Petracca to the Suns only to get done at this stage if The Hump is part of the deal. No Hump, No deal and Petracca plays in Red and Blue next season.

Is what I am hearing.

Yep I hope the club stand firm om this!

Alright, folks.

Last day of trade tomorrow.

What’s happening?

Trac, Oliver, May and any others possibly on the move?

I predict Trac for picks only. Oliver for half salary and a pick in 2027 and north Melbourne take Steve May for a packet of crisps at deadline 7:30.

@Rockets , is that you? That is remarkably close to your post on page 140 😉

Unless there's a suitcase of 3 park superpasses, I'd guess it's the salary cap that says no?

Agree on May, last minute, North is the right idea but it’ll be Richmond or Dogs.

For Oliver, better to look away. That will be an ugly deal that will be spoken in mumbles that we’ll never decipher.

Trac will be the deal that stuns. Humphrey will get done. And the picks will favour us dramatically too.

Great for GC, they will make a show of their commitment to Trac and the huge get that he is, and now he better earn it. But in reality they’ll be giving away a player that’s leaving and a pick they wouldn’t use anyway.

For us, we get a clean slate and a young gun that we can pin high hopes. With a high draft pick for Taylor with a target.

I like this. The MFC really need a win.

In any normal scenario it would be very hard for the Suns to sell to their few thousand supporters Humphrey leaving. Having Trac inbound offsets the loss, particularly where the player is leaving for personal reasons rather than being wooed by a huge contract. It just makes sense. We also lose - he’s a generational midfielder (per Tim Lamb not me)

@Dannyz did you ever get any more intel about our talks with the Suns today?

Seemed to be radio silence from the media

I’ve been travelling today and haven’t followed anything up since I heard the interview with his manager.

Personally, I hope we hold onto Trac if they’re aren’t willing to release a homesick player who has real personal reasons to come home. He hasn’t been wooed by a huge contract, he’s very close with his family. Just do the right thing FFS.

The fact that there has been more noise on Merrett and Curnow trades potentially in the works the Humphrey 24 hours out before deadline just proves why this is a pipe dream and has been the whole time.

Even with some of the so called sources being dropped on here, its had zero correlation to what is being reported in the media the whole time snd that is that Gold Coast will NOT trade him under any circumstances.

Why did they bring his manager on to trade radio?

There’s nothing as sexy about A 21 YO wanting to come to Melbourne as their is Essendon’s captain wanting to go their arch rival or Carlton’s two time Coleman medallist happy to play basically anywhere but Carlton.

There isn’t any intel until GC relent. There are reasons that they could, should and would. To that end, the deal is live until it isn’t whether or not you think it’s high chance or not.

I have to agree. There simply has not been the same nose in the media about this compared to the other big trades. Today’s interview by a deflated sounding manager came across as a soft rehearsal for next years push to get out to one of the big Vic clubs. Wouldn’t be surprised if there is a change in manager by this time next year.

If you could sell Demonland for $1M, would you rather do it now or next year 😂

I just don’t have the same confidence that we won’t fold to get the trade done. I don’t believe we will walk Trac back and I think Gold Coast know this and don’t want to give up a young talent. I reckon they are prepared to deal with what happens in 12 months time if it means they can make a tilt in 26 with Trac and Humphrey.

Then why say we would walk him back, it’s a fresh start under King and the coach has his back.

At some point, the talk has to stop and the action has to start. I believe in King and I believe in Guerra.

The noise within the media coming out of Essendon and Carlton is more about those two clubs. Prior to the King appointment I would have placed us in same leaky boat, but tides are changing and just maybe this is more of the same.

Therefore I’m being hopeful , but sceptical.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
