Pies have essentially no assets to give up as there’s no way Suns would accept their future picks given compromised drafts and Pies’ finals chances

Blues do have currency but they need picks for their F/S - Dean this year and Walker the next - so I can’t imagine them wanting to front up too much

We’re clearly the best placed with the Petracca trade and current and future picks available, as well as any more picks to come on from Clarry and McVee

If he nominates us I reckon we get this done pretty easily

Blues have Curnow

True but it would have to be with any compensation they get from the Swans because Gold Coast aren’t interested in trading for him anymore

Apparently Humphrey hasn't said a word so far

😉

No way in hell they trade Curnow for Humphrey. Curnow also doesn't want to go to the Gold Coast AFAIK.

And Gold Coast don't need more early picks for their academy boys, especially if they get 7 from St Kilda for Flanders. That gives them more than enough.

Yeh Humphrey doesn’t sound like it’ll be happening. Twomey and Beveridge very insistent that Gold Coast won’t entertain a trade involving him. If we miss on Flanders too this’ll be an all time trade shafting

Suns’ list boss Craig Cameron:

“We have no plans to trade Bailey Humphrey. Categorically.”

Categoric would be "We will not trade him". New plans can emerge

Well sorry Gold Coast, guess Petracca is not getting traded then.

Also Humphrey can come out and request a trade, which throws a spanner in the works. His manager is probably trying to increase the offers here from other clubs.

We had no plans to trade Trac either, but life happens.

Draft picks from the GC for Trac then it is!

Go hard for 6+ 13 Dees, with late picks back to help them land their 2x top 10 academy boys.

We have no interest in the draft. Unless we plan on on trading those picks for players, we won't accept it.

We already said publicly that we won't take just picks for Trac.

I genuinely think it's Flanders or bust.

We'd need a really good offer in terms of just picks to even think about it.

My guess too.

Gold Coast want Trac, but we hold all the cards.

You gotta give something to get something.

Correct, I can still see a world where they give us outrageous overs in terms of picks just to get this deal done.

but i still think it's even money we just hold Trac.

Curnow would be how Carlton unlocks it.

Where do the picks come from? They need them for their academy boys.

Other clubs can get involved.

Not our problem. maybe they have to go into a pick deficit.

The Suns might want a scenario where they get all their academy players, Trac and don't give up any players but that's their problem to solve.

If they don't want to give up any players i'd want at least 2 good first round picks, especially given the draft

I don’t think the club feels like they can sell that to supporters. I think we have to land a player too, or this will feel like a loss in the eyes of many.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
