Should we be starting to look for Players now?

With a few players retiring this season our Salary Cap will be freed up and able to buy some decent footballers, Who should we be looking at? Ben Cousins? A decent Ruckman and Center Half Forward ? Any names which are out of contract at seasons end we should be chasing? What do you's reckon? Is J. Brown contracted next year? would he come home?

Love your optimism mate, but...

He wouldn't touch us with a barge pole.

I think the club has a responsibility to be conscious of big names who might be available. The problem is, nobody wants to be a hero these days. It's all about the almighty dollar. The Juda$ affair was proof enough of that.

I will be mad if we don't snare a high profile footballer next year. We will have the money. Melbourne F.C need a player that puts bums on seats. I can't think of anyone that does now. There aint many players that get me excited, Davey did for a little bit. We need a Superstar every other team has one except us and it shows come Brownlow night when we cant get votes.

If M.F.C choose to take burnt out hacks like the past i'll be even more wild. I don't want to see us wasting money like we did on Turley, Pickett, Chisolm, Cook, Ellis, Moorcroft, Motlop, Ingerson, Vardy.

If we are poaching we have to poach quality young players, 2 or 3 seasons in... a superstar with only 2 or 3 years left of his peak is useless to us

Cousins is too old. Decent rucks - and particularly CHF's - aren't generally thrown away by Clubs...particularly if we're talking under 28s.

I thought Ingerson was pretty good for us. Fair call on most of the others, although Vardy gave us more than the rest. Anyhow, I can't see the point in picking up recycled players unless they're quite young.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
