My old man and sister headed down to training today and filled me in on their observations:-

* Meeson moves really well,

* Garland and Frawley both look to have stacked on a few kilos,

* Rivers, Whelan and Wheatley were the only players in the rehabilitation group and none of them had an obvious injury,

* Jones is Cousins like (dare I say it) looks absolutely ripped and runs further and harder than anyone,

* Bell is nearing the end of movember,

* Caroll's new hair cut is filthier than his previous one,

* Bate and Frawley were opposing each other in a drill and were highly competitive to the point of getting quite aggressive towards each other,

Finally Moloney stopped just before the end of training to ice his hamstring which looked to be just a precautionary measure. There are plenty of Melbourne supporters who rate Moloney really highly but neither my old man or sister fall into that category but they came away today saying Moloney trained the house down and is moving like never before during his time at Melbourne.

A lot of the drills Bailey had them doing were based around peripheral vision and reflexes and Moloney excelled in them. In one of the drills he stood approximately about a metre away from the big net with 2 players on his left, 2 players on his right and 1 player behind him. Four of the five players had a footy and they would take in turns throwing their footy at the net in order from left to right while Moloney would catch it and instantly handball to the player who didn't have a footy. As soon as he'd handball the next player would chuck the footy at the net and so on. Apparently Moloney was consistently stringing about 25 or so catches and on handballs in a row whereas the other dozen players (including Davey) that were put in his position rarely passed 9 or 10 in a row.

If I remember anything else they said I'll post later.

Thanks for that.

Can't wait to see Jonesy in action next season.

I'm also a member of the "unconvinced re Moloney" camp, but it certainly is good to hear that he is hungry and training well.

Cheers for the update, hope moloney can get his O.P. right.

Certainly. He is a gun midfielder and deserves to have the chances of a few injury free years to show us all what he is capapble of. I rate him and hope he comes right.

thanks for that

sounds really good, im looking forward to getting down there sometime

well done moloney, i think hes on the up...does any of our players at all have an injury that will stop them playing round one or are most players slowly getting back into now and should all be ready?

Are you able to say whether Bater has grown taller since the end of the season. I read somewhere that he'd grown to 194cm.

i also heard weetra and petterd has put on muscle big time! is that true and also buckley. good to see them wanting to get bigger

Much appreciated Wrecker. Theres certainly no denying that Jones won't fail at AFL level for lack of trying. If only certain others worked as hard *cough*Colin*cough*.

And Beama. Damn that is good to hear. Every team needs a no-bull, straight-ahead midfielder, and he's ours. You can't help but love Beama.

With Uni now behind me, I might have time to get down to the next training at Trinity (next Wednesday @ 10:30 according to the website). Will have my paparazzi hat and dark sunglasses on once again, hopefully get some happy snaps of the new fellas. I think I read that they start tomorrow, so we'll probably have a few photos in the papers and on the website before next week, but theres just something homey about the (exceedingly) amateur touch.

Movember? You don't know what movember is?

Its the month to grow a mustache through November and raise money for prostate cancer.

Aaaah. I see. And no I didn't know that...

I was trying to use my imagination there... I was thinking it was another way of saying he's moving better or something... But clearly it's just my lack of knowledge...

Kids today...

Not really a kids thing Dappa. Plenty of oldies sprting a mo at the moment to raise money for mens health issues.

Man I am really looking forward to shaving this thing off - I've gone the 'porn star'.... But I digress.

A new generation is emerging, a full cycle is almost complete-

1. Knowing how to spell

2. Not knowing how to spell because the spellchecker corrects everything anyway.

3. Not knowing how to spell, and being on a forum/chat which doesn't have a spell checker.

4. wtf lol

5. Callaps of civilizashun as we konw it

This is what happened to the Romans, I swear.

'Visigoth' is actually spelt 'Visalageth'.

Fight Back! Hand write a letter to your grandmother. It's the only hope.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
