PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
I dont agree with Kolt in with no match fitness just like I didnt agree with it with Melksham or Spargo. Fritsch game had more possession but his game was poor. I agree we are making changes that should have happened the week before ie: Fullerton in JVR/Fritsch out. I dont understand how Sparrow has survived and think we should have had more like 5 out then 3 but have no issue with the 3 chosen.

Best game? He refused to chase again and celebrates a goal when we are getting pumped. This surely is not surprising.

Exactly what we should rewarding form and standards. Sparrow should have been ommitted as well and Kolt straight in says more about what available below.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
If we are serious without being ridiculous JVR and Sparrow should be ommitted as well as one of Spargo/Henderson and one of Fritsch/Melksham.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
Out: JVR, Sparrow, Melksham, Henderson In: Fullerton, McVee, Adams, Brown Petty to stay forward and Adams is deserving of a promotion. JVR needs to head to the VFL to find some form and Fullerton needs to be rewarded. McVee straight in as long as he can run out a game allowing Rivers permanent midfield time or one of Lindsay or Windsor back to a wing. Brown brings speed and defence to our forward 50 ground balls.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
The third quarter showed they can apply pressure and move to create scoring opportunities. It shows me it is purely lack of care and want. I have no faith that Goodwin will do anything next week to shake up the team or change the approach. We will be watching the same ol every week until he’s gone. We are playing 2 down in the midfield with Clarry jogging between contests and Vineys inability to do anything but burrow in and t then torch the ball. To then work our way into the game and have senior leaders in May fluff a mark, Gawn fluff a mark and Petracca miss from 15 metres is embarrassing.

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon
We have a coach with no clue and experienced players with no care. I am not usually a sack the coach guy but he is lost as are they. Whilst at it Oliver and Fritsch both need to be ommitted and traded at years end. The jogging away from contests and watching players run away from them continues to occur. Why? Because they keep getting gifted games and their mates in Spargo and Melksham come in with no form or many clear attribute they bring to the team. This is worse than Neeld era football because the names on the park are so much more capable but lack and understanding what to do and a want to do it at 100%.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Would not the strong internal message be to omit players who aren’t, won’t or can’t play to expectations of the new game plan? At least to a level to reward players showing good form at Casey. Gawn mentioned on MMM we spent 2022-2023 trying to capture the magic of 2021 and we now realise the game has changed. I sense Goody is still trying to capture it by backing in premiership players that don’t fit the new direction due to stage of career, amount of preseason, lack of growth or lack of desire.

If we lose this week I will?
I we dont win this week I will expect it being we continue to play players out of form and support players who did not earn their spot. Great to see McQualter make a stand with Tim Kelly on standards. I doubt Goody has a TIm Kelly moment in him but if he does it will come too late.

Tom Fullarton
I still think he would make a quality full back.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
It’s time to reward form over names. It’s time to penalise players who cant execute basic skills by either shifting their role where it wont impact or demoting them. It’s time to build players confidence either at VFL level or through a different role. With still a few more than I’d like on the injury front than you would hope you cant do it all at once but we need to make a start through a combination of the above.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Out: JVR, Melksham, Sharp, Spargo In: AJ, Adams, Lindsay, Sestan JVR needs to go and get some touch in the VFL or alternatively go completely rogue and play him key back and Petty forward. If JVR out AJ needs to play as a chop out and to create a forward contest. Melksham and Spargo need to play out their careers at VFL they I’m sure are great clubmen but they are not the answer. Time to see what others have got. Sestan is ready to offer a role forward or back and certainly knows how to kick a ball. Lindsay back in should mean we look better forward with him on a wing and Chandler high half. I would like to see him part of the midfield rotation once again. I am assuming Lever will still need another week but if ready will play ahead of Adams.

It was a bad hammy. He was interviewed pre game and is due back in 2-3 weeks.

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Going by Goody's presser Pickett, Lever, Windsor and likely Spargo will be available, In Pickett, Lever, Windsor, Turner, Laurie Out: Billings, AJ, Howes, Fritsch, LIndsay

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
I will revise my thinking once I know whether either of May or Windsor are available but assuming they are not. A statement needs to be made but also players outside the team need to earn a position. There is no point swapping players for those not showing VFL form We also need to continue to hold the line on the game style they are trying to play and at least give it a chance to stick with May, Pickett, Windsor, McVee. Statement needs to be Fritsch that 100% effort and pressure is the minimum need. Langford is deserving of a role mid/half forward at the expense of Sharp who has lacked impact offensively or defensively with his run. AJ back in for Jefferson's injury. I would also like Howes (does not impact) and Sparrow (cant have both he and Viney bombing endlessly regardless of effort) but Im realistic about how much change we will make unless May/Windsor also available.

GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs North Melbourne
Last night showed that continual applied pressure can put any team in a winning position. No Koz, McVee, Windsor removes a lot of our carry and polish but win the contests and take your chances and we should get it done. Last week's acceptable loss filled with great effort and intent against an early premiership fancy means nothing if we don't get the W today.

May moved forward?
Hell no. He keeps the backline in check. He would have been handy on Greene instead of Howes. He would be handy this week on Zuurhar. I can see us trialling at a point TMac, Petty. May and May takes the mid sized leading forward where there.

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs North Melbourne
He was subbed off requiring us to move Rivers back to counter Greene reducing our midfield run in the last. We subbed him off ahead of 5 debutants. That should tell you all you need to know. The irony that Greene went into the middle after that is not lost on me. I would not call Howes the new whipping boy but AJ (a fan favourite already) is there because of his obvious effort and intensity, something that Howes could apply to his own lackadaisical game style.

Also add the fact they have played one game and we are first up. HarpenDees post should be pinned to the top of the GameDay thread and anyone who posts forced to read and accept their understanding before they can pass :) Cant wait to get to game time. Lots of rain in Melbourne and not looking like it will clear fully. Cant decide if that's a good or bad thing for our chances. Keen to see the debutants and all having a serious attacking and defensive crack for 4 quarters. Go Dees.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs GWS
ANB also knew how to find the ball (16 possessions a game) from a flank and defend (5 tackles a game) across 176 games. Also possibly the most astute role player in the AFL to the point that multiple teams did studies with their like players on his application to role to try and replicate. Sharp I like but it was his disposal and inability to accumulate that had him on the fringe of a strong Brisbane side. I rate Sharps potential but I will take the proven form of 176 mostly under rated games.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs GWS
I really hope not. He has not shown enough in what I saw of him in the Nth game and then not played against Freo. You are not setting him up for success having him debut against Taylor, Buckley and Himmelberg in a red hot first game. It also I assume means no AJ (unless Turner misses) and that likely leaves us with JVR post back spasm having to ruck at times. It just does not set Jeffo or us up for success in my opinion.
