No I'm not, but if my sources are correct there was NO doubt that given his form before his unfortunate knee injury, several AFL clubs had him well and truly on the radar to be drafted for this year. Given a great season with Norwood in 2013 who knows??

I'll back him if he gets on the park!

In fact I'll say this, if Michael Newton plays near enough to a full season at Norwood in 2013 without mishap, he will be drafted in 2014 !!!!

Think you might be dreaming 'picket'. I like 'macca's' dream a whole lot more though.

What are you smoking pickett? He did SFA during his 7 years with us. Now, after a knee reco you reckon he'll improve?

Lol 5 years later and the insane predictions remain.

I'll tell you what, if Newton gets drafted in 2014 I will streak the G in my demon scarf!

Awww, c'mon BBO, that first quarter vs Norf at Docklands was pure gold and enough to hang your hat on at the end of a p!ssweak career.

Is that you, Helen D'Amico?

Yeah i was there that day. Actually got my hopes up for a nanosecond. However, I was in the bar , and staying there, soon afterwards.

Have to admit that in the stand, I too thought for about 15 mins that Juice was coming good. Led well, strong hands, and that Oscar performance slap to the chin (Firrito?).... had all the hallmarks of a classic Italian opera.....betrayal, promise unforfilled, passion, lust..... or am I getting ahead of myself?.......

lol that was the day my old man abandoned me at the footy. He was probably at the bar with you, drowning his sorrows, wondering how he raised his daughter so wrong!

I think there would have been many a poster breathe a sigh of relief when their name didn't appear on the thread as they quickly scrolled down.

I know I did. : )

You can say that again and I'm glad I didn't post on this thread when it was started because, at the time, I was an unabashed fan of Brock McLean and still pumping up his tyres even well after he was destroying them in the Trinity Grammar car park at training.

I seriously still had him down as a future captain of the club even though by mid 2007, he had suffered that serious foot injury that kept him out for most of the first half of the season. He also copped a bad one when he damaged ankle ligaments the next year against Brisbane and those injuries affected him for the rest of his days at Melbourne. He was never quick but by the time he was traded he was as slow as treacle.

Many people forget that McLean was injured for most of the period late in 2009 when we stand accused of tanking. He was one of an injury list that reached up to 20 and there were times when we were that badly off that we fielded as few as three players at Casey (including rookies). Yet, the pundits expected us to not fumble, not play men in unusual positions, make more interchanges despite having players injured and perform miracles like beating the premiership favourites.

But I'm now digressing.

being a student of Carl Jung ,I can recount to you with some(faked) sincerity the actual importance of dreams in order to realise the potential within our psychic being .

Macca is simply reliving a pre-pubescent fantasy of exclusion which is a necessary part of success and "becoming who you are".

The synchronicity involved in BBOS mentioning of The Reality Bus is quite significant as a pointer to same notions of exclusion/exclusion.

i.e. Macca is exploring the possibility of a "prolonged winning streak" which removes him from the comfort zone of dreaming and into the reality of winning .

my final diagnosis and subsequent advice ,free of charge ,is for Macca to try to maintain a noble humility as we ascend the ladder and then spit on the scum that we no longer need to be nice to.

nah, ditch Jung and take up Kant. With a name like that it puts philosophy in proper perspective

Edit: i heard Juice was an absolute star on playstation

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
