as i watched in horror yesterday seeing us get belted i also noticed how jeff white was getting killed by that dud simon taylor? seriusly white is finished! white is only 195cm tall and is pretty much the shortest ruckamn going around. i thought when was the last time we had a bloody ruckman that was over 200cm tall? then i thought of jake spencer who is 204cm tall. i read in an article that he is a very aggrasive ruckman who is hard at it. also has a big motor two. bit like dean cox or jamie charman! could spencer one day take over reigns of jeff white? i mean i kno he will need a couple of years to develope but we are in need of a seriouse tall ruckman! and i think if spencer develops right and gets a good hitout for sandy this year what are the chances we could give him a shot in the big time? forget abot van shaick or neaves.. im more excited about this bloke?

thoughts?

Thoughts? Get him in. These kids are our future, get games and experience into them playing on A grade AFL players, its pointless to give games to players like Yze & White they wont be around for a premiership for Melbourne.. and thats really all that matters isnt it?

Spencer played with Sandy reserves yesterday along with Tom McNamara,Kyle Cheney and Trent Zomer...

He didn'r dominate but he showed plenty of potential.....the diference in skill level between Spencer and Van Schalk from a couple of years ago imho is huge...Spencer moves well...has a bit of pace....watching Van Scalk run was like watching the QE2 berth at Station Pier..

For a rookie of his height I hope Melbourne persist with him....I'm hoping we'll see him in Sandy seniors at some stage this year

G'day Zebraman, thanks for the insight.

Could you please give us a brief rundown as to how the other Dee's players went for Sandy yesterday ?

Natanui

Natanui is 196cm tall...hope he grows a couple of cms.

appaz has a huge leap, and dominated Kruiser in the ruck (who is 199.5cm) by jumping a foot over the top of him

Playing an 18 year old kid, low draft pick, as raw as he is, is the stupidest idea yet.

We're rubbish at the moment, but how will a teenage kid make the difference. PJ looked ok for us. White will have these weeks. Meesen hasn;t gotten a game yet, but will. And while Jamar is a Dud we have two other ruckmen who are our starters with White who are in dire need of game time. Spencer needs a few years at least at Sandy.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
