Melbourne vs Geelong

Featured Replies

First 2 of the quarter to them, thats 6 in a row to Geelong now, we're down by 19

Flood gates.

Incredibly happy with White's attempted mark running with the flight. Very un-White-like.

oooops.......we woke the giant !!! lol

K rock is a peice of [censored]....

hate those idiots

switch to abc

why are we playing so SOFT now?

come on..is it too much to ask for FOUR quarters worth of work?

lets just hope they can show a bit more soon....

Well we've kicked 5 behinds in a row, so we could (and probably should) have had a bigger lead and maybe more confidence if we'd won the first quarter

thankgod for Mooney...or we'd be dead and buried already !!... Who is skills coach at Melbourne ?? do we have one ??

I don't think it's just the skill. When you think twice and make a bad decision, your skill is normally effected by this. The game plan is all over the place, therefore our skill level goes down because we don't know what to do with it. We hesitate.

credit where due.. well done Miller..and Bruce.. ( bet no one thought youd see me write that !! lol )

Am i just being facetious.... or is it a coincidence two goals were kicked with Robbo off ground ??

Jeez, both White and Johnson are playing blinders. Good luck Jamar and Meesen.

Can you be both facetious and right at the same time?

McLean really is making up for his shocker last week. Very good stuff! And Dunn kicks our third in a row.

PJ !!!!!!! heres a bloke sticking his hand up !! well done son !!

I'm only picking this up on the radio, but it sounds like we've shown a lot of heart today. Just under 3 goals down...

Brock Mclean... 22 disposals!

Jeez, both White and Johnson are playing blinders. Good luck Jamar and Meesen.

Meeson > Jamar. White is finished after this year imo. He'll retire. Meeson will replace him. Jamar is a VFL player at best.

Garland is currently an utterly pathetic footballer who is costing us goals whilst he is on the ground.

Sylvia refuses to man up and is doing likewise.

Very proud of White, PJ, Wheatly, Brock, and Bruce and Miller! Who would have thought!!!.

Bell and Jones are consistently [censored] disposers of the ball.

agreed

I'm a fan of Jamar's, but you're probably right. Having said that, I'd always take an experienced AFL player over a guy who has gotten only one game in 3 years.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
