Cameron Bruce out, Colin Garland in?

According to The Australian, Cameron Bruce will miss again tonight:-

"A severely depleted Melbourne is tonight expected to lose another key player, with Cameron Bruce a likely late withdrawal, when the Demons host Brisbane at the Gabba.

Bruce is still feeling the effects of hamstring soreness that forced him out of last weekend's win over Carlton.

He could be replaced by Tasmanian teenager Colin Garland, who made his debut in round five against Sydney, but has not played since.

The Demons will miss up to 12 of their best players tonight, with captain David Neitz scheduled to return from finger and knee injuries in round 16 against the Kangaroos."

I know I'll probably be the only one to say this, but... excellent!

Bruce can heal properly, and we get to see Garland again, hopefully playing in the backline this time.

BRING IT ON! :D

I am excited

Another youngter to watch

Miller will start on Brown, Ben Holland has done a good job on some of the bigger forwards but the way forward is not with Holland. We need to see over the next 8 weeks whether Miller can be that strong tall defender that we need.

Could Garland be better than Flower?

Yes he could...

NOT

all bow to emperor Robbie :-)

He has good speed so far, and is playing on the wing.

Far too small to play in a KP at the moment.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
