  1. Cant possibly see us being able to afford even close to what others would pay and would only make sense if we are set on moving Petty. He will be at the Bombers or the Swans is my opinion (no source).
  2. Need to consider JVR, McVee and Woewodin have developed to the point of being in the 22 of a top 4 side at the minute. Howes, Laurie and Disco Turner who are all are consistently impacting at VFL not playing makes the cupboard look barer as well.
  3. This is what I have been considering more and more. If WC truly want Curtin they may need to bite the bullet at 1 otherwise high risk he is not there at 4 and beyond. North have loaded on mids in Wardlaw, Powell, Phillips with early picks as well as Sheezel. They have LDU and Simpkin in their prime. They are about to lose McKay and other than Larkey have no other quality young talls. Hawthorn have a young deep midfield brigade but have no real quality keys aside Lewis forward and the undersize Sicily. Good chance either of them take Curtin.
  4. Rivers has played a few rotations in the middle but to my knowledge has never lined up on a wing. If Hibberd plays this week who is your back 7 or are we changing our structure to a back 8. To be clear my preference would be stick with the back 7 and manage Hibbo as next up if required. However I would not want to see Bowey out of the 22 and would prefer a creative solution if that becomes a potential possibility in a role that would be available on recent form of Spargo and. Chandler.
  5. You need to consider we have had many weeks with no Salem or Hibberd injured/managed and no Oliver meaning Brayshaw into the pivot meaning he has generally had a spot in the back 7 most weeks. McVee and Rivers sustained impact and Bowey’s recent return to form means something has to give if they want Hibbo into the run for finals. Bowey is too good to be at VFL so considering his skill set may fill the gap left by Spargos current and Chandlers recent form it seems a alternative we should consider over omission even if not tried before now.
  6. I disagree. He dominated the weekend playing high half forward. Has played midfield in some of the other games.
  7. Either/or of McKercher or Duursma for me with our Freo Pick. Both are highlighly rated and in my view fit positional (half forwards that will develop to senior mids) and attributes (speed and polish) that we need.
  8. Small Herald sun write up on Grundy in the VFL scratch match also states “Chandler starred”. He was quality the prior week at VFL as well and I think he offers a more rounded role in our forward set up than Spargo.
  9. Tomlinson for Petty Chandler for Spargo If they want Hibberd in and are willing to spin the magnets more, Bowey forward (for Spargo) or Rivers midfield (for Jordon). Smith again as sub.
  10. 6. Gawn 5. Trac 4. Melksham 3. Viney 2. McVee 1. Hunter
  11. Thanks I forgot to consider they need the points moreso than shifting into next year. Either way I am on board with us doing what we need to load into the top end of this years draft. I would also prefer us to have two shots in top 10 plus Brown later as father son than sell the farm to put all our eggs in the Harley Reid basket.
  12. McKercher please. Looks exactly the classy midfield connector that we lack. I do wonder how much thought clubs will put into the potential Tassie team and is this is any more weight than if a player is from WA or SA being those teams actually already have teams that exist. If we could get our hands on the Suns first pick as well (using our second round and next years first) without losing our first this year, having a 3 picks inside the first round could really set us up for the future.
  13. Based on todays VFL form where no one banged the door down and JVR was just going I would go in unchanged. My preference though would be we drop a small likely Spargo ( knot that he was bad) for JVR and play taller.
  14. Those that have made reference to their 3 injuries and impact on their capacity to run out the game. Two of the injuries (King and Cordy) were to key talls that generally play high minutes with limited rotation and dont play running roles. So it was basically Seb Ross for Byrnes so negligible impact to their running game. You could argue they had more run on the ground at any one time due to having to play smaller. It’s a quality win against a good defensive pressure side breathing down our neck for a top 4 spot at a ground we rarely play at. Kudo’s to JJ for a quality game in the pivot, May in boss mode and Trac showing the nightmare match up he could be forward at the pointy end of the season.
  15. My understanding is no chance based on the weekly club injury report. I suggest McVee will take Cameron.
  16. I doubt any changes unless forced being Casey play today and we back up Friday night. Koz is still getting high pressure acts (top 3) but looks confused in his attack on the ball and has played high TOG last 2 weeks which would be affecting his burst speed. Also unlikely to ommit Melksham after his role last night. I would like to see JVR for a small on the MCG but cant see us making the change.
  17. 6 May 5. Trac 4. Jordon 3. Salem 2. Sparrow 1. Lever
  18. Yep 31 possessions and 3 goals last round is clear evidence of this. Deserves a call up and to test his readiness at AFL level.
  19. Got what we deserved. So predictable in play and outcome.
  20. Cannot fault their effort. Can fault their brains and skills. This all feels very familiar.
  21. Agree he rarely gets beaten but he seems to be getting to less contests and is not having much impact on the scoreboard or up the ground. This week I suggest is the week to not play him as Taylor as you have suggested will likely give him a bath and Smith cant be ommitted on last weeks game.
  22. No disrespect to JVR because he will be a beauty but interested why no one seems to put him up for omission. 2 goals and 6 marks in this last 2 games and generally having limited impact. I know he is the future but he is not impacting enough at the minute and will likely tire in a long second season for him. I would bring in Tomlinson (who should never been dropped aside from him lacking a match up last round) and back to Petty forward. We also cant rely on Hibberd as he gives his all but his body cant sustain quarter by quarter, let alone week to week. Jordon and Spargo are honest toilers but we have players at Casey who we should start exposing at senior level in front of them. In Tomlinson, Bowey, Woewodin Out JVR, Hibberd, Jordon NBL: Laurie or Harmes as sub.
  23. 6. Salem 5. Viney 4. Rivers 3. May 2. McVee 1. Trac
  24. 6. Viney 5. Salem 4. Hunter 3. Tomlinson 2. May 1. Rivers
  25. Pretty reasonable side. Only player inclusion I question is Neales inclusion. That as well as the traditional lack of respect that wing is a specialist role and not just the place you extend the centre square mids you want to include to avoid tough decisions.
