The only comment worth noting that is not about Max is this (and I'm not joking):

Who's going to lock down on Sharp?

You're not joking but I think they are.

I hope it’s a spiteful tough game

I know Petty will be up for it

T Mac on Hipwood

No point tagging a mid as they have 7 stars

not bad their fans after u travel to PBP, or Yobville or the Entitled Lot Who Want Moore For Their Club And Get It From Joilmont

It really is slim pickings. All the talk from bigfooty Brisbane board is about Gawn vs Big O. Big O is struggling big time and they are worried Gawn will dominate. McInnerny is getting epidurals to get him through the pain. A lot of comments about playing Fort instead or tag teaming Gawn, however Fort has been dropped.

The draw to North last week has really put doubts into their minds. I'm surprised they aren't more confident, but I guess we usually matchup well against them.

Some standard comments that I've picked.

1.This game against Melbourne is going to be a tough game especially as Gawn is playing so well in the ruck.

2.Gawn's clutch marking all over the ground is such an asset, I'd love to see how we can use Payne to get to those contents and nullify him in the air as much as possible (especially against a weaker tall forward line)

3.I am a tad worried about Kosi as well, always seems to go well against us, does not need many touches to cause damage, I assume Answerth goes to him.

Also think this game will be very tough, the Dees have played some decent footy the last few weeks albeit in patches, we would not want to take them lightly like we did North
.

4.100% on Kossi he slays us keeps them in games against us and i always get nervous when he is near the ball inside our D50.
Melbourne like a low scoring game if Kossi gets us like he normally does they will be in this 1 and perhaps cause an upset if we play in the manner we did last week (looking at our mids whilst saying this)
And if B.Frisk gets his out the back ****min goals that he has a rich and proud history of....im quitting footy

What are they saying now?

Probably something like “do our players know that Max Gawn doesn’t play for us?”

Every week no matter who we play the opposition supporters say why do we always kick it to Max Gawn?

They don't he's just everywhere

Yep. It always makes me laugh that opposition fans think Gawn is getting the ball because they’re giving it to him, rather than because he’s just that bloody good!

No juicy nuggets. As mentioned above, there is a lot of frustration with their players kicking it straight to Gawn. A lot of disappointment in their midfielders not working hard defensively.

These are the only worthy mentions from the bigfooty post match thread on Brisbane's board.

  1. Noah terrible, and how Harris continually gets bullied by Melksham is frankly pathetic.

  2. Goodwin may be average in many areas but he does a really good job in identifying opposition weapons and get plans in place to blunt them.

Melksham on Harris and Petracca playing on Dunkley were interesting moves.

Highest tackle count on Lions side was Lester with 5. Even Dunkley had only 4 as I think Petracca went defensive on him. Rest didn't bother.

  3. Note to Brisbane defenders. The big bald dude is not - I repeat NOT on your team.

I know we were wearing a different jumper today but it's not excuse for not being able to kick to a team mate. How many kicks inside attacking 50 didn't even go to a challenge, let alone to our advantage? And clearing defence ..... what a ****ing joke. Just keep kicking it to the biggest guy on the pitch and hoping he doesn't just send it straight back.

  4. Gawn was always killing us today. He is the best ruckman to ever play AFL/VFL football. He will be a hall of famer as soon as the waiting list is over post retirement. Criteria is 5 years. He will get it as soon as he is eligible

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
