  1. Green's season of hell Someone please explain why he wont just shut up and play football. How could he possibly think there is any benefit to this article.
  2. This is exactly what I hope for. If he has been finding form as an onballer I will be bitterly disappointed if I see him line up at half back.
  3. Yes noted this as well.
  4. Good to see that the Melbourne player review mentioned the following this week: Brad Green: Greeny didn’t involve himself in the game enough. We just need more from our leaders, and Brad needs to continue to lead with his involvement and with his voice on the ground Brent Moloney: Brent only had a fair day. His in-close work didn’t have much of an impact, and his defensive work wasn’t great. We need more from him as one of our leaders.
  5. From the Melbourne website Stats Morton 32 Warnock 27 Wall 26 Blease 24 Nicholson 22 Davis 21 Nicholls and Maric 20 Tackles Lawrence 10, Jetta 9, Sylvia 7
  6. Agree with this. Grimes and Bail have the combination of hardness and ball carrying ability that we are sorely missing at present.
  7. Your highlighted comment is why I dont think we need one. I think we have one in the list you mention and would much prefer us to focus on our list gaps which are quality true mids and a true small forward.
  8. Unless there is an obvious target ie: someone who fits the bill wants to return to Victoria we should be focussing on player retention, obtaining one of GWS mini draft picks and positioning ourselves for free agency the following year. We do not need a power forward we need quality midfielders and a crumbing forward. Not half forwards or half backs who play midfield but true midfielders.
  9. I think next weeks crowd is more interesting to predict. Would not suprise to see less than 15K in attendance.
  10. Are you talking about Cook who will be playign Casey 2's tomorrow? Cannot do Ins until I see tomorrow but Strauss,Green,Bate and Bartram for mine with Rivers(cant play on a tall) and Moloney (doesn't work hard enough outisde the square) not far behind.
  11. 6. Watts 5. Garland 4. Trengove 3. Dunn 2. MacDonald 1. Gysberts
  12. How Clint Bartram does not make The Ugly list is beyond me.
  13. Unless I am mistaken Darling went more than 10 picks after Cook not exactly snapped up immediately after our pick. Most that were screaming to draft Darling had not seen him even play aside from highlights packages. They are not even a similar style player. We need Cook to become our Cloke, Petrie, Roughhead. Darling would not fit that role.
  14. Cale Morton was a running wingman half forward. The other is a key forward. Have you actually seen Cook play?
  15. He is a first year tall forward, whose built like a stick. What did you expect him to do in his first year?
  16. Disagree. Please provide evidence of contests he has pulled out of or when he doesn;t put himself on the line.
  17. Rudeboy as much as I am a massive fan Liam does not work hard enough and gets by on natural talent rather than ethic. Just like with Sylvia it is about intent rather than statistics this week. I hope LJ and Sylvia learn from it and both come back more complete players.
  18. Thanks Choko. You articulate well your view but I disagree. The concerns for mine has been Baileys inability in numerous cases this year to show how to counter any half decent team and influence any game going against us to turn it around or minimise the damage. He has failed to consistently motivate the side unless there has been a clearcut motivator from the previous week that would be impossible for a player to ignore ie: bruise free footy. He has pushed games into players however Jamar aside I have seen no development in any player on our list that I attribute to more than their natural development due to games played or preseasons toiled. I have no confidence in the game strategy we employ. I have concerns that it appears to be a one size fits all model regardless of opposition or conditions or venue. I have no understanding whether there is a plan B that we can turn to when this does not work. If it does exist I have no confidence in his ability to employ it mid game. All these concerns have snowballed week to week this year and crescendo'd after the weekend. For mine it was the straw that broke the camels back not a knee jerk reaction. Instilling him for a further year would not remove any of my concerns. If it is done for one year whilst we wait for the messiah to be available to me may do more damage than good. I would argue that even with poor coaching next year with natural development we may then make the eight just on natural developemnt of our talent. What then do you do with Bailey. Understand your view but for mine the decision should have already been made.
  19. Choko in your opinion as it stood prior to the weekend would you have re-appointed DB? What about after the weekend? What would he have had to do by end of year to be re-appointed in your mind if possible at all? In my mind there was nothing he could have done in mind to recover from that and based on that the right thing to do is to not string him along for 5 weeks. It is in ours and his best interests.
  20. Scoop if the decision has been made that he was gone at years end where is the integrity in leading him along for 5 more weeks and then pretending that we then decided to not re-appoint. Short of winning the last 5 there is nothing DB would have been able to achieve to make up for that loss. Even with 5 wins I still expected him to be gone. People make it sound like he had no say in what happened out there on the weekend. I watched his coaching effort on Saturday and it was just as disgraceful as the players effort.
  21. Nothing can be gained from getting rid of Green now. A new coach hopefully will instill a new set of values and the players should be given the opportunity to see who can best lead with this focus in mind. I seriously hope we go out on a limb and dont appoint any of the old regime. I would love to see us appoint someone who will grow into the role than look for a short term stop gap.
  22. The right decision was made.Nothing would be gained from waiting until the end of the year. The players are accountable for their performance granted but the coach is responsible for getting the most out of the players on game day. I saw nothing leading into this week, prior to or during the game that lead me to believe Bailey could coach outside of his primary game plan which most have accepted will not win a premiership. Dean made some tough decisions in his 4 years and although I cannot remember a more embarrassing day than yesterday he has left a playing list far improved than when he arrived and ripe for the right coach to take us through our next phase. For that he should be thanked. I am amazed at people that assume to have the right fit we need an experienced coach. If anything I think someone from a strong club culture and of the younger brigade would better serve us. Someone who can tell a player how it is because he still remembers what its like. Preferably someone from a background that understands todays brand of football. Burns, Sanderson or Watters for mine with some A grade assistants as support not the also-rans we current employ.
  23. I noted that as well. Green is not a Captains a$$hole
