  1. I can’t see any world where our starting 22 contains both Fritsch and Melksham. Goody mentioned we have been playing shorter down back than we’d like so I expect Turner to play. Fullerton surely wont be persevered with after last weeks showing.
  2. In Turner Melksham JVR Out Sharp Fritsch Fullerton Turner looked excellent back and we are playing too short back for a West Coast taller forwardline. Also frees Rivers up into the midfield rotation. Fritsch was only in for Melksham injury management. Yes kicked two goals but pressure was poor and continued to not put it to players in best position. Fullerton has had his chances and just does not display the required intensity. JVR had the mits and kicks working again yesterday at Casey. Being in WA would play him over AJ who was also good. One of Sharp, Kolt, Spargo will make way. Suggest Kolt will be sub and Sharp miss.
  3. Dazzle what current AFL player would you suggest he plays/projects to be like?
  4. With Melksham being managed not ommitted who do you suggest be promoted in the role that Melksham plays or should I take a guess? No forward looked worth anything at Casey last week based on what I saw but a role needs to be filled and the Fritsch will know if he does not perform he will be back out with Melksham back the following week. He should be given a defensive job on Vlaustin and be purely assessed against his ability to execute it.
  5. Whilst I agree he did not set the world on fire I am surprised by how many prefer Fullerton ommitted. Our forward line functioned and we did not lose impact when second rucks were in. He leads at the ball carrier and he moves. Rarely did our forwards get in each others way in the air. There is also something about building confidence for him and the team by minimizing changes of a quality team performance. Unless players are not fit (Melksham potential) or are making way for best 18 returns like May and McVee then we should be minimising change as much as possible.
  6. Howes did his job but if May was right would be the most likely. Salem would want to lift his performances if Sestan continues his recent performance trajectory. If May is not right which sounds likely surely Jed Adams to debut?
  7. You just dont get it. What did Fritsch do today to force his way back into the side? I watched the first half of Casey and his work rate was non existent. JVR needs to bang the door down. Fullerton was serviceable today in the ruck and was in our best functioning forwardline of the year so far. The changes need to be minimal. May and McVee who are clearly best 22 for Turner and Sharp.
  8. We laid 27 inside tackles. That did not happy by accident.
  9. 6 Pickett 5 Bowey 4 TMac 3 Gawn 2 Petty 1 Viney
  10. It’s fitting this is an Easter game being we are generally Freo’s bunnies. I would have liked to have seen Adams brought in for May but otherwise the changes have us look more balanced and at least we have 2 forwards that have been kicked goals at the lower level recently. What I hope to see is manic effort and a focus on structure without the ball. I hope to see movement forward when we have it and movement forward of the ball for those wanting it. I hope the player with the ball trusts his gleam mate and looks to execute the first attacking option to a player that puts us in the best chance to score. If Sparrow is going to tag Brayshaw or Serong do it at the bounce not at the expense of another position. Time to move Viney forward and Rivers in the rotation. Let Langford and Oliver rotate and Trac or Pickett rotate. Windsor back to the wing and Chin to high half forward. I don’t think we’ll win today but I do think there is a great chance to show the first true steps of change that will have us moving in the right direction.
  11. I dont agree with Kolt in with no match fitness just like I didnt agree with it with Melksham or Spargo. Fritsch game had more possession but his game was poor. I agree we are making changes that should have happened the week before ie: Fullerton in JVR/Fritsch out. I dont understand how Sparrow has survived and think we should have had more like 5 out then 3 but have no issue with the 3 chosen.
  12. Best game? He refused to chase again and celebrates a goal when we are getting pumped. This surely is not surprising.
  13. Exactly what we should rewarding form and standards. Sparrow should have been ommitted as well and Kolt straight in says more about what available below.
  14. If we are serious without being ridiculous JVR and Sparrow should be ommitted as well as one of Spargo/Henderson and one of Fritsch/Melksham.
  15. Out: JVR, Sparrow, Melksham, Henderson In: Fullerton, McVee, Adams, Brown Petty to stay forward and Adams is deserving of a promotion. JVR needs to head to the VFL to find some form and Fullerton needs to be rewarded. McVee straight in as long as he can run out a game allowing Rivers permanent midfield time or one of Lindsay or Windsor back to a wing. Brown brings speed and defence to our forward 50 ground balls.
  16. The third quarter showed they can apply pressure and move to create scoring opportunities. It shows me it is purely lack of care and want. I have no faith that Goodwin will do anything next week to shake up the team or change the approach. We will be watching the same ol every week until he’s gone. We are playing 2 down in the midfield with Clarry jogging between contests and Vineys inability to do anything but burrow in and t then torch the ball. To then work our way into the game and have senior leaders in May fluff a mark, Gawn fluff a mark and Petracca miss from 15 metres is embarrassing.
  17. We have a coach with no clue and experienced players with no care. I am not usually a sack the coach guy but he is lost as are they. Whilst at it Oliver and Fritsch both need to be ommitted and traded at years end. The jogging away from contests and watching players run away from them continues to occur. Why? Because they keep getting gifted games and their mates in Spargo and Melksham come in with no form or many clear attribute they bring to the team. This is worse than Neeld era football because the names on the park are so much more capable but lack and understanding what to do and a want to do it at 100%.
  18. Would not the strong internal message be to omit players who aren’t, won’t or can’t play to expectations of the new game plan? At least to a level to reward players showing good form at Casey. Gawn mentioned on MMM we spent 2022-2023 trying to capture the magic of 2021 and we now realise the game has changed. I sense Goody is still trying to capture it by backing in premiership players that don’t fit the new direction due to stage of career, amount of preseason, lack of growth or lack of desire.
  19. I we dont win this week I will expect it being we continue to play players out of form and support players who did not earn their spot. Great to see McQualter make a stand with Tim Kelly on standards. I doubt Goody has a TIm Kelly moment in him but if he does it will come too late.
  20. I still think he would make a quality full back.
  21. It’s time to reward form over names. It’s time to penalise players who cant execute basic skills by either shifting their role where it wont impact or demoting them. It’s time to build players confidence either at VFL level or through a different role. With still a few more than I’d like on the injury front than you would hope you cant do it all at once but we need to make a start through a combination of the above.
  22. Out: JVR, Melksham, Sharp, Spargo In: AJ, Adams, Lindsay, Sestan JVR needs to go and get some touch in the VFL or alternatively go completely rogue and play him key back and Petty forward. If JVR out AJ needs to play as a chop out and to create a forward contest. Melksham and Spargo need to play out their careers at VFL they I’m sure are great clubmen but they are not the answer. Time to see what others have got. Sestan is ready to offer a role forward or back and certainly knows how to kick a ball. Lindsay back in should mean we look better forward with him on a wing and Chandler high half. I would like to see him part of the midfield rotation once again. I am assuming Lever will still need another week but if ready will play ahead of Adams.
  23. It was a bad hammy. He was interviewed pre game and is due back in 2-3 weeks.
  24. Going by Goody's presser Pickett, Lever, Windsor and likely Spargo will be available, In Pickett, Lever, Windsor, Turner, Laurie Out: Billings, AJ, Howes, Fritsch, LIndsay
