HAD A GUTFULL

Well I for one thought the washed out pink uniforms against Sydney's red and whitwme, the tiny suburban ground with no undercover seating, the dreadfully inadequate stadium lights and very limited camera positions all made for an excellent saturday night spectacle between the two great nepo baby clubs.

Guuuut fuuuuul

I'm going to start a political party with the sole message of anti-shabbiness.

Let me add one ... Garry 'genuine sh#t bloke' Lyon's 'commentary'.

Or to keep it simple, just Garry "genuine sh#t bloke' Lyon.

I like to call a spade a shovel type of person ,the commentary overall just didn't cut it through the box ,even when we were in the game .

They sure looked flat footed didnt they. Directly opposed to last week.

Gold coast a one off or Essendon an aberration. Will the real dees please step forward.

Sadly, we have all seen the "real" Dees many times

There is a good reason this club has zero respect from opposition teams and fans - it would be generous to say this group has a weak underbelly

It's not the fact that they lose games it's the manner in which they capitulate and the circumstances in which it repeatedly happens

Steven King's honeymoon is officially over he now realises what it is he has to deal with

Come on Sidyee ,we have the makings of great team there ,The Bombers were due for a win .Give em a break how good was last week .The thing that concerns me and has for a no of years now is we need a true genuine ruckman to give MAX a rest during the game ,not Petty not Van Rooyen who should be left at CHF a ruck man to come off the bench .Max was being worked over and fair enough and the Bombers were roving to him smart coaching and if you get a chance go to the game live what you see and hear on I H A G TV is so much different and you get to see how the game really is and how the boys play and believe me the game is fast now so a mistake or turnover can really hurt .

lucky you. I forked out the cash to attend gather round for the second year running. Thought I would splash out on the exorbitant PepsiCo package in the Magary room thinking I’d have a nice lunch and my kid could have the hot chips she was craving. Was in a bad enough mood when it had the vibe of a 12 year old disco, got dirtier when the best food on offer was a $23 panini that was made with the cheap 50c supermarket hot dog buns, and got even dirtier when they didn’t have hot chips. So we took off to the food truck area where there was a choice of 3 hot chips ($12 for a pretty tiny serve), and made it back in time to find some seats to see the start, feeling mightily peeved off at the afl, but somewhat comforted that I was about to see the mighty Dee’s shut up all the insufferable bombers supporters surrounding me. Well that didn’t quite turn out how I expected.

All in all, had the exact same vibe from our players as last year. Just didn’t turn up.

My Dear WATSON 11 do you think that those at Totem Pole House give a toss for the people who actually go and watch the game ,this whole Gather Round is wrong wrong wrong ,what is the basis of it why isn't the public involved in any decision making at T P H ,no score reviews at grounds like you just said people can charge whatever they want , this is supposed to be Aust premier competition we the public are treated with total contempt and it only makes it worse when we lose .PS how much did a cost or did they only serve Barrossa Valley rot gut .

I don't find that difficult at any time. The world of AFL is imbecilic. Not alone there, of course... look at the US administration.

The US administration?
Don't have to go that far.
Have a look at ours.
State and Federal.

I've had a gutful.

@Demonland

Seriously, are we gonna let this thread be a thing after every loss?

And if we have to tolerate it (which we really don’t) can we at least get the gutful part of the title right?

TIA

As disappointing as yesterday was we probably needed the reality check as without Max and Kozzy we looked a bottom 4 side yesterday.

I have no doubt in time with good drafting/trading King will rectify this but the reality is we will be mediocre for a while.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
