Caleb Daniel
Caleb Daniel good game is 300 metres gained. Houston averages 450-480m. We have enough smallish players with dinky kicks.

Delistings 2024
I count it as 9 but close enough. If they are not up to it and out of contract then I would prefer us to look at someone mature outside untried or retried than someone we know is not going to make a difference (recontracting Schache a good example). I assume 2 of the spots are Yze and Mentha. Then I will assume 3-4 in a quality draft with depth. So I dont think it would surprise that we bring in 3-4 players from other clubs in trade or delisted FA’s to improve our depth and balance out some of the lost maturity over 2023/2024.

Delistings 2024
Of this list. B Brown is known. I would also delist KFW, Hore, Hunter, Schache, Sestan, Smith. I suspect Tomlinson looks after itself via free agencyh. TMac deserves to go around again if he chooses as does Melksham with the loss of mature leadership we have lost with Gus and ANB. Verrall, AMW and Kynan have shown good development for age.

Welcome to Demonland: Bayley Fritsch
Why wont you get value? I suggest he is one of few we should be seeing what his value is to the right team. We need to find ways to maintain our high pick and try and get another this year whilst bringing in other mature roles that may have upside for cost.

Trade Targets
There is no world I see where either of them net you a top 20 pick or close to.

Trade Targets
Who are you willing to trade to get it done that you think has the realistic value to make this happen?

Where's Kentfield at?
I have no issue with the current impact of Kentfield. As has been alluded should be a long play. What i dont get is why we thought we had to jump at him in the mid season draft vs grab him with a mid to late pick in the end of season. We should have used the mid season for an emergency ruck (as we found was needed) or mature midfield depth.

Trade Targets
I disagree. He was the best midfielder who we knew had off field challenges, some affecting our team culture.

PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Port Adelaide
Bold point 1. Judd has been accountable for the oppositions best small/medium forward almost every game this year. Bold point 2. I think this is because we lack polish and quality ball use through the middle. Having a peak at the end of this season to see how his skills translate helps the decision on whether to train him more for a midfield or defence role over summer.

Trade Targets
It's a shame Finn Callaghan and LDU are not out of contract til 2025. I doubt we could jag either out a year early (if at all) but they are exactly the type of size, polish and pace we need to add to our midfield mix.

Dan Houston
Can people stop comparing the trade value of players who were traded when out of contract to Houston.. He is in contract and if we want him we will need to pay overs to get him out. The question is what is a suitable level of overs? I suggest a first round pick outside of the first 10 and some sweetener to Port is fair. Whether they take it is I suggest down to various factors. The reason he wishes to leave. How much they want to get back into the first round. How much salary it frees. How far off they see themselves contending in 2025.

CASEY: Rd 18 vs UWS Giants
I like how we have recently shifted Schache to CHB to assist the development of Jeffo and Kentfield forward. I actually thought he looked decent down there last week in tough conditions.

Dan Houston
He is a perfect candidate to trade in for Gus spot both in age, player type and positional flexibility. He is worth a mid-late first rounder and Port will be enticed in some manner by that to get back into the first round. I am unsure of whether his interest in returning home is just interest or personal circumstance which may soften port a touch. How much we value bringing youth in this year will be interesting. We have so many young players entrenched in the best 22. We have developing talls In Jeffo and Adams coming into their third year that we will suspect to start to push for selection. However other than that we lack quality youthful depth other than Kynan and Howes that you would be confident could push into a finals contending side in the future. Then there are those that worry about adding youth now before Tassie comes in. I can see both sides but my view is our time is still now we should have a strong swing and try and land him.

PREGAME: Rd 20 vs GWS
I dont think it’s left field he has been mediocre most of the season. I hope they allow Laurie time to play as a half forward/ mid and hopefully he makes the most of the chance. Cant see either of May/Lever being in doubt without Tomlinson as cover but hey we did play without a ruck last week so…..

Windsor Re-Signs until 2028
Petty is a super important signing and can’t wait with another preseason and confidence in his body watching lots of people eat their words whatever end of the ground we play him at. I cant wait to see the footballer Windsor evolves into by 2028 and would not surprise if by then a re-rank of the 2023 draft shows him on top.

Petty Re-Signs for 2 Years
Great news if true. Just needs a full preseason and a clear run and he solves problems for us 2025 and onward at either end. Now let’s go and fix our midfield and a second ruckman.

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Fremantle
The best ruck combo in the game and the best midfield trio in the game in my view. Against no recognised ruck, Viney trying his best, a fat unfit Oliver and River learning the mid trade without a mid engine. Surely nothing could go wrong. Yet we played a high defensive press and our forwards when we got the ball down there let them waltz it out on most occasions. Completely outcoached, outplayed, outworked. Lucky the damage was not worse.

GAMEDAY: Rd 19 vs Fremantle
A quality team on their home deck but you see our players are believing again in the way to play and a clutch of brash youngsters are stepping up. In my view this games a free swing for us without Gawn/Trac and with expectation on the Dockers that a W puts them into third spot let’s see how they handle it.
