these four years of drafting are what have hurt us... i know we did well in the rookie draft during this period, however you have to do better in the national draft than we did... 1999 is the only passable year...

i think we've drafted well since 2002, and hopfully those players will help us get out of this horrible slump sooner rather than later, as they're entering the prime of their careers... however we're currently paying for our poor drafting during this period...

It was poor football dep't decisions re recruitment & developement that are hurting us now as well as not trading out players who were/are not good enough.

This topic has been done to death in other threads with far more accuracy insight and analysis than shown here.

Its widely recognised that 2001 was a poor draft performance by MFC. In addition in 1999 and 2000 we also had salary cap penalties which has left holes in the maturity and talent profile of our list.

1999 was actually a good draft for us notwithstanding the loss of the 1st round pick as penalty.

Scott Thompson at pick 16 was an inspired choice. It is a pity that he returned to Adelaide for family reasons.

And if you going to do the job, it is far more sensible to do it on a relative basis re other teams performance as well rather than pick the eyes out to suit a point of view.

Thats it, put down the crack pipe...

Luke Molan was slotted to be a power forward and broke down with successive knees.

Steven Armstrong was promising until he lost massive amounts of confidence after the Bali fiasco and never regained touch.

Scott Thompson was just starting to be a vital midfielder when he decided to quit the club and return home.

Daniel Breese was touted as the next Alistair Nicholson (pre knee) and again broke down with injury

Chris Lamb showed in the game against the Alistair Lynch that he was talented - he was just disliked by Daniher and remained on the outer.

So now we're blaming Craig Cameron??

There are 16 players out there who won that final against St Kilda two years ago and 14 who were top four material the year before.

The problems they are having is not lack of talent, it is 90% between their ears.
