No spefici NGA thread to use but we won't get a look at Jeffys son who's coming through,

Same article mentions Ah-Mu's 30 touches but doesnt reference him as a melbourne NGA prospect

NLM is tied to Geelong's NGA and Essendon as a father son, unfortunately as Jeff never reached 100 games with us we were never in with a chance.

Shame that we won't get a look at Garlett jr if he qualifies for the draft.

Loved watching Jeffy at his peak. Aside from Kozzy, probably the best goalsneak we've had since early years Aaron Davey

Agree, although I'd also have Austin Wonaeamirri up there too.

It will be a disgrace if the AFL decide Tassie gets a free kick with this one.

Would be perfect year to hit NGA or/and F/S gold.

AFL: "are there any Collingwood or Brisbane or Sydney academy or FS in the picture?"

My MFCSS: "NO"

AFL:"an ideal year to scrap those concessions, even if we reinstate them later"

Heโ€™s playing through the midfield as a rover!!

so judging from this, prasad is in our nga but we are not eligible to draft him - it also says ah-mu is in our academy and we are still none the wiser if we are permitted to select him via points if another club nominates him

Marcus Prasad is small in stature, but the goalsneak brings the heat with his pressure and can kick goals from all angles. The goalsneak debuted for Vic Country last year and slotted 15 goals in as many games for the Stingrays last season.
<snip>
Like Prasad, bottom-agers Corey Ah-Mu and James Goerlitz are also tied to the Demonsโ€™ NGA. Ah-Mu featured for Samoa at the FIBA U15 Oceania Cup in 2024 and is the younger brother of 2025 national combine invitee Tairon.

Marcus Prasad is not tied to Melbourne as an NGA prospect despite spending time with the Demons since he was 13, where he has been mentored by Demons AFLW star Tyla Hanks.

Would love an explanation of why this is the case

Without knowing a lot about the system it seems bizarre that a player can come through our NGA but when push comes to shove we canโ€™t draft them

Meanwhile Cochrane can be added to Portโ€™s NGA one year before heโ€™s due to be drafted despite spending essentially no time with the club

cochrane has spent his entire life around the pear - his dad was a player there (not 100 games tho) then a player welfare officer

he's eligible to be part of their academy by dint of recently discovered indigenous heritage

That true sorry - although I meant in a training/academy capacity

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competitionโ€™s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.
