Ins and Outs This week

Featured Replies

happy with frawley, disappointed with no bate and garland. Bailey must really be seeing what they have to offer before deciding, which is fair enough, but will make for frustrating viewing

Any one remember George Lake?

George Lakes actually was at South Melbourne when i was playing for their U19,s in 1972 under Coach Neil Compton (our 1964 last goal hero)

He was number 9 at melbourne and played over 50 games

Lots of players only played once

Swampfox

I saw footage on the Herald sun page yesterday where the players where training at the MCG and Neitz wasn't training, I wonder if he is doubtful that would explain the three talls that have been included.

Frawley has to play and play for the rest of the year the sooner we can get 50 games into him the better he will be, has to play KPD though

This is straight from the AFL site.........

Guessing they mean ...

In - Frawley and Moloney

Out - Miller and Johnson

I don't trust them, will wait and see if anyone can confirm

Could be right - MFC site not updated last I checked, but teams were supposed to be finalised at 5PM.

Decent changes either way :P

that will be correct... not sure why moloney can't get a game, however I think CJ did enough last week to earn another run... he found the footy, which has been his problem in the past... his skills are there, they will improve...

want to drop a midfielder, how about everyone's love child bartram, he's been horrible so far this season... needs to go back to the 2's and find some form...

saw this on swans ins and out i had to laugh

NEW: Nick Smith, 2008 Rookie Elevation, from Oakleigh Under-18s

We look good on paper. Especially with Miller and Chris Johnson gone.. hallelujah!

And Moloney back will give us a boost

i hope that Frawley starts on the ground in a key defensive post, with a job to do. Lets see that hes made of.

Frawley could probably take Brad Fisher.

Fisher: 192cm 86kg

Frawley: 193cm 88kg

Both have reasonable foot speed, so it could be a really good match-up for him.

Moloney is still struggling with injury. He wasn't dropped after Rd.1, they rested him. Some have short memories to 2005, but it's 2008 and maybe he won't have the same impact.

All things being equal, I give Moloney plenty of time because of his drive, his contested footy, and his love of the club.

i would like to see us play our good KPD on the 2nd line carlton forwards. in effect, let fev do what he wants. let rivers playt rue CHF where he is best, no matter who plays their. riv will drop back and cut a couple off but still if fev kicks 10 and no one else gets any we will be in a good position. similarly i think it would be worth tagging midfielders OTHER than judd. do you think we can stop judd anyway? so lets restrict stevens and co and force judd to do it all on his own. tell brock to line up on judd and to focus on getting his own ball, hopefully brock can get enough going the other way to make judd slightly accountable.

they have judd and fevola, no one else is a real danger in the sense that we couldnt stop them, so lets cut off their support so we can focus on working with the ball.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
