluate our overall position at the end of the trade period not each trade" do people not understand. If it was a straight Trengove for 12 would people have an issue or is it the value that people have concern with? Do your best 18 including Garlett and Lamumba and assume Petracca and work out where Trengove fits. This could be best for us and best for him whether it is just for the pick or as part of a bigger deal.

There is nothing in that article that actually says Adelaide are interested in Trengove. A lot of people putting a lot of faith that Trengove will play a level of football he has never consistently shown. If our list is better at the end of the trade period than the start and gives me more chance to see us win more games of footy that is all I care about.

Based on his form over the last 3 years we win in that deal. Based on his potential if his foot is right we could lose big out of it if looked at in isolation. If it is part of a bigger deal as part of our overall strategy I am willing to wait and see how it plays out. I am also accepting that if he leaves, like Clark we lose nothing on this year as he didn't play really at all.

You would have to think if Griffen does get to GWS it involves pick 4 which should remove GWS ability to trade up to get Petracca. Come on dogs get the deal done.

I miss Chilliboy and Nudge. Someone give me some "good mail" to mull over.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
My gut feel is that Billy was rated higher than pick 29 by most clubs but with such an even draft there would be a good chance a player you rated top 12-15 could slip through to your 2nd pick. I would suspect that is why he more than likely slipped through. -

Great result. Has pace and carries the ball. Exactly the type of player we need. -
Thanks. Didn't see that game but have watched him numerous times. I don't rate him.
-
Its one game. What did he do for the rest of the year? He is small with no elite trait and has poor disposal. He is mediocre.
-
I dont understand why people keep bringing up Hrovat. He is mediocre at best. They would need to offer something that actually makes it worthwhile.

Will the Demons get pick 3?
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demon trucker's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is Frawley in an open market worth a trade for pick 3? No. Yet people will whine if we do not receive this for him even though he is actually not worth that under normal trade circumstance. There is a reason it has been stated that there should be no return pick on FA because it is a handout. I would say pick 3 for Frawley is well above his value and as such we should feel KOTD if based on a formula and our current ladder position that is what we receive. -

I hope we get pick 3 for the trade value it offers us. I expect we will get end of first round and that is the compensation that Frawley is worth. Anyone that thinks we're getting shafted are kidding themselves and need to stop whining and hoping for handouts to push us up the ladder. As we have seen from our failures smart decisions and development get you there not hand outs. -
GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY

Jack, when he gets a chance can he just replace him with a number 3 until further notice? -
In my mind yes. I suspect it will be more than that. If they need salary cap room now with their current list they're going to have issues in the coming years.
