  1. Agree. Just get it done. There is enough of a pattern now to how we are trying to play and winning games. I expect Ross will bring a plan to stop us playing the way we want. It will come down to do we have the maturity and intelligence to handle it. Anyone with half an eye and thought already on Kings Birthday will risk our downfall.
  2. I thought he was very good today in his work rate, clean hands and quality kicking. I am still unsure how he fits at AFL intensity but if he keeps presenting and making most of chances like he did today he could well develop an AFL career.
  3. Melbourne favourites against a Ross Lyon coached team out of form. What could possibly go wrong….. If we have half an eye on KB rather than our full force and focus on the Saints this will be a loss. Come on Dees don’t let me down. If Viney not ready to roll I would consider Sestan as sub being he could cover back and also pinch forward subject to who subbed out. However if not I suspect they will go with Henderson who whilst not banging the door down is likely next man up in the required Spargo role.
  4. 6 Pickett 5 Oliver 4 Trac 3 Gawn 2 Langdon 1 Turner
  5. It’s hard to get any read on any player in this game due to the lack of quality opposition. Other than the fact that we need to find a way to blood Sestan soon.
  6. Round 9 Melbourne v Hawthorn Coaches votes 10 James Worpel 8 kicks 20 handballs 10 tackles 6 clearances 7 score involvements 71% disposal efficiency with 50:50 contest/uncontested possession split. 26 years old puts him right in the spot we lack in our age profile. As a free agent it is a no brainer that we are interested.
  7. 6 Melksham 5 Oliver 4 Pickett 3 Gawn 2 Rivers 1 Bowey
  8. Great game built on endeavour, structure and persistence. We lack polish and did our best to fumble our way out of it but we were clearly the deserving winner. Olivers best balanced game of the season offensively and defensively. Gawn and Melksham massive. And how good is that other kid we drafted X, so smooth and goes when it’s his turn. They’re the type of wins that create belief and turn seasons.
  9. The problem is the turn over up the ground and lack of pressure back toward them.
  10. Forward structure and clearance work looking good but too many lazy turnovers, broken tackles and lack of defensive run to pressure them back through the middle.
  11. Tholstrup playing like he thinks he should not be out there. His efforts today from my observation have been nothing short of pathetic.
  12. Adams and Kentfield will both be good AFL level defenders with time. Sestan surely must get a look in at AFL level at a point to see how he translates up a level. JVR doing more to get on the move and play in front and is marking well with softer hands. Howes is doing what he always does at this level and dominating but he is just one of those tweeners where it doesn’t quite translate at the top.
  13. The best way to set them up for success at AFL level is by them showing the required levels of consistent impact at VFL level. Kolt was brought in with no VFL games which was ludicrous and MJ no form post injury and off a last game with 7 touches where he played most of it in defence. Neither approach is setting developing players up for any form of success at the next level.
  14. What did we get for Hunt? Taj is clearly not in our plans and has not really shown much when opportunity has arisen. I did not mind how he looked as a small back but he lacks the quality of disposal now required coming out of D50. He will surely be delisted at end of year and I doubt would be picked up by other clubs unless he showed significant impact at VFL level this year or at a state level post delisting and then was re-recruited.
  15. 6 Langford 5 Gawn 4 Rivers 3 Bowey 2 Pickett 1 Petracca
  16. In Petty Melksham Sestan Out Jefferson Fritsch Oliver NB: Viney out a further week. Rivers to play mid. Sestan to debut back.
  17. a So he’s playing as a defender in the AFL then? That would be even more relevant to selection then yeah? All the more reason to validate we are not setting the kid up for success.
  18. Jeffo’s match sim form must have been stellar. His last VFL game certainly did not fill the stats sheet being 2 marks and 1 goal in a team that won by 118 points. Best of luck to him but I can’t see how his form and promotion sets him up for success.
  19. Out Petty (concussion) Melksham if suspended otherwise Fritsch In Johnson Oliver Out Petty Fritsch We need better ruck cover against Hawks and I want JVR brimming with confidence too play permanent forward when he comes back. Fritsch may have kicked two but 7 touches and 0 tackles just doesn’t cut it. Whilst we kicked 100+ I still dont believe our best forward line can contain him and Melksham. With Hawthorn playing smaller forward, Turner can be freed forward and Oliver back into the midfield mix. If Oliver is not ready to return I would love to see Sestan debut and Rivers back into the midfield mix.
  20. 6 Gawn 5 Chandler 4 Melksham 3 Petracca 2 Turner 1 Viney
  21. How so? We are slaughtering them at clearance and stoppage.
  22. Did not take our chances. Then played liked heroes expecting it would come with half ar$sed efforts. Then a slight lift in pressure from a C grade team and senior players start to panic with the ball. So Melbourne. Playing one tall forward in Petty which is no tall forward when he chops out in the ruck is up there with one of Goodwins worst selection decisions.
  23. Kolt is overthinking it and trying too hard. The kid just needs to back his instinct and keep it simple. I will back him in unlike some of the ridiculous keyboard warrior comments I just scanned. We’re pressuring well and moving the ball well until we get to launch and then we look a touch lost. We need to get a break on the and take their confidence out of it.
  24. Well one change makes sense. Assuming Disco back and Rivers into the pivot from Clarry. The other one? Fritsch and Melksham in the same forwardline and no back up ruck/forward in JVR, Johnson or Campbell. It’s not like they can build form at Casey with no game.
  25. Other than the recent facts of Viney going to Serong and Taranto the last 2 weeks.
